Evergreen & X-Press Feeders Ink MOA for Methanol-fueled Feedering

Global container shipping line Evergreen Marine Corporation has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with X-Press Feeders, the world’s largest independent common carrier, to place its containers on X-Press Feeders’ new dual fuel green methanol vessels. X-Press Feeders is planning to run these vessels on green methanol and operate them within Europe.The two companies moreover will work together to launch a feeder network, which will be the first in Europe to be powered by green methanol.Initially…

Antwerp Port Freight Volume Up

The total freight volume handled by Port of Antwerp rose from January through September 2019 by 1.1% compared with the same period last year. The container volume (in TEU) was up by as much as 6.4%.However the slowdown in the world economy reduced the growth rate of more volatile trade flows such as conventional break-bulk, liquid bulk and vehicles. On the other hand the volume of dry bulk such as scrap metal, minerals and coal soared by 9.5%, further propelling the overall freight growth for Port of Antwerp.With growth of 5.7% container freight is by far the largest category in the port of Antwerp. This growth can mainly be seen in the transshipment of containers, but the container volume is also expanding as a result of more imports and exports.

ONE, Hapag-Lloyd Partner for Feeder Services

Japan's Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Germany's Hapag-Lloyd have agreed to share space on their feeder services.As the first step, the cooperation will cover specific Intra-Europe (BAX, NBS, NPX, REX, SDX, ADX, LEX) and Intra-Asia (BHX, HAS, PID) feeder trade lanes. Ocean Alliance Launches Day Two Product

The Ocean Alliance has launched its new Day Two Product with an estimated 3.6 million TEU carrying capacity provided by approximately 340 containerships deployed on 41 services. The new offering will commence in April 2018. Alliance partners CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen and OOCL will offer 20 Transpacific services, six Asia-Europe services, four Asia-Mediterranean services, four Transatlantic services, five Asia-Middle East services and two Asia-Red Sea services. “Ocean Alliance has been a fantastic success from a customer perspective since its launch last spring and we are very enthusiastic to announce our Day Two Product,” said Olivier Nivoix, Senior Vice President Ocean Alliance Lines.

Fujairah Terminals Welcomes First Container Feeder Vessel

The newly established Fujairah Terminals, under the management of Abu Dhabi Ports, has welcomed its first container feeder vessel, the Dubai Alliance, reported Gulf News. This is the first ship to arrive at the terminal, which is wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of commercial and community ports within the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Fujairah Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), following the signing of a concession agreement with the Port of Fujairah in June this year. Under a 35-year concession, Abu Dhabi Ports has the exclusive rights to develop port infrastructure and undertake operations for containers, general cargo, roll-on roll-off and cruise ships.

THE Alliance, Hapag-Lloyd Enhance Network

THE Alliance and Hapag-Lloyd have announced our new enhanced port coverage in the Mediterranean - North America market. CMA CGM Revamp Indian Ocean Feeder Network

Starting December 16th, 2016, CMA CGM has chosen to revamp its feeder network to Indian Ocean to reinforce its quality, reliability and frequency. The offering of two separate products dedicated to Comoros/Mozambique market and North Madagascar will strengthen our competitiveness. "We are pleased to inform you that the new Indian Ocean Feeder Loop 3 service, deploying 1 vessel of 618 TEU, will be exclusively dedicated to Comoros and Nacala, Mozambique, via Longoni hub (Mayotte)," says a statement from the company. Main features will be the following: Improved frequency to Moroni and Mutsamudu, offering fortnightly calls with a gain of 7 days transit time. Port of Busan aims to handle 13 million TEU of trans-shipment cargo by 2020 ranking it number two in the world. Hapag-Lloyd Expands Feeder Network in Scandinavia

From the beginning of June, Hapag-Lloyd will be integrating the Port of Oslo into its Baltic Express Service (BAX). The BAX will then link a total of six ports in Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Russia with the hubs in Hamburg and Bremerhaven, from where it will be connected to Hapag-Lloyd’s global service network. The first ship is scheduled to depart from Oslo on June 4. APL Introduces New Service in the Americas

APL introduced a new weekly service aimed to enhance its network coverage in the Americas. The new America Caribbean Express (ACX) service, which links Central America and U.S. East Coast, is operated through a vessel sharing agreement with SeaLand. Serviced by three vessels of 1,700 TEU nominal capacity each, the ACX service will provide direct service with fixed day arrivals from Colombia and Panama to the U.S. East Coast. “The introduction of the ACX expands APL’s suite of services to our customers,” said Efraín Osorio, Head of Latin America Trade in APL. The ACX services will provide APL’s customers with connections to the carrier’s feeder network via the Manzanillo International Terminal hub in Panama, as well as integrated intermodal connections to inland U.S.

