ABC Engines to Equip Jan De Nul’s Largest Cable Layer Yet

Offshore installation services company Jan De Nul has ordered methanol marine engines from ABC Engines for its new cable-laying vessel Fleeming Jenkin with ‘unrivalled cable-carrying capacity’.The order includes four 7,200 kW engines and one 1,800 kW engine that can run on (bio)diesel, HVO and methanol.Using green methanol, the engines are also climate neutral and due to the unique combination with the ULEv technology they also meet the strict Stage V standard for particulate matter and Euro 6 standard for nitrogen.According to Jan De Nul…

Jan De Nul Orders Offshore Cable Layer with Record-Breaking Capacity

Offshore installation services company Jan De Nul has ordered an extra-large cable-laying ship with an "unrivaled" cable-carrying capacity from China's CMHI Haimen shipyard.The vessel, to be named Fleeming Jenkin, will have a cable-carrying capacity of 28,000 tons, and will serve the renewable energy and subsea cable industry in installing cables over longer distances and in deeper waters. The vessel will be delivered in 2026. "Offshore wind farms go deeper and further offshore, and the interconnectivity between countries and regions become essential for the economy and energy security.

Jan De Nul Group's new water injection dredger Cosette was launched on Wednesday at the Neptune Marine shipyard near Dordrecht in the NetherlandsThe newbuild, scheduled to be completed in this autumn, is a sister vessel to the Pancho, delivered earlier this year. The design of both vessels is based on an existing vessel design from the Neptune’s workboat portfolio. Jan De Nul's Water Injection Dredger Pancho Launched

Jan De Nul Group’s new water injection dredger Pancho was launched at the Neptune Marine shipyard near Dordrecht in the Netherlands. The dredger will be used mainly in the Argentine dredging market, but will be available for projects elsewhere as well.The design of this newbuild vessel is based on an existing vessel design from Neptune’s workboat portfolio. Flood Attracted to Water

Appropriate, isn’t it, that a man name Flood made his mark on the world painting nautical scenes. Born on the fourth of July in Philadelphia, James Flood has been sketching and painting from the time he was four. His early years embody the stereotypical mold of the artist type — restless and distracted at school, doggedly pursuing his craft and developing his talent, often to the dismay of family. His dedication to the subject was instilled in him at a young age, and was a passion that had outlets beyond the paintbrush and canvas. Flood recalls with joy memories of a young boy who would meticulously create and "sail" his very own fleet of motorized ship models. "I've had a lifelong fascination and attraction to water," he said.

Evergreen Group Supports U.K. National Maritime Museum

Last week witnessed the official opening of the UK National Maritime Museum (NMM)’s ‘Art for the Nation’ exhibition, sponsored by Taiwan’s Evergreen Group via its charitable arm, the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation. The exhibition brings together for the first time under one roof the Museum’s extensive fine art collection, featuring paintings by great names such as Turner, Hogarth, Gainsborough and Reynolds, as well as works by the Dutch Van de Velde family. HRH the Prince of Wales was present at the opening ceremony along with an array of VIP guests including Maurice Storey, Honorary Chairman of the Evergreen Group’s UK-based container line Hatsu Marine Limited.
