Crowley and Puerto Rico Teamsters Agree on Contract

San Juan, Puerto Rico - Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group and Puerto Rico Teamsters Union Local 901 have reached an agreement on a new five-year labor contract covering union employees working at Crowley’s San Juan terminal. The new contract is effective from March 27, 2012, through March 26, 2017. “This new agreement continues Crowley’s commitment to the trade and our long-term desire to grow and reinvest in the services we provide to our customers in Puerto Rico and the U.S.,” said John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager, Puerto Rico and Caribbean services. Crowley has operated in Puerto Rico since 1954. During that time, it has developed a strong and lasting relationship with the Puerto Rico community and its union team members.

Crowley Acquires 500 New 40' Containers

Brings Company Investment in New Equipment for 2011 to more than $23 Million. Crowley Maritime Corporation's liner services group is continuing to grow and update its equipment fleet to better serve customers with the addition of 500 new 40-foot, high-cube containers. The acquisition adds to the company's already robust equipment fleet of more than 45,000 units, as well as phases out some older containers. The new containers, which have a capacity of 2,700 cubic feet, will be used in all liner service operations in Latin America, the Caribbean and Puerto Rico.

Crowley Acquires 400 Additional 53' Containers

Increases Company Equipment Fleet to More than 45,000 Units. Crowley Christens ATB Tank Vessel in Tampa

On March 26, Crowley Maritime Corporation christened the eighth of 10 new 185,000-barrel Articulated Tug-Barge (ATB) tank vessels that the company will take delivery of by 2011. The vessels christened were the tug Achievement and barge 650-8. Sure to be no stranger to the Tampa waterfront, the vessel is scheduled to visit the port once a week as it carries petroleum products for Marathon Oil Corporation. Crowley Maritime Corporation announced a restructuring involving three members of its senior leadership team. John Douglass and Rob Grune will move to new positions, with Douglass taking over as senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's Puerto Rico/Caribbean liner services, and Grune taking over as senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's petroleum transportation group. Crowley to Expand Barge Fleet

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s Vessel Management Services subsidiary has awarded construction contracts to Gunderson Marine of for – in addition to two already under construction – eight Heavy Lift Series 400 x 105-ft.-wide deck barges. Once completed, these barges will handle project work for the offshore energy industry in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere and will expand ’s fleet of this type barge to as many as 13 by 2012. Gunderson is the same company that built the first three barges in the series – the Marty J, 455-2 and 455-3 (now the Julie B) – all of which were delivered last year. Under construction are barges 455-4 and 455-5, which are scheduled for delivery in the first and second quarters respectively.

Crowley Promotes John Ara

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that John Ara has been promoted to vice president with responsibility for the company's Atlantic/Gulf Coast commercial and marine operations business. general manager. Ara, who most recently held the position of director, marine operations, will now have commercial responsibility for contract services as well as Gulf Coast marine operations. Ara is a 30-year Crowley veteran who began his career working as a dispatcher in San Pedro, Calif. He has held positions of increasing responsibility and high visibility throughout his career with Crowley, including time spent in San Juan, Puerto Ricoas sales manager and in recent years he has had a large role in the company's Sakhalin Island and Angola sealift projects.

Klenck Appointed as Crowley’s Vice President of Pricing and Yield Management

Joel Klenck has been promoted to vice president, pricing and yield management with overall pricing responsibilities for Crowley Liner Services’ Puerto Rico/Caribbean Group. Based in Jacksonville, Fla., Klenck will report to John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager. Klenck joined Crowley as a marketing analyst in February 1999. He was later promoted to manager, yield management, and then to manager of Puerto Rico pricing. Klenck served most recently as director, pricing and yield management, for the Puerto Rico and Caribbean service. The pricing and yield management department focuses on expanding Crowley’s revenue base, analyzing cost variables, and reducing company expenses.

Shettig Promoted to VP at Crowley

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that Jim Shettig has been promoted to vice president of the company's East Coast and Gulf contract services business. He will remain domiciled in Houston and continue to report to John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's marine services group. Shettig, who most recently served as general manager of East Coast and Gulf contract services, will now have profit and loss responsibilities for the business. His group provides a myriad of services to customers, including energy logistics, remote offshore drilling support, ocean towing and transportation and other energy support services. Shettig is an 18-year Crowley veteran.

Harland Promoted to VP at Crowley

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that Bruce Harland has been promoted to vice president of the company's West Coast, Alaska and international contract services. He will remain in Seattle and continue to report to John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's marine services group. Harland, who most recently served as general manager of West Coast, Alaska and international contract services, will now have profit and loss responsibilities for the business as part of the upgrade in the position. Klenck Named VP at Crowley

Crowley announced that Joel Klenck has been promoted to vice president, ship assist and escort services, a part of Crowley's marine services segment, with overall responsibility for managing the company's growing tug services business from Southern California to Alaska. In his new position, Klenck will relocate from Jacksonville to Seattle and will report to John Douglass, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's marine services segment. Klenck began his career with Crowley as a marketing analyst for the company's Puerto Rico and Caribbean liner services group in February 1999. MARAD to Recognize Crowley and North Florida Shipyards for $18M Conversion

Crowley Liner Services and North Florida Shipyards will be recognized on December 20 in Jacksonville by U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) officials for their contributions in the successful completion of the $18 million conversion of the Ready Reserve Force ship MV Cape Washington. 12:30 p.m. Crowley and North Florida Shipyards. Vessel’s Support Illustrates Importance

The military value of a strong and diverse fleet of U.S.-flag commercial vessels was dramatically illustrated this month when the Military Sealift Command requested that the Jones Act trailership S.S. NORTHERN LIGHTS load military hardware in San Diego for delivery to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The vessel’s owner, Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Inc., immediately made the NORTHERN LIGHTS available to the military and within days, the ship was being loaded with cargo needed by troops stationed overseas.
