Evergreen, CN Extend Intermodal Pact

Canadian National Railway (CN) and Taiwanese container transportation and shipping company Evergreen Line announced that their long-standing relationship of 27 years will continue with a new agreement extending their intermodal partnership.Evergreen and CN have long enjoyed a mutually beneficial partnership, with Evergreen calling at CN served ports such as Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Halifax. Ever Sigma Discharges 9 millionth TEU at Los Angeles Port

Evergreen Line’s Ever Sigma container ship discharged the 9 millionth TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) to pass through the Port of Los Angeles in the span of 12 months, setting a new annual record for the most container throughput of any port in the western hemisphere. "Nine million TEUs is a major milestone for Los Angeles, and it’s only fitting that Evergreen Line, a longstanding customer, discharged the box that set this new Western Hemisphere record," said Port Executive Director Gene Seroka. "Their operation in Los Angeles is an example of how our customers and supply chain partners are continually adapting to the changing dynamics in the marketplace," Gene added.

MPA Honors Patrick Phoon

Ocean transportation firm, “K” Line Pte Ltd, and Patrick Phoon, Deputy Managing Director of Evergreen Shipping Agency, received the International Maritime Centre (Corporate) Award and the International Maritime Centre (Individual) Award respectively. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has honoured ten industry partners who have made outstanding contributions to Singapore's development as a premier global hub port and a leading international maritime centre at the Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMA) 2017. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd (“K” Line) started out as a representative office in 1973. Since then, “K” Line’s business activities have grown to include ship operations, ship management and ship agency.

Evergreen Names Penultimate L-type Containership

A naming ceremony was held for the Evergreen Group’s newest containership, Ever Lovely, the ninth of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan and the penultimate vessel in a series of 30 ships. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen's  Second Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new vessel was performed by Anna U. Obermeier, the wife of Pier Luigi Maneschi, Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency (Italy) S.p.A. Ever Lovely is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

Naming Ceremony of Evergreen's EVER LYRIC

Evergreen Group today held the naming ceremony for EVER LYRIC, the eighth of its L-type vessels built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Mr. Raymond Lin, Evergreen Group's Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Jarijanti Buana, the wife of the Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency Indonesia. Owned by Evergreen Marine Corp., EVER LYRIC is 334.8 meters in length, 45.8 meters wide, with a draft of 14.2 meters. The vessel can cruise at a speed up to 24.5 knots. As a refinement to her original eco-friendly design, the vessel is fitted with a brand new energy-saving bow. This improvement enables the ship to further enhance her fuel-efficiency and reduce emissions.

Shippers Struck by Truck Capacity Issues

Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp. recently announced that its movements have been affected by “truck capacity issues,” which the shipper said have been brought on by a combination of contributing factors, including driver shortages, infrastructure problems, and stricter regulations. “Every ocean carrier is being impacted by the truck shortages," Evergreen said. "While we are working 24/7 to honor our service promises, it is possible that the truck capacity issues may impact truck movements.

Evergreen Name Fifth New Containership

Evergreen Goup say that their newbuild 'Ever Lissome', the fifth of its L-type containerships to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan, has been named in a recent shipyard ceremony. The ceremony took place at China Shipbuilding Company's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Raymond Lin, Evergreen Group's Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Aphinya Changariyavong, the wife of EvergreenShipping Agency (Thailand). Chairman Mr. Nivat Changariyavong."Global economic outlook is gradually improving," said Mr. Lin, speaking at the ceremony. "According to IMF's latest World Economic Outlook, the world output is expected to grow by 3.6% in 2014. In addition, Clarksons expects global box trade to increase by 6% this year.

Taiwan's Evergreen Line was presented with the Environment Award at the 2013 Lloyd's List Global Awards Ceremony recently held in the Lancaster Hotel in London. Davis Lian, President of Evergreen Shipping Agency (U.K.), accepted the award stating "It is a great credit to the Company. This Award recognises our commitment to bring the highest quality of service to our customers while preserving the global ecosystem. Maher Terminals, LLC, one of the largest multi-user container terminal operators in North America, has been recognized by Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corporation (EGA) as '2012 Marine Terminal of the Year'. Evergreen Restructures and Consolidates

On Dec. 30, 2008, Evergreen Shipping Agency (America), agents for Evergreen Marine Corporation, announced that the company will consolidate some North America offices and reduce staff in order to deal with the downturn in ocean shipping business due to the worldwide financial crisis. Evergreen Line had previously announced capacity reductions on several trade lanes. "The worldwide economic turmoil has created a situation we have not seen in our lifetimes," the company said in the statement to all North America employees. The measures being taken will reduce costs and put EGA on a more sustainable structure moving forward. Offices impacted will include Baltimore, Charleston, Chicago, Norfolk and Toronto. The Salt Lake City office will close and the work will be assigned to Dallas.

Evergreen Named Ocean Carrier of the Year

Evergreen Line announced it has been selected by Wal*Mart Stores Inc. as International Ocean Carrier of the Year for 2007-2008. The award is presented every year by the nation's leading retailer for service excellence in ocean shipping. The award was presented to Jay Buckley, Executive Vice President, Business, of Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp., the U.S. agent for Evergreen Line, at Wal*Mart's headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. In accepting the award, Buckley acknowledged the dedicated teamwork of its associates in delivering shipments from point of loading in Asia to release in , even during peak season, with consistentcoordination and reliable performance.

Buckley and Yu Promoted at Evergreen

Evergreen Shipping Agency (), North America general agents for Evergreen Line, has announced two new executive vice president appointments in its head office. Jay Buckley has been named Executive Vice President, Business, and Louise Yu, Executive Vice President, Customer Service. Buckley will oversee all marketing and sales efforts in . Ms. Yu's responsibilities will be in charge of Customer Service functions. Both have spent their entire careers at Evergreen in the U. Jay Buckley joined Evergreen in Boston in 1983, the year after he graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and The Ocean Corp. in  Houston, TX. He started as a sales representative and in 1993 was promoted  to office Manager, overseeing sales, logistics and customer service.

Evergreen Group Announces Management Changes

Taiwan-based Evergreen Group announced management changes. Capt. S.Y. Kuo has been promoted to Second Vice Group Chairman of the entire Evergreen Group based in Taipei. Most recently, Captain Kuo has been Vice Group Chairman overseeing all Evergreen Group business in the Americas. He will relocate to Group headquarters in Taipei. Marcel Chang has been promoted to Vice Group Chairman of Evergreen Group from Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp. (EGA), succeeding Captain Kuo. He will be responsible for supervising all Evergreen Group affiliate business in the Americas. Thomas Chen has been named Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency (America)Corp. (EGA) from President, succeeding Marcel Chang.
