Shell Gets Mexico LNG Supply Tender
Royal Dutch Shell will supply Mexico with six LNG cargoes to be delivered in May and June, Reuters has reported, citing trade sources. State-run utility CFE held a tender on 2 May for deliveries to Mexico’s Altamira terminal in the Gulf of Mexico. According to the tender, deliveries are set to be made to the Vopak-operated Altamira LNG import terminal on Mexico’s Atlantic coast. There are six delivery windows for each cargo staggered throughout May and June. The delivery windows for the cargoes are May 11-13, 18-20, 27-29, June 5-7, 13-15 and 21-23, according to the document. Besides Altamira, Mexico imports liquefied natural gas through the Costa Azul LNG terminal and the Manzanillo LNG facility.

The many milestones in the development of Markey’s Asymmetrical Render/Recover (ARR) – technology by which hawser winches are able to maintain mean line pulls up to the bollard pull of the tug – came over a period of time that spans 25 years. The initial 20+ years of hawser winch design and Render/Recover development followed a traditional design path, influenced, in part, by market pressures.
First RAstar 3200 Tugs from Robert Allan Ltd.
In late February, 2009, the RAstar 3200 Class tug Monterrey was delivered to the Owners Servicios Marítimos de Baja California, S. de R.L de C.V. of Mexico by the builders Union Naval Valencia (UNV) of Valencia, Spain. Servicios Marítimos de Baja California, S. de R.L de C.V. is a joint venture between Moran Towing of the USA and Grupo Boluda of Spain. This tug is the first of four expressly designed to work at the Costa Azul LNG terminal on the north-west coast of Mexico, at a terminal exposed to fully developed Pacific swells.
