Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas Arrives in N.Y. Harbor

A clear, sunny Saturday afternoon of November 10, set the stage for the arrival of the first passenger ship into New York Harbor following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The vessel, Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas, sailed into New York for a two-day tribute cruise for the families of the fallen firemen and police officers who were victim to the devastation at the World Trade Center. Royal Caribbean also plans to donate $50,000 to the Twin Towers Relief Fund. The 142,000-ton Adventure of the Seas - sister ship to Voyager and Explorer of the Seas - was christened at Pier 88 and named by representatives of the New York Police Department and New York Fire Department.

Rudy Giuliani to Appear at Meridian Yachts Launch

Former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani will be present at 1 p.m. today at Chelsea Piers, Pier 59 in New York City, to support the Meridian Yachts launch from Brunswick Corporation. This world premiere event will showcase the Meridian product line - ranging from 34 to 58 ft. (10.3 to 17.6 m) - of sedans and pilothouse motor yachts for 2003.

Giuliani Rolls Out PortStat Program

During the port security conference of the International Airport and Seaport Police last night, Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani announced his intention to implement a new port security law enforcement program based upon the widely praised "CompStat" initiative he launched as mayor of New York City. As with Compstat, the "PortStat" initiative would gather statistics on arrests, complaints, suspicious activities and other intelligence information that would detect criminal, security-breach and terrorist activity trends at airports and seaports around the country. The resulting intelligence data would assist federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in adjusting their security strategies in an ongoing and pro-active basis.

Giuliani to Receive Port Security Award

The U.S. Port Police will present former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani with the inaugural Fred V. Morrone Memorial Award this evening in Washington, D.C. The Morrone Award will be delivered during the 38th annual International Port Security Conference of the International Association of Airport and Seaport Police (IAASP). The award commemorates the service and sacrifice of the men and women who defend our nation's airports and seaports. It is awarded to individuals who have displayed outstanding leadership and contributions in helping to strengthen our nation's airport, seaport, cargo and transportation security.
