Newport Shipping Buys 100 Scrubbers

Two LNG Tankers' Mooring Systems Modified

Harris Pye, a Joulon company, has completed fast turnaround modification to the mooring systems for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers while at anchor off the coast of Africa. Both modifications involved a tight schedule and were undertaken in order for the tankers to be able to call at key Indian LNG terminals.In each instance the scope of work was to supply a complete turnkey for the installation of additional spring line on the aft port side of each vessel.The modifications consisted of installation of two new pedestal roller fairleads in way of the cross-deck passageway…

Harris Pye Sold to Joulon Group

The Harris Pye Engineering Group, global specialists in the provision of repairs, upgrades and conversions to the marine, offshore oil and gas, and associated onshore industrial sectors, has been acquired by the Joulon Group. Joulon was created in partnership with KKR, the global investment firm to acquire well established companies globally. The investment in Joulon comes from multiple funds managed or advised by KKR. Harris Pye has been acquired to primarily add capability in the Project Management Platform for the Joulon Group and will also have an impact in the majority of the Joulon platforms. “We are really excited to have Harris Pye as part of Joulon Group. “This is very much a win:win situation,” explained Mark Prendergast, Harris Pye’s Chief Executive.

Harris Pye to Refurbish Kishorn Port Dry Dock Gates

Harris Pye begins work today on refurbishing the historic dock gates at Kishorn Port, last opened nearly 25 years ago. This will be the first step in making them, and the Kishorn dry-dock, operational once more. The contract value is £340,000 and the work will be undertaken in a six week period. The hollow concrete gates were last opened nearly 25 years ago when the Skye Bridge caissons were constructed there in 1993. The dock was also where the Ninian Central production platform, one of the largest concrete structures ever to have moved across the face of the earth, was constructed in the late 1970s. “We are delighted to have won this contract, and to be working on these historic gates,” explains Chris David, Harris Pye’s Chief Technical Officer.

Harris Pye Chalks Up LSDO Conversions

The Harris Pye Engineering Group has been awarded a contract by a Chinese LNG company to convert six of its vessels to low sulphur diesel oil (LSDO), with an option for conversions on further vessels to follow. Ocean Endeavor Repair Completed

Harris Pye Engineering Group completed repair works during the two-stage multi-million dollar Diamond Offshore demobilization project for its semi-sub rig Ocean Endeavor from the Black Sea, which completed its contract in January 2016. The initial phase of the repair work, which started in December 2015, while the rig was offshore Constanta, Romania involved cleaning of mud, brine, base oil and skimmer tanks. Harris Pye Announces New Scrubber Installations

The Harris Pye Engineering Group is currently engaged in turnkey scrubber installation packages for major cruise line companies. On August 3, 2016 Harris Pye completed the installation of an Advanced Emission Purification System, fully automated, which was duly DNV GL certified which met with MARPOL regulation 14 of Annex V1 for the control of emissions complying to regulations 14.1 or 14.4. The design package for open and closed loop systems was utilized to model and fabricate all piping systems, hardware integration, and major/minor steelworks. Along with new exhaust tail pipes, sea chests were installed with the vessel in service along with the associated overboard discharges.

Harris Pye to the Rescue for Damaged Hull Repair

Timing is all-important when repairs to a busy drillship are the order of the day. When Pacific International Drilling West Africa’s (PIDWAL) drillship Pacific Bora suffered damage to the starboard aft hull off the coast of Nigeria, PIDWAL called for assistance from the Harris Pye Engineering Group. The repair was successfully evaluated; all necessary specialists and labor, steel, tools and equipment were mobilized; and the repair was made, installed, painted and tested in less than two weeks of the Harris Pye team boarding the Pacific Bora (“PBA”).

Ballast Water Treatment – CAD Survey Aids BWT System installation

Maritime and offshore oil & gas engineering company Harris Pye announce that it has successfully used its 360 degree3D scanner to survey the engine room of Neva River (ex Celestine River), an LNG carrier. The project involved taking a full 3D scan of the engine room in order to ascertain the best system for a ballast water treatment installation. The scan enables Harris Pye engineers to rapidly create three-dimensional images of the entire engine room, and thus create various ballast water treatment models in order to select the best for a client. The entire engine room survey took less than 5 hours, causing minimal disturbance to the crew.

Swansea Dry Docks Open for Business

Harris PYE Assists in Saga Pearl II Refit

Saga's newly acquired cruise ship, currently called the Astoria and to be transformed into Saga Pearl II, the latest addition to their fleet, is to undergo her refit and total refurbishment in Swansea Dry Docks, Wales. The Harris Pye Group, based in Barry in Wales, has won two major contracts connected to the work on the vessel being undertaken over the course of the next five months.