Milaha launches Qatar - India Service

Milaha Maritime & Logistics, a subsidiary of the Qatar based Milaha Group which delivers integrated transport and supply chain solutions in the GCC, has announced the launch of the first direct container service between Qatar and India. Milaha Rolls Out First Direct Qatar-India Service

Milaha Maritime and Logistics, a subsidiary of Milaha Group, launched its first direct container service, known as the Nhava Sheva Doha Express (NDX), between Qatar’s Doha port and India’s port Nhava Sheva in Mumbai. The new service will facilitate the growing trade activities between the two countries by enabling direct shipments without the need for transshipment in Jebel Ali or elsewhere, thus reducing costs. The non-stop service will connect Qatar’s Doha port with India’s largest port Nhava Sheva, also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Port, located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Port Of Felixstowe First Choice For Evergreen

The Port of Felixstowe has welcomed the first call at the UK’s largest container port of Evergreen’s CES (China Europe Shuttle) service. The 8,452 TEU Ever Laden launched the service from the Port of Britain in late May. The CES Service links North Europe to Asia with calls in Taiwan as well as China. The service has recently been calling at ports in continental Europe only. KMTC Feeder Service Comes to Busan’s New Port

Hapag-Lloyd Wins Three US Awards

Alcoa "Ocean Carrier Award", Eastman "Excellence Award" and "PPG Excellent Supplier Award": Hapag-Lloyd America has been presented with no less than three awards for outstanding service in the last few weeks. Hapag-Lloyd America has received three awards for high service quality from major clients in the USA within a matter of weeks. The US company Alcoa – one of the world's market-leading manufacturers and processors of aluminium – for the first time named Hapag-Lloyd the best global container shipping company among its service providers. The judges' criteria were the volume of North American imports and exports and the punctuality of deliveries. Hapag-Lloyd is also one of Eastman's most valued service providers, scooping the US chemical company's "Excellence Award" for 2011.

New REX Service Connects Germany With Russia, Finland and Poland

From the beginning of May, Hapag-Lloyd will be offering a new express connection from Germany to the Baltic region. The Russia Express Service (REX) links Hamburg and Bremerhaven, the two major North German hubs in Hapag-Lloyd's worldwide service network, directly with Russia, Finland and Poland. The two vessels used on REX each have a capacity of 1,400 TEU and meet the highest standard ice-class. They call weekly at the ports of Bremerhaven, Hamburg, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, and Gdynia, before returning to Bremerhaven. From the two North German ports, there are numerous onward connections within Hapag-Lloyd’s global service network. Hapag-Lloyd has 6,900 employees at 300 sites in 114 countries.

CMA CGM Announces New Agreement

As part of this agreement with CSCL and UASC, CMA CGM announces the reorganization of its CIMEX 1 service on the Asia-Middle East market as from February 2. 2012. The new CIMEX 1 service will be operated jointly by CMA CGM, CSCL and UASC with 7 vessels of a capacity ranging from 12,500 to 14,400 teus (1 x 12,500 for CMA CGM, 3 x 14,400 for CSCL and 3 x 13,000 for UASC). This new offer will enter into service on February 2nd in Tianjin with the CMA CGM DON CARLOS. Tianjin, Dalian, Pusan, Shanghai (YangShan Terminal), Ningbo, Shekou, Port Klang, Khorfakkan, Jebel Ali, Port Klang, Nansha, Tianjin. Jebel Ali, the 1st market in the region, will be directly called and Khorfakkan hub (U.A.E) will be used as an entry point to feed all the Gulf’s destinations via the CMA CGM’s feeder network.

Surge in Traffic Between Hamburg and Poland

In the first half of 2011, seaborne container traffic between Hamburg and Poland experienced a particular surge by 38 per cent, to 114,000 TEU. In this context, imports and exports from/to Poland are very well balanced at 56,000 TEU and 58,000 TEU, respectively. With a volume of 2.6 million tons of seaborne cargo in the year 2010, Hamburg is one of the most significant North Range ports for Poland. Evergreen Line Launches Express Service

Evergreen Line has announced the launch of its new combined weekly service with Sea Consortium Pte LTd. on the Arabian Express Service (ASX) that commenced December 27, 2008.
