Intertanko Names New Managing Director

Intertanko announced that Dr. Peter Swift (55) has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Association after Mr. Dagfinn Lunde. He will take up his new position as from 1 February , 2001. development. Shipbrokers, Oil Brokerage House Form Freight Forwards

BraemarTankers Ltd., Galbraith's Ltd., E.A.Gibson Shipbrokers Ltd., PVM Oil Associates Ltd. and Seascope Shipping Ltd. have formed Global Freight Forwards Limited. The company has been created initially to broker forward freight swaps for the tanker market segment in key trade routes. Contracts have been devised to meet multi-client needs and in response to Owners' and Charterers' requirements for freight protection without taking physical delivery. Global Freight Forwards Limited will be supported by four of the leading London based shipbrokers with a global client base together with PVM Oil Associates, the foremost oil brokerage house, which brings its years of experience of screen and paper oil markets.

Worldscale Goes To The Internet

Worldscale, the 500-page annual guide to tanker freight rates, is going to become available via the Internet as of March 5, 2001. The site has been jointly developed by the Worldscale Associations in London and New York, and tested among existing subscribers. “This is the most significant advance in the Worldscale product since the concept was introduced more than 40 years ago,” said Iain Shaw, chairman of the Worldscale Association (London) Ltd. and CEO of Seascope Shipping Ltd. The organization believes that the Internet version – which is designed as a “no frills” package with minimal graphics – offers many advantages to the printed guide.
