Lukoil-backed Congo Project to Start Producing LNG in December

A senior executive at Russia's Lukoil energy company said a project in the Congo in which it is involved would begin producing liquefied natural gas (LNG) in December, Russian news agencies reported. Lukoil Vice President Ivan Romanovsky said the initiative would produce around 600,000 tonnes of LNG per year, and that Lukoil plans to boost total LNG output at the Marine XII oil and gas project in the Congo to 3 million tonnes by the end of 2025.Lukoil acquired a 25% stake in Marine XII in 2019.

Exxon's Russian Oil Output Collapsed after Rejecting Local Tanker Insurance

Oil output at the giant Exxon-led Sakhalin-1 Russian Pacific project collapsed following the U.S. major's refusal to accept local insurance for tankers after Western insurers pulled out due to sanctions, several industry sources told Reuters. Western insurers withdrew cover from tankers operated by state-run Sovcomflot, Russia's biggest shipping group, which was sanctioned following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. "Exxon has refused to take Sovcomflot's tankers," one industry source said.

Santos Selects Altera for Dorado FPSO FEED

Australian oil and gas company Santos has awarded the FEED contract for the FPSO for the Dorado project offshore W. Australia to Altera Infrastructure.Located in the Bedout Sub-basin, Dorado is an oil and gas project which is planned to be developed in two phases. The initial development involves the production of oil and condensate through a wellhead platform (WHP) and FPSO. Canada Steamship Lines Decommissions 41-Year-old Bulker

Canada Steamship Lines' 41-year-old self-unloading bulk carrier Salarium has reached the end of its service life and will be dismantled at a ship recycling yard in Turkey, CSL Group announced.The long-serving 35,656 DWT bulker made its final voyage at the end of 2019, loading salt in Bécancour, Que. on December 19 for discharge it in Oshawa, Ont. on December 27. Highlands Natural Resources Completes Six Well

Highlands Natural Resources said six new wells on the East Denver shale oil and gas project in Colorado have been completed, with flowback starting on three of the six.The London-listed natural resources company said in a stock exchange annoucement that the existing Powell well has started production, and the Wildhorse well is being prepared to resume production in the near future.Provisional data from the three new wells flowing back, Buckskin, Grizzly and Ouray, indicate that these wells should perform in line with the existing two wells drilled by Highlands, which have been ranked in the top 3% of all Niobrara wells in the Denver Julesburg basin.Flowback from the remaining three new wells…

Offshore Cape Three Points Begins Gas Delivery to Ghana

Vitol said that the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) integrated oil and gas project offshore Ghana has commenced delivery of gas from the Sankofa field to Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).Both Vitol and GNPC are partners in the OCTP project alongside operator Eni. The offshore project is expected to provide stable supplies of cost effective and environmentally friendly, domestic fuel for the Ghanaian power sector, said Vitol.The estimated net cost of gas to Ghana will be less than $4.5/MMBtu, greatly reducing Ghana’s fuel costs compared to liquid fuels or imported gas.The project will provide approximately 180 MMscf/d for at least 15 years, sufficient to supply half of Ghana’s power generation requirements.

Maersk Oil, Partners Approve USD 3.2bln Tyra Gas Project

Maersk Oil has announced that the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC) has approved an investment of approximately 21bn DKK in the full redevelopment of the Tyra gas field. The announcement follows the Danish Parliament’s approval to implement legislation to secure the investment. The redevelopment of Tyra ensures continued production from Denmark’s largest gas field, and will protect and rejuvenate important Danish North Sea infrastructure. Shell Approves New Gulf of Mexico Project

Royal Dutch Shell has given the go-ahead to develop its Kaikias deepwater field in the Gulf of Mexico, the first such project the oil and gas company has approved in 18 months. Oil companies around the world are emerging from one of the longest downturns in recent decades amid warnings that the drop in investment in recent years may lead to a supply deficit by the end of the decade. Shell said the Kaikias oil and gas project, located some 210 kilometres (130 miles) from the Louisiana coast, will start production in 2019 and generate profits with oil prices lower than $40 a barrel after the company slashed its costs by around 50 percent due to simplified design plans. Oil prices were around $56 a barrel on Tuesday.

NileDutch Acquires Safmarine MPV

NileDutch, West Africa specialist container line based in the Netherlands, will take over the final portion of Safmarine MPV, which sails a mixture of containers and project cargo to and from West Africa. Safmarine MPV is owned by Denmark’s Maersk Line. The operations of Safmarine MPVs Europe to West Africa services will continue as NileDutch MPV with the first sailing commencing in April. The acquisition marks the start of NileDutch’s venture into the multipurpose vessel business, enabling it to offer services to customers of containerized, oil and gas, project and conventional cargo to carry a mix of cargo on the same vessel under a single bill of lading.

