AET Wins $245Mln Charter Deal with Shell

Petroleum and chemical tanker owner AET Tanker Holdings has been awarded three long-term time charter contracts by Brazil Shipping I Limited, a Shell group entity.The subsidiary of Malaysia’s maritime solutions and services provider MISC Berhad said in a press release that Under the terms of the deal it will own and operate the related newbuilding Suezmax Class Dynamic Positioning (DP) shuttle tankers for operations in international and Brazilian waters.The estimated contract value is USD 245 million and the charter is expected to commence in 2022.These long-term time charter contracts will further reinforce AETs position as one of the…

AET Names its First LNG-Fueled Aframax Pair

Petroleum and chemical tanker owner and operator  AET Tankers has named and welcomed its first LNG dual-fuelled aframax vessels, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu.According to a press release of the Singapore-based company, the ceremony for the vessels was held at the Samsung Heavy Industry Co Ltd’s (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea. Both vessels have been taken on long-term charterby Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (Shell), primarily for operations in the Atlantic Basin, and will begin operating for the company from Q4 2018.Using LNG as a fuel eliminates sulphur (SOx) emissions by nearly 100 percent, nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions by 85 percent and particulate matter (PM) emissions by 98 percent…

Sound Energy Reports Progress On Moroccan, Italian Licences

Sound Energy, the European/Mediterranean focused upstream gas company, is pleased to provide the following update on its Moroccan and Italian gas portfolio. Further to the recently announced signatures with Schlumberger of both the strategic partnership across Europe and Africa and the Field Management Agreement specifically on Tendrara, the Company has now signed a Letter of Intent with Entrepose Drilling Morocco for the supply of a HH300 rig for the first two wells on the licence (which are expected to be back to back). The Company, post the recently announced transaction with Schlumberger, will retain operatorship and a 27.5% effective net working interest with a 20% effective net paying interest for the first well (increasing to 25% for the second and third wells).

Obama Defends Arctic Oil Drilling

United States' President Barack Obama defends his decision to allow Royal Dutch Shell to drill for oil in the Arctic Ocean. He insisted that there was no contradiction between his climate change agenda and Arctic drilling. “I share people's concerns about offshore drilling,” Obama said, while emphasizing that Shell bought its exploration leases before he took office. His televised message did not stop several environmentalist organizations from criticizing the contradictions in his words and policies. Obama said the bottom line is that “safety has been and will continue to be my administration’s top priority when it comes to oil and gas exploration off America’s precious coasts – even as we push our economy and the world to ultimately transition off of fossil fuels”.

EnQuest Appoints Holland as Non-Ex Director

EnQuest PLC has appointed Phil Holland as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 August 2015. Phil has very significant international project management experience in the energy sector, in particular in oil & gas. He held a number of senior positions at the Shell Group, including that of Executive Vice President, Shell Projects and Technology. Prior to Shell, Phil led the management of large scale Oil & Gas projects in a range of international locations for the Bechtel Corporation. Sovcomflot Concludes $319 mi 10-year Loan

OAO Sovcomflot (SCF Group) signed a new USD 319 million 10 year credit facility with a consortium of leading European banks with ING acting as Agent. The funds will be used towards financing two new ice-class LNG carriers SCF Melampus and SCF Mitre, which will operate on long-term contracts with the Shell Group. The new high-spec Atlanticmax Ice2 (1C) class gas carriers feature a tri-fuel engine, a cargo capacity of 170,000m³ and are equipped for operating in harsh and low temperature conditions. The vessels’ design is optimised to provide the utmost trading flexibility to their charterers, as they are able to transport LNG year round to and from most of the world’s existing LNG terminals.

Shell & Hyundai Open S. Korea Base Oil Plant

A joint venture company formed by Shell and Hyundai Oilbank, has inaugurated a new base oil manufacturing plant in Daesan, South Korea. The plant has the capacity to produce approximately 13,000 barrels per day or 650 kilotonnes of API Group II base oils per year. (Base oils are the key component of finished lubricants, making up on average of 60-80% of the end product). Mark Gainsborough, Executive Vice President for Shell Lubricants, said: “As the demand for higher quality lubricants is on the rise in Asia, the region is shifting away from Group I base oils towards increased use of Group II and Group III base oils. The plant was built to capture the growing demand for Group II base oils in Asia.

