Report: Reliance Industries' New FPSO in Collision Incident Off India

India-based Reliance Industries' recently delivered FPSO Ruby on Sunday collided ‘lightly’ with an accommodation barge offshore the east coast of India, India’s Economic Times reported on the same day.The news website cited a Reliance spokesperson who said that the incident happened when a gangway from the accommodation barge got lifted and hit a staircase on the FPSO. Nobody was injured during the incident and both vessels sustained 'minor' damage. According to the RIL spokesperson, as reported by Economic Times, the project timeline is not affected.

Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels are essential tools in the search for oil  in deeper waters, further from shore-based facilities. Typically, the large FPSO is stationary with a number of wells feeding oil into its holds. The oil can then be pumped off to shuttle tankers that transport it to shore side tanks and refineries.FPSOs are big expensive pieces of equipment. Some of them are converted from ocean going oil tankers. Such is the case with the 333 by 60-meter, very large crude carrier, VLCC Ariake, which was purchased for conversion to an FPSO.

Solstad on a Roll: Scores Vessel Charters in India, Australia

Just hours after announcing three contracts for its platform suppliers in the North Sea and Suriname, Norwegian offshore vessel operator Solstad Offshore released a separate statement on Thursday, announcing charters for three construction vessels.These charters are with an unnamed "large international contractor" and are for the construction support vessels Normand Navigator, Normand Frontier, and Normand Australis.The three vessels will be used for projects on the east coast of India.

The first of five new general cargo vessels on order for Unichart Navigation Limited has been launched by the Delta Shipyard in Chattogram, Bangladesh.M.V. VOS Champion Starts New Charter

Vroon Offshore Services reports its Singapore-managed anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS ) vessel VOS Champion has started a five-month contract with a major international oil and gas engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor. The firm period of the current contract will last until March 2020.VOS Champion, which had been under charter to Chevron earlier this year, was delivered to her new charterers in early November and immediately mobilized to Sandakan, Malaysia.

Indian Charters for CSV Southern Ocean

The construction support vessel (CSV) Southern Ocean, owned by a joint venture between Bourbon Offshore Norway and Oceanteam, has bagged two charters from an undisclosed client on offshore projects located off the East Coast of India.The scope of the contract is a partial continuation of the scope that was initiated in 2018.Works on the first short term contract have commenced this month whereas the second, longer term contract is expected to commence in December 2019 and works are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020 with optional extension to take the contract well into 2020.Mathieu Feisthauer, Fleet and Chartering Manager of Oceanteam…

NOV to Supply STP System

National Oilwell Varco, a provider of equipment and components used in oil and gas drilling and production, announced new contract award for submerged turret production (STP) system.APL, part of NOV's Completion & Production Solutions segment, has been awarded the supply of another large STP system, said a press release from NOV.This follows a recent  contract award from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. for Reliance Industries' FPSO on the MJ field.This time, the system will be provided to a joint venture between Shapoorji Palloonji Oil and Gas and Bumi Armada Berhad. India's Ennore Terminal Gets Qatari LNG

Qatargas, the world’s largest LNG producer, supplied a commissioning cargo for India’s Ennore LNG receiving terminal, near the southern Indian city of Chennai.The commissioning LNG cargo was delivered onboard the vessel ‘Golar Snow’ on 25th February 2019 by the Swiss commodity trader, Gunvor, to the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), which owns and operates the five million tonnes per annum (MTPA) terminal. Qatargas sold the cargo Free On Board (FOB) basis to Gunvor.Ennore will be India’s fifth operational LNG terminal and the first LNG terminal on the East Coast of India. Indian Navy Inducts Deep Submarine Rescue Capabilities

The Indian Navy has inducted a Submarine Rescue System with a Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV) along with associated equipment.According to a government press release, this system has a side scan sonar for locating the position of the submarine in distress at sea, providing immediate relief by way of posting Emergency Life Support Containers with the help of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and thereafter rescuing the crew of the submarine using the DSRV itself.In a submarine accident, rapidity of response is most crucial to safety of life. Total, India's Adani Join Hands in LNG Sector

French energy major Total and Adani Group have signed an agreement to jointly develop multi energy offers to the Indian energy market. This cooperation includes Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Fuel Retail.The Adani Group is an Indian private conglomerate active in 50 countries and specialized in commodities trading, port infrastructures and logistics, as well as energy production and distribution.This strategic partnership between Total and Adani Group will allow to create a major footprint in LNG business and a new retail network of 1,500 service-stations.Total, the world’s second largest LNG private player, and Adani, the largest infrastructure conglomerate in India, will serve the fast growing gas demand of the Indian market.

