Evergreen Marine Executive Appointments

Global carrier Evergreen Marine Corporation (Taiwan) Ltd. announced the promotion of its President Jack Yen to Vice Chairman. Captain C.J. Wang, Chief Executive Vice President, has been appointed President. Anchor Chang, Executive Vice President of International Business Division, was promoted to Chief Executive Vice President. Jack Yen joined Evergreen in 1978. He has broad international experience having served the company in several significant locations including Germany, the UK, the U.S., and Hong Kong. His senior positions have included President of Evergreen Star Hong Kong Ltd where he had major responsibilities for the mainland China market, and president of Evergreen Deutschland GMBH. He was promoted to President of Evergreen Marine Corporation (Taiwan) in 2007. Captain C.J.

Evergreen Affirms Commitment to the Port of Kaohsiung

Evergreen Marine Corp (Taiwan) Ltd, which currently operates two large container terminals in the Port of Kaohsiung, has extended its lease on its Container Terminal No 4 facility (Piers 115 and 116) for a further 10 years. The lease extension contract, which covers the period from 1 March 2008 to 28 February 2018, was signed by EMC’s President, Jack Yen, and Director-General of the Kaohsiung Harbour Bureau, Ming-Hui Shieh, at the Evergreen International building in Taoyuan on 27 December. Container Terminal No 4 opened for business in 1987 on a 206,480m² site with a total quay length of 596m. The berths are served by six post-Panamax gantry cranes, 26 rail mounted gantry cranes and six empty container stackers.

Evergreen Launches New Service

Evergreen Line is to launch a new weekly service linking Asia with ports in the Eastern Mediterranean in November 2007. The AEM (Asia-East Mediterranean) service will employ seven ships of between 2500TEU and 3500TEU. The first sailing will be made by the 2824TEU Ital Ottima, which is scheduled to depart from Shanghai on 9 November. Shanghai – Ningbo – Nansha - Hong Kong - Tanjung Pelepas – Haifa - Limassol – Piraeus - Istanbul - Tanjung Pelepas - Shanghai. Evergreen Line had in September run an ad-hoc sailing in the Asia/Eastern Mediterranean trade and will run another two ad-hoc sailings in October to cope with booming demand in the region. Evergreen Extends Lease at Port of Kaohsiung

Evergreen Marine Corp (Taiwan) Ltd, which currently operates two large container terminals in the Port of Kaohsiung, has extended its lease on the newer facility at Container Terminal No 5 for a further 11 years and one month. The lease extension contract, which covers the period from December 1, 2007 to December 31, 2018, was signed by President Jack Yen and by Ming-Hui Shieh, Director-General of the Kaohsiung Harbour Bureau at a ceremony held in Kaohsiung and attended by Government officials, senior management from other shipping companies and many prominent executives representing the Southern Taiwan business community. This container terminal occupies over 400,000m2 of land and provides three berths (Piers 79, 80 and 81) with a total quay length of 815m.
