U.S. 6th Fleet Exercises Ordnance Loading Capability in Rota

U.S. 6th Fleet, in coordination with USS California (SSN 781), Navy Munitions Command Rota, Spain and Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF) New London, conducted an ordnance loading exercise at Naval Station Rota, Spain, Jan. 13, 2017. The expeditionary ordnance loading exercise demonstrated the U.S. Navy’s capability to load ordnance onto naval vessels in non-traditional locations. This exercise demonstrates enhanced capabilities to strengthen naval power at and from the sea to contribute to a more stable, secure and prosperous European region. This is the first in a series of expeditionary weapons loading events planned for the next year in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.

Electric Boat Awarded Submarine Repair Contract Modification

US Department of Defense informs that a $9,048,214 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to the previously awarded contract (N00024-13-C-4308) has been awarded to General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Connecticut. The contract is to incrementally fund previously exercised options to provide non-nuclear submarine repair work on Groton-based submarines under the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative (NEMMI). Under the terms of the contract, Electric Boat Corp., will provide NEMMI tasks in support of non-nuclear maintenance, modernization and repair of operational nuclear powered submarines, floating dry docks, support and service craft, and plant equipment assigned to the Naval Submarine Support Facility New London.

Amongst the latest listing of US Department of Defense, Navy contracts, GD Electric Boat is awarded a contract to provide submarine repairs. General Dynamics, Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is awarded an $11,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to the previously awarded contract (N00024-13-C-4308) to incrementally fund previously exercised options to provide non-nuclear submarine repair work on Groton-based submarines under the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative (NEMMI).

The City of Indianapolis and the Indiana SeaPerch regions were the ideal combination to host the Third National SeaPerch Challenge at the Natatorium on the campus of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on May 17 – 19, 2013. On Friday evening, May 17, 83 top robotic teams from middle and high schools, after school and out-of-school programs in 23 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico convened at the IUPUI Natatorium for a weekend of competition and fun-filled activities.

General Dynamics $73M Contract to Support Naval Sub Base

General Dynamics Electric Boat has been awarded two contract modifications by the U.S. Navy to provide a range of services in support of nuclear submarines and related facilities and equipment at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. The modifications are worth a combined $72.6m. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Under the terms of a $45.6m modification, Electric Boat will continue to perform non-nuclear submarine modernization and repair services at the Naval Submarine Support Facility in support of submarines, the Shippingport floating dry-dock as well as support and service craft. About 270 Electric Boat employees are engaged in the work.

New Navy Contracts

Austal USA, Mobile, Ala., is being awarded a $204,652,897 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-08-C-2217) for the exercise of construction options for ships four and five of the Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV) program. The JHSV will provide high speed, shallow draft transportation capability to support the intra-theater maneuver of personnel, supplies and equipment for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Army. Work will be performed in Mobile, Ala., and is expected to be completed by December 2013. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

General Dynamics Submarine Support Work

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat $61.8m to extend two existing contracts for submarine modernization and maintenance and reactor-plant planning yard work. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Under a $43.7m modification, Electric Boat will continue to perform non-nuclear submarine modernization and repair services at the Naval Submarine Support Facility in Groton in support of submarines, the Shippingport floating dry-dock as well as support and service craft. This is a modification to a five-year contract initially awarded in October 2006 that has a total potential value of $201.8m if all options are exercised and funded. About 270 Electric Boat employees are engaged in the work.

New Navy Contracts

BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems, Nashua, N.H., is being awarded a $33,676,912 modification to a previously awarded firm fixed price contract (N00019-08-C-0044) for the Low Rate Initial Production Lot V of the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) AN/ALE-55(V) Subsystems and associated technical support and non-recurring engineering for the U.S. Navy and Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18E/F aircraft. The AN/ALE-55(V) subsystem consists of an electronic frequency converter (EFC) and a fiber optic towed decoy (FOTD). This modification provides for a total of 70 EFCs for the U.S. Navy, (58) and the Royal Austra lian Air Force, (12); and 323 FOTDs for the U.S. Navy, (251) and the Royal Australian Air Force, (72).

GD Awarded $61M Contract

Electric Boat, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract worth up to $61.1 million to maintain and operate the Shippingport drydock at the Naval Submarine Base New London. The contract covers an initial period of one year, with options for four additional years. Management, operation and preventative maintenance of the Shippingport will be provided on a cost-plus-fixed-fee basis and is worth up to $34.6 million over the next five years, with $2.2 million of the total funded in the current fiscal year. The drydocking services associated with this contract will be paid on a firm-fixed-price basis and will be worth up to $26.4 million during the life of the contract.

General Dynamics, Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $37,291,802 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract for non-nuclear maintenance and repair support at the Naval Submarine Support Facility, Naval Submarine Base, New London, Conn. The contract will provide services required to support planned and emergent non-nuclear maintenance and repair for operational nuclear submarines, floating dry-docks, support & service craft and other platforms and equipment. Work will be performed in New London, Conn., and is expected to be completed by September 2008. Contract funds in the amount of $37.29m will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Electric Boat, Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $10,991,000 modification (P00038) to previously awarded contract (N00140-02-C-K009) for intermediate and depot level overhaul, repair and modernization services for Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, Groton, Conn. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn., and work is expected to be completed by August 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Philadelphia Division, is the contracting activity.
