Seanergy Takes Delivery of 2009-built Bulk Carrier. Secures Charter with NYK Line

Seanergy Maritime Holdings Corp. has taken delivery of the M/V Friendship bulk carrier.The vessel is a 176,952 dwt Capesize bulk carrier, built in 2009 by Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Japan. "The M/V Friendship is the fifth Capesize delivery that Seanergy has successfully completed in 2021 to date," the company said.Seanergy also said that the has been fixed on a time charter with Japan's NYK Line, which is an existing charterer of Seanergy. Navios Announces Delivery of Three Vessels

Navios Maritime Partners L.P., an owner and operator of dry cargo vessels,  has taken delivery of the following three drybulk vessels: Navios Amitie - a 2021-built, Kamsarmax vessel with 82,002 dwt, was delivered into Navios Partners’ fleet on May 28, 2021. The vessel is chartered out at a rate of 110% of average Baltic Panamax Index (BPI 82) until May 2024. Based on BPI 82 weighted time charter average as of June 10, 2021, the vessel would earn approximately $31,720 per day. Navios Star â€“ a 2021-built Kamsarmax vessel with 82,037 dwt, was delivered into Navios Partners’ fleet on June 10, 2021. The vessel is chartered out at a rate of 110% of average Baltic Panamax Index (BPI 82) until June 2024.

Capesize Index Turns Negative for the First Time Ever

Capesize index plummets to -133, the first time ever in negative territory – is it all up from here?The Baltic Exchange Capesize Index (BCI) dropped to -133 index points on February 4, 2020, turning negative for the first time ever on January 31, 2020. The composite BDI index (BDI), which has excluded the more stable handysize segment since March 2018, also dropped on February 4, 2020 to settle at 453 index points.The BCI has been on a freefall through the entirety of December, but the descent started to pick up more steam during the past couple of weeks.

China’s increased use of scrap metal for its production of crude steel is fundamentally critical to the dry bulk shipping industry. Mostly Capesize ships are impacted by this, way beyond the temporary iron ore export disruptions in Brazil and Australia.Chinese steel production grew by a massive 12.6 million tonnes (+9.2%) in the first two months on 2019 as estimated by China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

Seanergy Maritime in Leaseback, Refinancing Pact with Cargill

The dry bulk cargo shipping company Seanergy Maritime Holdings announced has successfully concluded the refinancing of the 2011-built Capesize M/V Championship through a leasing agreement with Cargill International.The Nasdaq listed shipping company based in Greece informed that the refinancing has released approximately $7.8 million of liquidity for the Company.Pursuant to the agreement, the Company has chartered back the Vessel on a bareboat basis and subsequently entered it into a five-year time charter with Cargill at a rate which is linked to the 5-routes Time Charter average of the Baltic Exchange Capesize Index (BCI).The Charterer will also cover 100% of the equipment and installation cost for retrofitting the Vessel with an exhaust gas cleaning system (a scrubber).Lastly…

Safe Bulkers Acquires Dry-bulk Vessel

Safe Bulkers announced that it has acquired a 181,000 dwt, Japanese, 2009-built, dry-bulk, Capesize class vessel at an attractive price. The acquisition was financed from cash on hand.The international provider of marine dry-bulk transportation services said that following a dry docking the vessel is expected to be employed in the time charter market.As of August 13, 2018, the weighted time charter average of the Baltic Exchange Cape Index (BCI AVG5TC) was $26,059 per day. Seanergy Bags Time Charter for Capesize Bulker

Seanergy Maritime Holdings Corp has entered into a time charter contract (T/C) with a major European charterer, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, for a period of about 18 months to about 22 months. The T/C is for the 180,000 dwt Capesize vessel M/V Lordship and is expected to commence in June 2017, upon expiration of the vessel's current T/C with the same charterer. The net daily charter hire is index-linked rate based on the 5 T/C route rate of Baltic Capesize Index (BCI). In addition, the charter contract provides the option to Seanergy to convert at any time and for a period of minimum three months to maximum 12 months the index-linked rate into a fixed rate corresponding to the prevailing value of the respective Capesize FFA.

