US Firm Says Mexican Authorities Illegally Seized Its Port Terminal
U.S. construction materials firm Vulcan Materials Co said on Monday that Mexican security forces illegally took possession last week of its port terminal in southern Mexico, as an extended legal battle over its nearby limestone mining activities plays out.The incident took place last Tuesday night at the terminal in the popular tourist hub of Playa del Carmen, and follows a five-year fight with the government over Vulcan's concessions punctuated by sharp criticism from the country's president last year.Vulcan…
ION Bags Multi-Client Job in C. America
ION Geophysical Corporation has announced a new 2D multi-client reimaging program off the Pacific coast of Central America.According to the provider of acquisition equipment, software, planning and seismic processing services, and seismic data libraries to the global oil & gas industry, the Maya Reprocessing program covers unexplored open acreage that has not had E&P activity in 40 years. Previous exploration wells along the margin suggest the presence of an active petroleum system in the Pacific forearc basins. E&P companies can use these data to evaluate the prospective areas identified from the reimaged data. The program covers ~9,000 km of data that extend from the Tehuantepec Basin of Southern Mexico to the Sandino Basin of Western Nicaragua and creates a calibrated data set.
EMGS Permitted for Multi-client Survey in Mexico
EMGS has received permits from Mexico's Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos (CNH) authorizing the acquisition of up to approximately 88,000 square km 3D EM multi-client data in the Salina de Itsmo Basin. EMGS will prioritize acquiring EM data for the future bid rounds in Mexico as outlined in the ''Plan Quinquenal de Licitaciones para la Exploración y Extracción de Hidrocarburos 2015-2019'' announced by theSecretaría de Energía (SENER) in early July. "We are pleased and encouraged by the recently announced 5 year plan for future licensing rounds offshore Mexico. It pairs well with our plans in Mexico and the received CNH permits and enables us to now actively seek funding of our projects", says Juan M. Santana, President EMGS North and South America.
