Denmark Lifts Sailing Restrictions Near Nord Stream Pipeline Leaks

Denmark has lifted restrictions on sailing in waters near the Nord Stream pipeline leaks in the Baltic Sea and said it was no longer dangerous for ships to navigatein the area. The restrictions were lifted by the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) at the recommendation of the Danish Energy Agency. The DMA said, however, it continues to discourage anchoring, fishing, and seabed works within one nautical mile (1.85 km) of the leaks due to "underwater obstacles". A string of blasts last September ripped holes in the Nord Stream pipelines linking Russia and Germany…

Denmark Launches Digital Ship Register

ExxonMobil Initiates ULSFO, LSFO Barge Deliveries in New Zealand

ExxonMobil has started barge deliveries of two grades of IMO-compliant, low-sulfur marine fuel, namely, DMA 0.001%S [Ultra Low Sulfur Marine Diesel] and DMB 0.01%S [Low Sulfur Marine Diesel] at the Port of Tauranga, New Zealand, enhancing its offer in the Asia Pacific region.The arrival of MT Kormako, the first and only bunker barge in Port of Tauranga, enhances ExxonMobil’s bunkering operation at the Port of Tauranga as fuel deliveries are now available for vessels berthed at Sulfur Point along with land-based refuelling for those moored at the port.

Another Vessel Joining Nord Stream 2 Pipeline Construction

DMA Adds 2 New Deputy Director Generals

Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) announced that two new deputy director generals joined its the Executive Board.The new deputy director generals are Rikke Wetter Olufsen and Niels Wammen-Jensen. They both come from director positions within DMA.For the past four years, Rikke has been director of Blue Growth and Maritime Policy at the Danish Maritime Authority. Rikke joined the DMA from the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, where she covered a broad portfolio of business policy areas.Niels has been director and served as the DMA's "ambassador" in the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs for the past two years.

DMA Sells an Inspection Ship

The Danish Maritime Authority, a government agency of Denmark that regulates maritime affairs, has sold the inspection vessel JENS SØRENSEN to the Norwegian shipping company Cesam Rederi AS.The inspection vessel POUL LØWENØRN will handle all the tasks concerning Survey of aids to navigation at sea as well as the seabed surveys earlier primarily carried out by JENS SØRENSEN.The reason for the sale is that the Danish Maritime Authority over a number of years has streamlined the work with the aids to navigation in the Danish navigational waters to such an extent that the tasks can be carried out by a single vessel. Cesam Rederi As is an international cargo shipping company based in Norway.

DMA Fully Established in Korsør

The Danish Maritime Authority (DMA),  a government agency of Denmark that regulates maritime affairs, announced that all of its employees at head office have now landed in Korsør, as it fully established there.The last employees have now moved from Valby to the new premises, which is divided into three locations in Korsør. Denmarks Maintains QUALSHIP 21 Status

MSC Approves Mooring Measures

The International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) has approved measures to improve the safety for seafarers when mooring ships.Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) said in a press release that between 5 and 14 June, MSC met in London to discuss current issues related to the safety and security of global shipping.Part of the agenda was dedicated to the draft measures for safe mooring operations as prepared by the SDC sub-committee based on proposals originally submitted by Denmark.The measures approved by the Committee entails an amended SOLAS regulation and guidelines intended to improve the current situation…

DMA Begins Digital Voyage

The Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) has launched a pilot project on digital certificates for seafarers.MUMBAI MÆRSK heads out from the Port of Aarhus for destinations in Europe, Africa and Asia with crew certificates that are entirely digital instead of traditional paper certificates yesterday (May 29). This is simpler, faster and safer for seafarers, shipping companies and authorities.During the voyage, the merchant ship will call into port in Germany, Morocco, Singapore, China and South Korea, where it will collect data and knowledge about the use of digital certificates for seafarers. DMA to Launch Digital Certificates for Seafarers

Personal Watercraft Certificate Mandatory in Denmark

If you are going into the water on a personal watercraft, remember that you need a personal watercraft certificate, said Danish Maritime Authority (DMA)."You must have a personal watercraft certificate to use a personal watercraft or similar vessel. Watercraft certificates are a requirement, whether you own or rent the vessel," said a press note from DMA."You can get the personal watercraft certificate by passing a test. During the test you will, among other things have to show your knowledge of the shipping regulations, and demonstrate safe behavior when navigating at different speeds, including steering and maneuvering during acceleration.

Denmark to Sniff Out Sulfur Polluters

In the coming months, a large drone will check emissions from ships in Danish waters to make sure they comply with the sulphur limit, said Danish Maritime Authority (DMA).The drone is provided by the European Maritime Safety Agency, and is to be used as a means of preventing ship pollution.The drone is fitted with a so-called "sniffer” capable of measuring sulphur emissions. Entering the ship's exhaust gas plume, the drone can register the amount of sulphur in the fuel. Denmark Supports Development Electric Ferries
