Erling Sande Named Cox Powertrain's Norwegian Distributor

Cox Powertrain has announced its first European distributor appointment as Drammen, Norway based Erling Sande AS. The marine power specialist has signed an agreement to become Cox Powertrain’s sole Norwegian distributor and in doing so will play a prominent role in driving Norwegian sales of Cox Powertrain’s revolutionary marine diesel outboard engine, the CXO300, which will be launched in the second half of 2018. Created in 1932, Erling Sande AS is a well-established and respected name within Norway’s marine industry.

USCG 9TH District Commander Honors 75 Yrs Auxiliary Service

The Coast Guard 9th District honored 75 years of service from the Coast Guard Auxiliary in a ceremony at the Coast Guard Cleveland moorings today. What began as fishermen and private boaters reporting sightings of U-boats in American Coastal waters has evolved into the Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Auxiliary was established in 1939 to facilitate the operations of the Coast Guard. Starting out as the Coast Guard Reserve, it was split into a military reserve branch and auxiliary operation in February 1941. During WWII the volunteers provided search and rescue support, patrol and picket duties, port security, and limited aviation patrols. The 30,521 members of the modern day Auxiliary use 3,415 operational vessels, 236 aircraft, and 2,459 communication stations to patrol U.S.

Eye on the Navy

On July 22, 2009, the Royal Australian Navy replenishment oiler HMAS Success (AOR 304) sends a fuel probe to the guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) during an underway replenishment. McCampbell is underway with the Essex Strike Group in support of the bilateral training exercise Talisman Saber 2009, a biennial exercise between U.S. and Australian forces designed to enhance interoperability. USS John S. McCain Replenishes USS Lassen

By Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Byron C. Linder, Det. Sailors of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) provided needed personnel, repair parts, food stores and mail to USS Lassen (DDG 82), March 15. At sunrise, the two warships met in the and commenced vertical replenishment at sea (VERTREP). The embarked team of Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light (HSL) 51 provided helo support to move the goods. John S. McCain's Supply Department arranged for the delivery to the Lassen due to Lassen's short-notice operational tasking. Supply Officer, Lt. Todd Malaki, John S. McCain, noted the ship's ability to fill a role normally assigned to a replenishment ship was efficiently executed. "This was planned in a quick e-mail," Malaki said.

Jacobs Acquires Engineering Firm

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has acquired W.H. Linder & Associates, Inc., an upstream/offshore engineering firm based in Metairie, La.; and Houston, Texas. Officials did not disclose the terms of the acquisition. Linder is a full-service, multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with over 300 people and 25 years of experience in the upstream/offshore market. They offer a comprehensive suite of engineering and support services; with their core services tailored to the oil & gas sector. Jacobs operates from two major locations on the U.S. Gulf Coast (Houston and Baton Rouge), and serves their oil, gas, refining, chemical, and aerospace clients from those locations.