Shell Donates Toward Philippine Typhoon Re-building Program

Royal Dutch Shell plc is donating US$2.5 million, in response to the catastrophic typhoon Haiyan that struck the Philippines. The donation from the Shell Group will be used for rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts in the areas badly hit by typhoon Haiyan, as a way of providing long-term assistance for the affected communities. Swift Receives IMO Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Peter Swift has been presented, by the Secretary General of the IMO, Efthimios Mitropoulos, with a special Tanker Shipping & Trade Lifetime Achievement Award. Appointed in February 2001 as Managing Director of INTERTANKO (The International Association of Independent Tanker Owners), Swift has spent the last ten years representing the interests of more than 250 oil/chemical tanker owners with over 260m dwt of tonnage and a further 320 associate members from the broader shipping industry. Swift is a graduate of King’s College, Durham (UK) where he studied naval architecture.

PDVSA Sees Shell, Mitsubishi LNG JV Deal

PDVSA expects to sign a final JV deal with Royal Dutch/Shell Group and Mitsubishi Corp. to develop the $2.7B Mariscal Sucre LNG project by the end of Nov.2003. PDVSA recently decided to use Shell's gas liquefaction technology in the project.

General Maritime Signs Contract With Shell International

General Maritime Corporation entered into a contract of affreightment (COA) agreement with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO), the principal trading and shipping business of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. The contract gives General Maritime the opportunity to transport STASCO oil cargos for its Aframax and Suezmax fleet in the Western Hemisphere. Peter C. Knightsbridge Tanker Announces Distribution

Knightsbridge Tankers Limited announced that its Board of Directors has declared a cash distribution in the amount of $0.80 per common share. The cash distribution will be payable on or about February 10, 2004, to shareholders of record as of January 27, 2004. The declaration of the cash distribution follows the calculation by Knightsbridge of the payment of charterhire due from Shell International Petroleum Company Limited ("Shell International"), a member of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies, for the period from October 1, 2003 to December 31, 2003. The charterhire payable by Shell International is the greater of a guaranteed minimum rate or a spot market related rate.

Oil Instability, Consolidation Muddy Offshore E&P Picture

The cyclical nature of the oil business has blossomed into full bloom during the latter part of 2000, as a host of political power plays have sent oil prices on a virtual rollercoaster, albeit mostly up, helping to send it soaring as high as $37/barrel at the time of this writing. DUC Natural Gas Production Up 6.9%

Danish Underground Consortium`s (DUC) production of natural gas from its North Sea fields increased 6.9 percent year-on-year in March, operator A.P. Moeller said. In the first quarter, DUC's North Sea natural gas production rose 3.6 percent year-on-year to 2.18 billion cubic meters. DUC is responsible for virtually the entire output from Denmark`s North Sea oil and gas fields. Denmark is the fourth-biggest offshore gas producer in western Europe after Norway, Britain and the Netherlands. A.P. Moeller owns 39 percent of DUC. Its two partners, Royal Dutch Shell Group and Texaco own 46 percent and 15 percent respectively. Danish Underground Consortium`s (DUC) North Sea oil production rose 6.1 percent year-on-year in March, operator A.P.Moeller said.

USCG Sets Safety Zone Around Shell Rigs

The U.S. Coast Guard will establish safety zones around seven of Shell Oil's Gulf of Mexico high-production oil and natural gas platforms, at the company's request, to protect them from being hit by vessels operating outside normal shipping channels. "Placing safety zones around the platforms will significantly reduce the threat of...oil spills and releases of natural gas," the Coast Guard said in a notice published in Thursday's Federal Register. The new regulations, which take effect on May 1, prevent most vessels from coming within 500 m of the platforms. Shell Makes Two Discoveries in Nigeria

Shell Nigeria Ultra Deep Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration Properties Alpha Limited, companies of the Shell Group, announced they have made discoveries in two 'Big Cat prospects'. Further appraisal is required to determine the discoveries' resource potential. The wells, in blocks OPL 322 and OPL 245, were both in frontier areas. Bobo -1X was drilled in block OPL 322, to a total depth of 5,173 m in 2,479 m of water, the second deepest well in offshore Nigeria. Drilling was completed on 16 July 2005, under budget, and found over 140 meters of hydrocarbon bearing sands. Shell Nigeria Exploration Properties Alpha Limited has a 40 per cent shareholding in OPL 322. mEtan -1X was drilled in block OPL 245 to a total depth of 4,574 m in 1,720 m of water.