Baltic Trading Acquires Two Capesize Vessels

Takes Delivery of the Baltic Lion; Vessel to Commence Spot Market-Related Time Charter. Baltic Trading Limited announced today that it has taken delivery of the Baltic Lion, a 2012-built Capesize vessel. The Baltic Lion is the second of two Capesize vessels to be delivered to the Company under Baltic Trading's agreements previously announced on November 5, 2013. John C. Wobensmith, President and Chief Financial Officer, commented, "We are pleased to take delivery of the Baltic Lion following the successful delivery of its sister ship, the Baltic Tiger, earlier this quarter. Baltic Trading Take Delivery of Capesize, & Charter Out

Baltic Trading Limited has accepted delivery of the first of two new bulk carriers, 'Baltic Tiger', a 179,185 dwt Capesize vessel, and found a time charter for the vessel without delay. The Baltic Tiger delivered to its charterer, Swissmarine Services S.A., has commenced a spot market-related time charter for 10.5 to 13.5 months. The rate for the spot market-related time charter, which is subject to the completion of definitive documentation, is based on 102.75% of the average of the daily rates of the Baltic Capesize Index (BCI) published by the Baltic Exchange, as reflected in daily reports.

Navios Maritime Takes Delivery of Capesize Newbuild

Navios Maritime Holdings Inc. (NYSE: NM), a global, vertically integrated seaborne shipping and logistics company, announced that the Capesize vessel Navios Buena Ventura of 179,109 dwt was delivered from a South Korean shipyard to Navios Holdings' owned fleet on October 29, 2010. The vessel is chartered-out for ten years at a net rate of $29,356 per day with 50/50 profit sharing above a BCI Time Charter Average of $38,500.

Baltic Trading Takes Delivery of Drybulk Vessels

Baltic Trading Limited (NYSE: BALT), a drybulk company focused on the spot market, has taken delivery of the Baltic Bear, a Capesize newbuilding, and the Baltic Jaguar, a 2009-built Supramax vessel. The Baltic Bear and the Baltic Jaguar are the third and fourth vessels, respectively, to be delivered to the company under agreements signed in February 2010 to acquire four 2009-built Supramax drybulk vessels from an unaffiliated third party as well as two Capesize newbuildings from another unaffiliated third party. The Baltic Bear was delivered to its charterer, Cargill International S.A., on May 16, 2010 to commence a spot market-related time charter for 11 to 13.5 months.

Excel Maritime Q1 Results

Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (NYSE: EXM), an owner and operator of dry bulk carriers and an international provider of worldwide seaborne transportation services for dry bulk cargoes, announced its operating and financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010. A reconciliation of the non-GAAP measures discussed above is included in a subsequent section of this release. Pavlos Kanellopoulos, Chief Financial Officer of Excel, stated, “We are pleased to report yet another profitable quarter with increased cash flow generation. Excel Maritime 1Q Results

Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (NYSE: EXM), an owner and operator of dry bulk carriers and a provider of worldwide seaborne transportation services for dry bulk cargoes, announced its operating and financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009. •    Net income was $118.0 million or $2.57 per weighted average diluted share compared to $35.1 million or $1.76 per weighted average diluted share in the first quarter of 2008, an increase of approximately 236.2%. The results for the first quarter of 2009 include a non-cash item of $6.7 million relating to the unrealized gain from the valuation of interest rate swaps and $0.1 million gain on sale of a vessel.

Star Bulk New Time Charters, Vessel Mngmt

Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (NasdaqGM: SBLK), a global shipping company focusing on the transportation of dry bulk cargoes announced that the company entered into a new one-year time charter agreement for the Star Theta, a 52,425 dwt 2003-built Supramax vessel, at a gross daily rate of $11,300. On May 18, 2009 the vessel was delivered to its new charterer, Cargill. The company also entered into a new time charter agreement with the existing charterer for the Star Kappa, a 52,055 dwt 2001-built Supramax vessel, for a minimum of 63 months and a maximum of 65 months at a gross daily charterhire rate of $25,500. The new time charter agreement is effective as of April 7, 2009 and replaces the existing charter.

Grain Trading Is Quiet

Grain fixing for Iran continued to hold interest in an otherwise quiet sector, brokers said on Monday. IRISL fixed unnamed tonnage to lift 50,000 tons wheat from St. Lawrence for Iran at $21 with shipment set for December 1/20. This compared with the $21.25 that they paid for 60,000 tons wheat on the same route on November 17 and $20.50-22.00 for two other cargoes of 60,000 tons each on November 16. Tradigrain booked 55,000 tons wheat to Iran but from Kalundborg November 25/30 shipment at $18.25. Cargill was seen fixing cargoes in the grain sector, with 60,000 tons and 55,000 tons heavy grain booked from the U.S. Gulf to Seaforth, England, and Barcelona respectively. Both were concluded at $13.50 and with shipment set for November.
