TechnipFMC Begins Operations Post-merger

TechnipFMC has begun operating as a unified oil and gas services company following completion of the merger of Houston-based FMC Technologies and paris-based Technip. Now with a combined 44,000 employees, the new TechnipFMC will work on oil and gas projects, technologies, systems and services “from concept to project delivery and beyond” with headquarters in Houston, London and Paris. A key focus for TechnipFMC will be project economics across subsea, onshore/offshore and surface, the company said in a press release.

Designees to The TechnipFMC Board Announced

Technip S.A. (Euronext: TEC) and FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) today announced their respective designees to the Board of Directors of the combined company, TechnipFMC, effective at the close of the proposed combination. The Board of Directors of the combined company will comprise 14 directors, seven designated by FMC Technologies and seven designated by Technip as set forth below. FMC Technologies will appoint the initial Independent Lead Director, in accordance with the terms of the Business Combination Agreement. The Board of Directors will have four committees: Audit, Nominating and Governance, Compensation, and Strategy. Technip to Modernize Flexi France

Technip announces an investment over four years to modernize its flexible pipe manufacturing plant, Flexi France, in Le Trait, France. Further strengthening Technip’s expertise and industrial capabilities at the site will reinforce its global position in the production of flexible pipes, for the development of offshore oil and gas fields. This modernization plan focuses on the installation of new-generation machines and site optimization to fit 12 meter diameter reels, on which flexible pipes are spooled. Increasing the reel capacity from 9.6 to 12 meters in diameter will provide room for twice as much flexible pipes on each reel. Technip's investment will also create a new area dedicated to the testing of the world’s most sophisticated flexible pipes.

Three European firms win Angola deepwater deals

Three European companies have won contracts for almost half the value of Angola's $16 billion ultra-deepwater Kaombo oil project, confirming a trend toward bigger scale and risk for the deep-sea contracting and construction sector. Saipem of Italy announced a $4 billion contract related to fitting out and supplying two converted oil tankers to become the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) part of the project. Meanwhile, Paris-listed Technip and crane-ship specialist Heerema revealed a $3.5 billion deal for subsea tubes, pipes and cables to connect the two FPSOs to the seabed two kilometres below the surface. Heerema said the contract was the biggest on record of its kind.

World's First FLNG Vessel Steel-Cutting

A steel cutting ceremony for the hull of Petronas' first Floating Liquid Natural Gas (FLNG) held at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, South Korea. The steel cutting event signifies a major milestone for the project, which according to Petronas is the world’s first, and the construction phase now commences to meet its commissioning schedule in 2015. The ceremony was led by Petronas’ President and Group CEO, Tan Sri Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas and was jointly hosted by Technip’s President & CEO Mr. Thierry Pilenko and DSME’s President & CEO Mr. Jaeho Ko. The floating LNG facility will be located in Malaysia’s Kanowit gas field, 180 kilometres offshore Sarawak and will have the capacity to produce 1.2 mtpa of LNG per year.

Subsea Arctic, Black Sea: Technip Signs Russia J/V's

Technip signs two agreements with State Corporation Russian Technologies (Rostec) for subsea equipment production. Technip and RT-Chemcomposite Holding Company, a Rostec subsidiary, signed a memorandum of understanding to express their intention to form a joint-venture (JV) company for subsea activities in Russia. Under the terms of this memorandum, the joint venture is a cooperation in the production of equipment for the oil and gas industry and in particular flexible composite pipes based on Technip’s technology. It allows to produce oil and gas at the depth of down to 3,000 meters and provides for speedy pipe laying operations. They will also intend to evaluate the possibility of establishing a research and development center.

Technip name subsea construction & flexible pipelay projects vessel 'Deep Orient' in Vigo, Spain. During the ceremony held at the Metalships & Docks (MSD) shipyard in Vigo, the ship was named by the vessel’s godmother, Véronique Delormel, wife of Frédéric Delormel, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Subsea at Technip. Thanks to a successful cooperation between Technip's Marine New Builds team in Aberdeen, UK and the MSD team, vessel construction was completed within a tight time frame.

