Japanese Shipbuilders Go Forward with LCO2 Carriers for Large-Scale Transport

Mitsubishi Corporation’s Pyxis Ocean, chartered by Cargill, is the first vessel to be retrofitted with two BAR Tech WindWings.The 37.5 meter sails were produced by Yara Marine Technologies and are expected to generate average fuel savings of up to 30% on new build vessels.The installation of the wings took place at the COSCO shipyard in China and the Pyxis Ocean is now on the water, conducting her maiden voyage.“The maritime industry is on a journey to decarbonize—it's not an easy one, but it is an exciting one,” said Jan Dieleman, President of Cargill’s Ocean transportation business.

Hyundai Samho Delivers Diamond Gas Victoria LNG Tanker

Japan's NYK Line said Wednesday it had, as part of Diamond LNG Shipping 6 consortium, taken delivery of the Diamond Gas Victoria LNG gas carrier.The LNG carrier will transport LNG from British Columbia for the LNG Canada project, as well as from other locations around the world, under a long-term time-charter contract with Diamond Gas International, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), which has a stake in the LNG Canada project.The vessel was built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and is owned by NYK, Asia LNG Transport Dua Sdn. Shipbuilding: LNG Carrier Diamond Gas Crystal Delivered

On May 31, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Diamond Gas Crystal, was delivered, built to transport LNG from LNG Canada project in British Columbia, as well as from other locations around the world, under an 18-year time-charter contract with Diamond Gas International Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) who also has a stake in the LNG Canada project.The ship was built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and is owned by NYK, Asia LNG Transport Dua Sdn. Bhd. (ALT Dua), and MC through the joint venture Diamond LNG Shipping 5 Pte. Ltd.

Santos, BW Offshore Sign $4,6B Barossa FPSO Deal

Australian oil and gas company Santos has signed a contract with FPSO supplier BW Offshore for the delivery of an FPSO for the Barossa gas field, located 300 kilometers offshore Darwin in Australia. Japanese Partners Join Asahi's Electric Vessel Project

A group of Japanese partner companies have signed onto a project initiated by Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd. to build the world's first zero-emission, fully electric-propulsion bunker supply vessel.The so-called e5 Consortium, including Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd., Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd., Exeno Yamamizu Corporation, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., Tokyo Electric Power Company, and Mitsubishi Corporation, say they will work toward developing, realizing and commercializing zero-emission electric vessels.

Ofgem Selects Hornsea One OFTO

UK energy regulator, the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), has selected Diamond Transmission Partners as the preferred bidder for the offshore transmission of the 1200MW Hornsea Project One wind farm in the UK.Diamond Transmission Partners  is a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation and Chubu Electric Power. Louisiana LNG Unit Starts Production

Train 2 of the Cameron LNG project in Hackberry, Louisiana, has begun producing liquefied natural gas (LNG), announced McDermott International and its joint venture partner, Chiyoda International Corporation, a U.S.-based wholly-owned subsidiary of Chiyoda Corporation, Japan.While production is in the initial phases, this significant project accomplishment is a precursor to substantial completion of Train 2."This accomplishment is attributable to the entire team's unwavering commitment to project delivery and steadfast focus on safety and quality performance as we work toward completion of Train 2," said Mark Coscio, McDermott's Senior Vice President for North, Central and South America.

Japanese Partners Buy into Sepetiba FPSO

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) have purchased minority interests in the lease and operation of a newbuild floating production, storage and offloading unity (FPSO) from majority owner SBM Offshore. FPSO Sepetiba, formerly known as Mero 2, is currently under construction and will be leased for 22.5 years to Petrobras for deployment at the Mero field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. MC acquired 20% and NYK acquired 15.5% ownership interest in the companies.

Cameron LNG Begins Commercial Service

Cameron LNG Begins Production

The Cameron LNG project has achieved first liquefied natural gas (LNG) production from train 1. The project will begin exports in the coming weeks.The project is operated by Cameron LNG LLC jointly owned by Sempra Energy (50.2%), Total (16.6%), Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (16.6%) and Mitsubishi/NYK (16.6%). NYK participates through Japan LNG Investments LLC (JLI), an NYK–Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) joint venture.NYK said in a press release that the Project will produce 12 million tons of LNG per annum through three liquefaction trains.This first batch of LNG was produced by the first liquefaction train. Cameron LNG Project in Final Stage

Gas4Sea, Equinor in LNG Bunkering Pact

Marine LNG Zeebrugge, a joint venture of the Gas4Sea partners - ENGIE, Mitsubishi Corporation and NYK - has signed an agreement with the Norwegian multinational energy group Equinor.Under the agreement, Marine LNG Zeebrugge will supply liquefied natural gas as a marine fuel to Equinor’s four crude shuttle tankers in the Dutch port of Rotterdam.The four planned dual fuel vessels are to come into service in early 2020; they will be operated by Equinor in Northern European seas.Marine LNG Zeebrugge will supply LNG using the LNG bunkering vessel ENGIE Zeebrugge which started operations in 2017.