ABIS Projects has won a clutch of contracts worth around £1million over the next 15 months. The oil and gas project services consultancy has secured frame agreements and call-off contracts with ADTI, Hunting, Talisman Sinopec and North Sea newcomer, MOL. Aberdeen-based ABIS Projects is working with these new clients providing multi-discipline resources covering business strategy, acquisitions, risk, projects and management systems across the supply chain. NWS Approve Persephone Project

participants have approved the Persephone Project off the north-west coast of Australia. The Persephone Project is the third major gas development for the NWS Project in the past six years, demonstrating the joint venture’s commitment to maximising the value of Australia’s largest operating oil and gas project. The project will involve a two well, 7km subsea tieback from the Persephone field to the existing North Rankin Complex. Express Global Logistics Pvt Ltd., performed another outstanding job by ship chartering, safe and timely loading, survey and Ocean Transportation of 130 Mt x 1 cable Reel on M.V. ABIS DUSAVIK from Newcastle Port U.K to Mina Zayed Port, Abu Dhabi. The vessel commendably stowed a 541 CBM on lower hold/under deck. The reel weighted up to 130 MT & measurements of up to 9.40 X 6.128 X 9.40 (Mtrs). It is destined for Oil and Gas Project in the Abu Dhabi. Last December, EXG had carried 2 Reels 284 MT each & measurements of up to 9.38 X 5.91 X 9.20 (Mtrs). They were destined for 3 Well Head Platform Project in the Abu Dhabi. Like last time,the said movement was also absolutely critical and time bound.

ISS Acquisition of Merkez Strengthens Turkey Cruise Capability

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), a maritime services provider, has acquired the Turkish cruise agency specialist Merkez Deniz Acenteligi ve Ticaret A.S (Merkez). Floating Production Market Forecast

Today, 319 oil/gas floating production units are now in service, on order or available for reuse on another field. FPSOs account for 65% of the existing systems, 74% of systems on order. Another 25 floating LNG processing systems are in service or on order. Liquefaction floaters account for 12%, regasification floaters 88%. No liquefaction floaters are yet in service – all three are on order. In addition, 101 floating storage units are in service, on order or available. The number of production units off field and available for redeployment continues to grow.

The number of floating production units grew 5% in 2013. Here we examine the global market and future opportunities. Currently, there are 319 oil/gas floating production units are now in service, on order or available for reuse on another field. FPSOs account for 65% of the existing systems, 75% of systems on order. Another 24 floating LNG processing systems are in service or on order. Liquefaction floaters account for 13%, regasification floaters 87%. No liquefaction floaters are yet in service – all three are on order.

Costain Completes EPC Offshore Acquisition

Aberdeen-based specialist oil and gas project management services company EPC Offshore has been acquired by Costain, a U.K. Tier One engineering solutions providers. The deal marks the launch of Costain Upstream, a new divisional operation combining EPC Offshore’s capabilities with ClerkMaxwell, the oil and gas engineering and support services provider which was acquired by Costain in 2011. Costain Upstream, which will comprise a resource pool of over 350 people and provide services across the life-cycle of upstream offshore oil and gas assets, will deliver engineering, capital projects and asset support services across four principal service lines: field development, subsea facilities, topside facilities and floating systems.

ABB Wins Third Ichthys FPSO Major Contract

ABB appointed main electrical contractor (MEC) for a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel at the Ichthys oil & gas field in the Timor Sea off Western Australia. The order is worth $30 million and was awarded by the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the FPSO, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. This is the third major contract that ABB has been awarded for the Ichthys oil and gas project. Recently ABB was awarded a $15 million order by Samsung Heavy Industries to be the MEC for the Ichthys central processing facility, which, when completed will be the largest offshore production facility in the world.

ABB appointed main electrical contractor for new semi-submersible central processing facility (CPF) at Ichthys oil & gas field in the Timor Sea off Western Australia. Chevron's UK Offshore Rosebank Project Update

Chevron Corporation announce that its U.K. subsidiary has entered front-end engineering and design (FEED) on the Rosebank oil and gas project in the West of Shetland region. The Chevron-operated Rosebank project is located approximately 80 miles (130 kilometers) northwest of the Shetland Islands, in water depths of approximately 3,700 feet (1,100 meters). The project will include a floating production, storage and offloading vessel, production and water injection wells, subsea facilities, and a gas export pipeline. “Rosebank is an important project for Chevron and the West of Shetland region, which holds a significant portion of the U.K.’s undeveloped oil and gas resources,” said Brenda Dulaney, managing director, Chevron Upstream Europe.
