Alabama-based boatbuilder Silver Ships said it has been awarded a contract award worth $6.12 million from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to supply six Riverine Patrol Boats (RPB).The Riverine Patrol Boat is a U. Master Marine, Inc. has delivered a second towboat for Osage Marine Services, Inc. The newly built M/V Frank Mellor, like its sister ship, is a 67’ x 28’ vessel designed by Entech Designs, LLC. Effective January 1, 2019, Trace Laborde was named Marine Manager of Laborde Products, Inc.Trace previously held the role of Branch Manager of Laborde Products Houston Operations, with responsibility of the Marine business in the Texas Market. Going forward Trace will be responsible for continuing the growth of Laborde Products’ marine business. Master Marine, Inc. has signed Six (6) towboats and has laid the keels for the first two vessels. All Six (6) vessels will be 67’ x 28’ Entech Designs, LLC Sub. M compliant towboats. The first two will be working for Osage Marine Services, Inc., St. Louis, MO. with the rest operating in the lower Mississippi River system for an undisclosed customer. Hise, the third towboat in a series of four newbuilds for Illinois-based inland operator Waterfront Services Co.The 67’ x 28’ boat is set up with 10,400 gallons of fuel, 4,359 gallons of potable water and 9,500 gallons of ballast water along with providing a maximum 7’ 9” working draft.Each vessel will be powered by a pair of Laborde Products, Inc. Laborde Products, Inc., provided a two-day class to enable U.S. Navy's Special Boat Teams to maintain and repair the engines that power the Special Operations Craft—Riverine (SOC-R). Certified Yanmar Technician Randy Saacks and other Laborde engine professionals demonstrated disassembly, assembly and trouble-shooting. "This training ensures that the members of the Navy's Special Boat Teams have the skills required to get the job done no matter where they're deployed and regardless of what problems they may encounter," said Laborde COO Doug Oehrlein.

Laborde Products, Inc. of Covington, La. has entered into a Marine Engine Distribution Agreement with Mitsubishi Engine North America, Inc. This agreement includes the full range of MHI large bore marine engines as well as MMC Diesel Engines for generator packages and barge pump power packages. Although Mitsubishi offers a full range of marine propulsion engines with horsepower up to 1,500, Laborde will begin its effort with the Mitsubishi model S6A3-MPTA, rated at 483 hp @ 1,840 rpm. This heavy-duty 18.56-liter diesel engine was selected because it meets a wide range of potential re-power applications within the inland towing industry.

Three Vericor Power Systems' TF50 marine aeroderivative gas turbines have been selected to power the 118 Wallypower high-speed yacht being built by Intermarine Shipyard, Sarzana, Italy for Wally Yacht. This is Wally Yacht's first foray into high-speed power yachts, and the company's initial application of gas turbines. Wally Yacht, based in Monte Carlo, Monaco, is a world-renowned designer of high-speed sailing and power yachts. The 118-ft. yacht will feature three TF50 gas turbines in a Combined Diesel Or Gas (CODOG) turbine configuration. Two TF50s will be used as side or "wing" engines, with one small auxiliary diesel engine connected to each wing engine. The diesels will provide for very slow maneuvering only.
