Yang Ming Launches New China-Malaysia Direct Service

Taiwanese ocean shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (YM) has announced the launch of CMS service (China-Malaysia service) with effect on February 23rd, 2019 (estimated time of berth from Qingdao).The service is jointly operated by Yang Ming, Gold Star Line Ltd.(GSL), T.S. Lines Co., Ltd (TSL) and CNC, a brand of APL Co. Pte Ltd. Each carrier will deploy a container vessel of nominal 4,250 TEU capacity, said a statement from the marine transportation company.The ports of call are Qingdao, Shanghai, Xiamen, Nansha, Port Kelang, Penang, Port Kelang, Pasir Gudang, Shekou, Hong Kong, Qingdao. A round trip will take 28 days.In addition to the Intra-Asia deployment of more than 35 services, YM continues to strengthen its service network.

Evergreen, Wan Hai Lines Enhance Asia Services

Evergreen Line has reached an agreement with Wan Hai Lines to exchange slots on Evergreen's NSA/NSB services, as well as Wan Hai's KSS/KVS services with effect from Feb. 22, 2009. The agreement between the two Taiwanese ocean carriers will enhance Evergreen's service network in the intra-Asia trade. The impacted services have the following port rotations:The NSA service rotation is as follows: Osaka - Kobe - Iwakuni - Moji - Hakata - Taipei - Taichung - Kaohsiung - Nansha - Shekou - Hong Kong. The KSS service rotation is as follows: Penang - Port Klang - Pasir Gudang - Singapore - Hong Kong - Kaohsiung - Keelung - Inchon - Kwangyang - Pusan- Keelung- Kaohsiung- Hong Kong- Singapore- Port Klang-Penang.

Radio Holland Group Opens New Office in Malaysia

Radio Holland Group has opened a new office in Malaysia on February 26. It is the 49th branch office in the worldwide organization of the Radio Holland Group. The official opening of the Malaysian office took place at the Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort, Pasir Gudang, Johor. Present as a guest of honor was Dato’ Mohd Taufik Abdullah, Chairman of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Executive Chairman of Johor Port. He performed the official opening together with Mr. Group. Approximately 100 guests from Malaysia and Singapore attended the event. Radio Holland Malaysia is Radio Holland’s response to the increasing marine activities in Malaysia and specifically in the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, which had another record-breaking year in 2003 with an annual throughput of almost 3.5 million TEU.

FHT Awarded Amenam Contract

Rotterdam based Fairmount Heavy Transport (FHT) NV has been awarded the contract by Saibos Akogep SNC to transport and install the AMP2 Topside for Total. Due to contractual requirements, Fairmount Heavy Transport is requested to keep commercial terms confidential. The scope of the work for Fairmount Heavy Transport includes the engineering of the transport and installation project, the load out of the AMP2 Topside (about 11,000 tons) on the barge Fairmount Fjell in the tidal port of Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, the transportation of this module from Malaysia to the float-over location offshore in Nigeria and the float-over, positioning and installation of the AMP2 Topside on its jacket. The contract will occupy the Fairmount Fjell for June to September 2006.

Ship Explodes at Malaysian Yard, Four Workers Killed

An explosion on a ship being repaired in Malaysia's southern state of Johor killed at least four shipyard workers, news reports said on Wednesday. The unidentified merchant vessel was docked at the Malaysian Shipyard and Engineering Sdn Bhd's quarters at the port of Pasir Gudang when the explosion reportedly occurred at about 10 a.m.). It was reported that at least four workers were killed as a result of suffocation. The blaze, whose cause remains unknown, broke out after the explosion but was put out by firefighters
