Bernhard Schulte Offshore Orders Two Ulstein CSOVs

Germany-based Bernhard Schulte Offshore has awarded Norway's Ulstein Verft a contract for the design and construction of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) of the ULSTEIN SX222 design. The contract includes options for four additional vessels.The vessels, which utilize the TWIN X-STERN design, feature two sterns and main propellers at both fore and aft, which, Bernard Schulte Offshore says, makes them an ideal choice for Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations. Tens of gigawatts of floating wind projects are slated for development in this and the next decade, but many obstacles remain.There has been much focus on the emerging floating wind market of late.The U.K. is forging ahead with commercial scale floating wind developments through the Scotwind and INTOG awards of at least 24 gigawatts (GW) of floating wind capacity representing close to 1,500 floating turbines that will come on stream through 2030. World First: Keppel Delivers EU Stage-V Dredger

Keppel Singmarine’s Nantong, China, shipyard has delivered the world’s first dredger to meet European Union Stage V emissions requirements for inland waterways vessels.The wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) said in a press release that has delivered the ultra low emission dredger on time, within budget and with a perfect safety record, strengthening its presence in the non-oil and gas segment.Built for Jan De Nul and named Afonso de Albuquerque, the ultra-low emission Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) is diesel-electrical powered and comes equipped with an efficient exhaust gas filter system. The resultant emission complies with the requirements of the EU Stage V standards, which set stricter limits on emissions.

Pacific Radiance, Allianz JV in Middle East

Crest Offshore Marine (COM), the wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Radiance, has entered into a Joint Venture (JV) Agreement  with Allianz Offshore Middle East (AOME). According to JV agreement, both companies are jointly incorporating a company in Singapore known as Allianz Radiance (ARPL). ARPL has been incorporated on the same date. AOME is a company incorporated in Saint Vincent and The Grenadines. Under the terms of the JV Agreement, COM and AOME respectively will hold 51% and 49% equity interest in ARPL, making ARPL as indirect subsidiary of the Company. ARPL shall be principally engaged in owning, managing, chartering and leasing offshore support vessels particularly in the Gulf Cooperation Council and Egypt offshore oil and gas segment.

Dedicated ship design office HEAVYLIFT@SEA has partnered with service provider to the offshore industry SeaRenergy to produce a new vessel design that is poised to benefit from best practice from both worlds: ship design and offshore experience. According to the designers, the new 72-meter vessel targets both efficiency and comfort, developed with a focus on minimizing losses during operation but still with a cost efficient propulsion arrangement (ERN 99,99,99,95) with low fuel consumption and maintenance cost.

What is your background? I became part of the Milaha family when I joined Halul Offshore in February 2014 as CEO. I am a second generation Marine Engineer. After sailing as a C/E I took my first shore job as Technical superintendent in Hong Kong for more than two years. Subsequently, I got my Masters in Business Administration from UK.

Market Improving for German Equipment Suppliers

The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) reported a good order situation for German marine and offshore oil and gas equipment suppliers, but the upsurge in incoming orders is not making the sector euphoric. “The boom in world ship newbuilding orders in 2013 gave us strong order growth, particularly from China and Korea. Here our ongoing export commitment in the global market is paying off: Germany remains the leading country for marine equipment suppliers worldwide. At the same time, we registered above average growth in incoming orders in the offshore oil and gas area,” stated Dr. Alexander Nürnberg, Chairman of VDMA Marine and Offshore Equipment Industries, at the association’s press conference held in Hamburg on Wednesday.

GlobalSantaFe Reports 2004 Results

Worldwide oil and gas drilling contractor GlobalSantaFe Corporation (NYSE: GSF) today reported a net loss for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, of $7.6 million, or $0.03 per diluted share, on revenues of $498.3 million. The 2004 fourth quarter included a primarily non-cash tax charge of $42.5 million, or $0.18 per diluted share, related to a realignment of the company's subsidiary structure. Excluding this charge, the company had income of $34.9 million, or $0.15 per diluted share for the fourth quarter of 2004. For the year ended December 31, 2004, the company reported net income of $143.7 million, or $0.61 per diluted share, on revenues of $1.7 billion.
