MacGregor's Hatlapa Brand is 95 Today

November 2014 marks the 95th anniversary of MacGregor's Hatlapa brand. Since its foundation in 1919 by German engineer Max Hatlapa, the formerly independent Uetersen-based company has strived for engineering excellence. Last year, in recognition of these qualities and the benefits that Hatlapa offers, MacGregor purchased the company to complement its offering to the merchant shipping and offshore customers. "Over the years, Hatlapa has won a worldwide reputation for quality German-engineered products," says Alexander Nürnberg, who was previously Managing Partner of Hatlapa Uetersener Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG and today heads the new Auxiliary and Machinery Systems Division at MacGregor.

HATLAPA and LOEWE MARINE Establish Premium Partnership

New partnership to offer cost-effective repair and maintenance services for all makes and models of steering gear and rudder systems worldwide. HATLAPA Uetersener Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG and LOEWE MARINE GmbH & Co. KG will be collaborating closely in the area of steering gear and rudder system maintenance and repairs. The new partnership was announced at the SMM tradeshow in Hamburg in September. The two companies expressed confidence that the resulting synergies will offer an increased benefit to their existing customers and create new business opportunities.

HATLAPA Takes Over KGW Business Unit

As of April 1, 2006 the managing partners of HATLAPA Uetersener Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG (HATLAPA) took over the former business division “ship technology and cargo handling” of KGW Schweriner Maschinenbau GmbH (KGW) and integrated this into a newly founded company KGW Marine GmbH, located in Schwerin. Close to 20 KGW people, covering sales, design and development department as well as service and commissioning personnel, are going to stay with the new company, keeping responsibility for the existing orders. In doing so, the long-term future of the ship division’s product range of KGW is ensured. Within the last almost 15 years KGW Schweriner Maschinenbau GmbH has become one of the leading suppliers of wind mill towers.