Technip Acquires Stone & Webster

Technip acquires Stone & Webster process technologies & associated oil & gas engineering capabilities from the Shaw Group. Technip paid cash consideration of around €225 million from existing cash resources, which will be subject to customary price adjustments. •    Add skilled resources, notably in research in the US, and engineering in the US, the UK and India. Technip-Daiwoo Get Malaysia FLNG Contract

Technip, in a consortium with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (TDC) has been awarded by Petronas Floating LNG 1 (Labuan) Ltd, a services contract for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility of 1.2 million ton per year maximun capacity. The 300 meter-long and 60 meter-wide FLNG facility will be located offshore Malaysia. The contract is an Alliance between TDC, led by Technip, and Petronas. Technip’s portion is composed of project management services and lump sum for engineering. The detailed design of the topsides(1) will be executed by Technip’s operating centers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Paris, France.

Technip Acquires Control of Cybernétix

Technip entered into an agreement with Gilles MICHEL, his holding Askoad Conseil, Comex SA and Sercel Holding, for the acquisition of all of their interests in Cybernétix S.A., representing approximately 45.7% of Cybernétix’s share capital, at an aggregate purchase price of approximately 14.1 million euros. Signing of this agreement follows today's positive opinion of Cybernétix Works' Council in relation to Technip’s acquisition of the entire interests of  Cybernétix reference shareholders, as announced in the press release of November 4, 2011. Technip Samsung Consortium Begins Shell’s FLNG Facility

Shell Development (Australia) Pty Ltd (Shell) has given notice to a Technip Samsung Consortium (TSC) to proceed with the construction of the first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in the world. TSC will provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation for the FLNG facility Shell will deploy at its Prelude gas field off the northwest coast of Australia. Moored far out at sea, some 200 kilometres from the nearest land, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce gas from offshore fields and liquefy it onboard by cooling.

Bates, Jr. Chairman at Hercules Offshore

Hercules Offshore, Inc. (NASDAQ: HERO) announced that Chairman John T. Reynolds submitted his resignation from the company's board of directors, effective December 31, 2009, to focus on other business interests and his role as co-founder and managing director of Lime Rock Management L.P. Thomas R. Bates, Jr., who has been a director of Hercules Offshore since the company's inception in 2004, will assume the role of Chairman upon Reynolds' departure. Bates served as President of the Discovery Group of Baker Hughes Inc., President and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford/Enterra, Inc. and as President of Anadrill at Schlumberger Limited, among other positions. Bates received a Bachelor's, Master's and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Shell Gas & Power Developments BV signed a master agreement with a consortium comprising Technip and Samsung for the design, construction and installation of multiple floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities over a period of up to fifteen years. Shell Gas & Power Developments BV (Shell) signed a master agreement with a consortium comprising Technip and Samsung for the design, construction and installation of multiple floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities over a period of up to fifteen years, the company reported. Shell and Technip-Samsung also signed a contract for execution of the front end engineering and design (FEED) for Shell's 3.5 million ton per annum (mtpa) FLNG solution. The broad operating parameters of the Shell design mean it can be redeployed.

Noble, OTC Distinguished Achievement Award

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will present the 2009 Distinguished Achievement Awards to Peter G. Noble for his marine design innovations and to Sakhalin Energy Investment Company for the Sakhalin II Phase 2 Project. The presentation will take place at the annual OTC Awards Luncheon on 5 May at Reliant Center in Houston, Texas, USA. The OTC will be held 4-7 May 2009, marking the event's 40th anniversary. John Harrison Appointed General Counsel of Technip

Technip appoints John Harrison to its Executive Committee as General Counsel. In this newly created function, John Harrison will as General Counsel be responsible in the Executive Committee for all group legal, corporate and compliance matters and will report to the Chairman and CEO of Technip, Thierry Pilenko. Prior to his appointment and since 2003, John Harrison was General Counsel of the Defence and Security Division of EADS. Harrison brings international experience to Technip having started his career in 1991 at the international law firm Clifford Chance, working consecutively in their London, New York and Paris offices. From 1998 onwards he held senior legal positions in Airbus and in the EADS Group.

Technip to Build New Pipelay Vessel

Technip awarded STX Heavy Industries (Korea) a contract for the construction of its new pipelay vessel. This 194m-long vessel will have twin 2,800 ton reels. She will have a top tension capacity of 450 tons for laying rigid steel pipes and flexible products up to 18-in. in diameter through a dedicated lay tower installed at the stern. She will also be equipped with a 150 ton crane, a PLET (pipeline end terminations) handling system and accommodation for 140 people. With a transit speed of 20 knots, she has been specifically designed to minimize intercontinental transits and allow her efficient deployment in all deep water regions of the world.