CEMS Opening Visakhapatnam Labs

Shortly after announcing the launch of its labs in Mumbai, Center of Excellence in Maritime & Shipbuilding (CEMS), a startup in skill development for maritime and shipbuilding sector, has announced readiness of its labs in Visakhapatnam.CEMS is promoted by Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) in partnership with Siemens and support from Sagarmala, Ministry of Shipping. Its Visakhapatnam campus is located in the Indian Maritime University (IMU) premises.CEMS has planned 18 labs for its Visakhapatnam campus of which six labs are ready and will be operationalized shortly.

BP, Reliance Move Ahead in Deep Water

BP and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today announced the sanctioning of the ‘Satellite cluster’ project in Block KG D6. The companies are moving forward to develop the Block’s discovered deep-water gas fields in an integrated series of projects, bringing new gas production for India. The ‘Satellite cluster’ is the second of three projects in the Block KG D6 integrated development. The first of the projects, development of the ‘R-Series’ deep-water gas fields, was sanctioned in June 2017. Together the three projects will develop a total of about 3 trillion cubic feet of discovered gas resources with a total investment of c. INR 40,000 crore (US$6 billion). Maersk Line New Services at Kakinada Port

Maersk Line India announced the introduction of Export and Import service offerings at Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh. Pacific International Lines Start Service in Far East - Red Sea Routes

Pacific International Lines (PIL), Singapore’s leading containership operator, announces two upgraded weekly services on the Far East – Red Sea service route. Done in collaboration with Ocean Alliance, the routes named RSS and RES will commence operations in March 2018, superseding the current three services RSS, RS3 and RS5. The route will be operated with a series of 17 x 11,000 to 14,000TEU vessels including its latest newbuilds, the 11,923TEU P Class in the service. The highly efficient and versatile P Class were purpose-built for Red Sea, with a ballast water treatment system fitted onboard and various energy saving measures implemented in its design. The enhanced Red Sea service will extensively cover North Asia and South East Asia with direct connections to the main Red Sea markets.

First Bunker Supply by Barge at Paradip

Gulf Petrochem Group, the UAE based global bunker supplier, has set another milestone in its operations with the first-ever bunker supply by barge at the non-conventional port of Paradip in Odisa, India’s east coast in a joint effort with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Gulf Petrochem arranged for the supply of 810 metric tons of bunker fuel IFO 180 CST by barge. Typically, supplies were made to the non-regular bunker port of Paradip only by Road Tanker Wagons (RTW) and for small volumes.

AG&P, Hindustan to Build a New LNG Import Terminal in India

Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific Company (AG&P) and Hindustan LNG (HLNG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply tolled gas to power stations in the East Godavari region of Andhra Pradesh, India. Under the agreement, AG&P will provide an integrated solution to deliver regasified LNG through a new LNG import terminal that AG&P will also design and build at the port in Andhra Pradesh. AG&P is a leading global integrator of LNG infrastructure solutions including LNG terminals and the supply chains that emanate from them. HLNG is a Hyderabad-based LNG import terminal development company. The MoU was signed at the Partnership Summit 2017 organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the signing was graced by Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Paradip Port Achieves Record Coal Discharge

Paradip Port has achieved a record discharge of 62,730 MT of coking coal for a conventional berth in a time-frame of 24 hours overcoming its previous high of 55,337, MT. Located at 210 nautical miles south of Kolkata and 260 nautical miles north of Visakhapatnam on the east coast of India in the Odisha state on the shore of Bay of Bengal, the port had berthed MV Pacific Energy at CQ1 carrying 87,551 MT coking coal for Jindal Power and Steel Ltd on January 5 at 1536 hours after the vessel arrived on January 4. According to industry sources close to the development, “If these sort of discharge rates are maintained, Paradip port can consolidate its position as the Number 2 major port in the country and can attract more cargo.

Krishnapatnam Port, Maersk Launches Mainline Service for China

Krishnapatnam, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has marked another milestone towards operational excellence as it launched its weekly mainline service from China to Krishnapatnam Port. The service to be operated by Maersk line in partnership with Hanjin Shipping of Korea will provide the fastest and most competitive service to the exporters and importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of China, Far East Asia and South East Asia. The current transit time for bulk cargo like furniture, office and hotel interiors which take 40-45 days to reach the consignee will be straight halved with the launch of the new service through Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal.

Shipping to Get Status of infrastructure in India

The Government of India will consider giving shipping the status of Infrastructure in the country and all efforts would be made to improve it’s productivity, says Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Chemicals & Fertilizers, Mansukh Lal Mandaviya.
