Arkas Bunkering, Sumitomo Corporation in LNG Bunkering Deal

Arkas Bunkering have signed a protocol with Japan-based Sumitomo Corporation for the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as bunker fuel in Turkish and nearby seas. As environmentally-friendly buildings, vessels and fuels have become more popular than ever, new applications acting as reminders for both states and civil initiatives of their environmental responsibilities continue to emerge. With International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) global sulphur cap set to enter into force in 2020, the maximum amount of sulphur allowed to be contained in bunker fuel will be reduced worldwide. Exxonmobil Signs Agreement

EXXONMOBIL Marine Fuels (EMMF), the world's largest supplier of marine fuels, has signed a supply agreement with NT Marine of Estonia, the biggest marine fuels trader in the region extending from Tallin in Estonia to St. Petersburg in Russia. The agreement initially covers St Petersburg and all the main ports in Estonia, including Tallin, Muuga, and Paldiski. to cover other ports, depending on industry developments in the region. EMMF will be supplying a full range of marine fuels products. And existing EMMF customers will be given priority in terms of fuel purchases in the region transacted through NT Marine, which is able to offer an in-line blending barge service to fuel purchasers.

ExxonMobil Has New Supply on Gulf Coast

ExxonMobil Marine Fuels (EMMF) has strengthened its presence in the Gulf region by securing an agreement to supply bunkers ex-pipe at the Sun Nederland Terminal near Beaumont,Texas. The new supply location will offer a full range of bunker products, comprising IFO 380, IFO 180 and MDO at the Sun Nederland terminal berths 1-4. The facility is primarily a crude storage and distribution terminal capable of handling barge traffic and vessels up to Aframax size. Joe Rud, general manager of fleet purchasing, business development and e-commerce at EMMF, says, "We are delighted to have strengthened our presence in this strategic area, particularly since many of the vessels going into the Sun Nederland terminal are under contract to ExxonMobil.

Singapore To Hold International Bunkering Conference

The 12th Singapore International Bunkering Conference (SIBCON) 2002, to be held from September 26-28, 2002 at the Shangri-La, Singapore, will be officially opened by Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Senior Minister of State for Transport, and Information, Communications & the Arts on 26 Sep 2002. Khaw would also be delivering the opening address for the ceremony. This biennial event will bring together some 25 maritime and marine fuel experts from around the world to speak on the latest international trends and developments in bunkering, and the challenges facing the industry. They represent the oil majors, shipping lines, bunker traders, bunker suppliers, and classification societies.
