NAPA Expands Design Tool to Streamline Class Approval

Maritime software house NAPA released a new application to extend the NAPA Statutory Compliance solution with NAPA Release 2015.1. Once available only to ClassNK customers using ClassNK Manager, this new application integrates ClassNK Manager’s expanded functionality into the NAPA Statutory Compliance tool. Evergreen Line has commenced installation of ClassNK-NAPA GREEN software on chartered container vessels. At the conclusion of a competitive tender process, ClassNK-NAPA GREEN software - developed by NAPA, global maritime software house and classification society ClassNK - was chosen to provide a total solution for planning, monitoring and optimizing ship operations. Enabling greater understanding of the operation of its chartered fleet to improve efficiency is the key driver behind the adoption of ClassNK-NAPA GREEN, the developer said.

Classification society ClassNK agreed to acquire maritime software house NAPA in a deal that the classification society said aims to improve safety and performance for the whole maritime industry. According to ClassNK, the acquisition will enhance the success and capabilities of both organizations. For ClassNK, which has worked with NAPA for nearly 10 years, the deal is a chance to expand and improve the wide range of services it offers to shipowners and shipyards, whilst also providing NAPA with the support to accelerate expansion of existing operations and access new markets.

CEACT Allows Operators to REACT

How updated electronic navigation practices improve safety and efficiency – and optimize cargo movement – on US inland waterways. It was a cold winter night. BMT Defense Applies NAPA Software in New Vessel Design

Naval design and engineering company BMT Defense Services Ltd. included a software package created by maritime software house NAPA during the design process for the new logistics and support vessel (LSV) ordered by the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO). Naval architects have applied NAPA for Design to the vessel's stability and hydrodynamics modeling to produce a compartmentation model that can provide hull form throughout the design process to production. The model will support the lifetime eco-efficiency of the vessel, either in combination with NAPA for Operations systems and the NAPA Loading Computer, or as a standalone system that provides vital information on the vessel when it cannot be observed.

RS Reaches Several Agreements at Neva

During the maritime Neva exhibition, taking place this week in St Petersburg, Russia, a number of agreements were signed promoting use of advanced IT solutions and enhancement of professional training within the maritime industry. Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Sea and River Fleet, classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), Petrobalt Design Office and the Dutch company Numeriek Centrum Groningen (NCG) signed a quadripartite agreement on the establishment of NUPAS-CADMATIC Training and Innovation Center. RS, NAPA Strengthen Cooperation

PT Logindo Vessels Get Tero Software

Norwegian maritime software house Tero Marine has won a contract with Indonesian offshore company PT Logindo to implement software on several of its vessels. The contract covers software implementation on three ships but with the possibility of being extended to include the Indonesian company’s entire fleet of 35 vessels. Tero Marine hopes the contract can help open several doors in the region. “Logindo is a fast growing company, and one of the biggest in offshore shipping in the region. Over a relatively short period of time, they have expanded their fleet with a large number of vessels and are an exciting company for us to work with,” explained Satish Kanakasabai, Technical Manager at the Tero Marine office in Singapore.

Finland's Bore to Install ClassNK Efficiency Software

Shipping company Bore Ltd. to install ClassNK-NAPA GREEN ship efficiency software aboard their 13,625 dwt Ro-Ro vessel 'M/V Bore Song'. Tero Marine Acquires Close Competitor

Norwegian maritime software house Tero Marine AS has taken a controlling stake in rival company Teomaki AS. Norwegian maritime software house Tero Marine has acquired 95 percent of the shares in one of its closest competitors, Teomaki. Both companies develop IT control and management systems for offshore and maritime companies. RINA and IB Partner for Ship Management Software Suite

International classification society RINA Group has partnered with Italian software house IB to distribute a software suite aimed at improving ship and fleet operation across the board. Noon Fuel Reports Don't Cut It Says NAPA

NAPA asserts that traditional noon reports don’t give the quantity or quality of data needed by owners in modern shipping. Software house NAPA Group contracted to supply Bourbon with loading computers for 55 offshore support vessels (OSV's). The latest software will enable Bourbon to improve safe loading and unloading with maximum cargo intake while improving assistance to stability, longitudinal strength for operational efficiency. Survey Shows Some Unaware of SEEMP Fuel Saving Potential

A NAPA Group survey shows SEEMP acknowledged as an industry priority, but knowledge gaps exist, smaller owners & operators lag behind. Software house for ship design and operations, NAPA Group, finds that a majority of respondents were unaware of scope of potential fuel savings the plan could trigger. The survey completed by over fifty ship owners, operators and charterers, revealed that the industry is taking responsibility for SEEMP compliance seriously and is optimistic about its benefits. However, the focus for most respondents was to ensure compliance and maintaining a business-as-usual approach, rather than implementing a SEEMP with significant potential fuel savings.

HDW purchases Topgallant

As part of the implementation of SAP R/3 at the Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft in Kiel, Germany, Atlantec Enterprise Solutions has been chosen to develop the link from the Tribon Hull shipbuilding software to R/3. The link is to be developed in close cooperation with HDW’s own software house, NIS Norddeutsche Informations-Systeme GmbH. Using information extracted from Tribon, the Topgallant software supplied by Atlantec Enterprise Solutions will prepare data for the ERP system. The Topgallant solution to be provided will support both the initial transfer of data shortly before the burning start of each block, as well as any subsequent changes to that block during production.

Her Excellency Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland, has presented the 2008 Internationalization Awards to Napa Group, Avant Tecno Oy and Sunit Oy. The Feb. 19 ceremony was the 41nd in the history of the award. The objective of the Internationalization Awards, which are coordinated by Finpro, is to help businesses to operate in an international environment and to boost their ability to develop and adopt new operating models.
