Mega 20,150 TEU Containership Named MOL Triumph

A new 20,150 TEU containership has captured the “world’s largest” title: MOL Triumph, the first in a series of new mega containerships for Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., (MOL) was named at Samsung Heavy Industries, Ltd.’s (SHI) Geoje, South Korea shipyard. MOL Triumph is the first of four 20,000 TEU class ultra-large container carriers ordered by MOL in February 2015 to be built by SHI for 2017 delivery. Pride International. to Construct More Deepwater Drillships

Pride International, Inc. (NYSE: PDE) announced that the company has reached agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries, Ltd. (SHI) for the construction of a fifth ultra-deepwater drillship, further expanding the company's ultra-deepwater fleet size and drilling capabilities. Consistent with the company's previous four ultra-deepwater drillships ordered since 2007, the new unit will be constructed on a fixed price basis at the SHI shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, with an expected delivery in mid-2013. Hamworthy Wins Orders for 8 LNG Reliquefaction Systems

Hamworthy PLC said it won orders to supply 8 LNG reliquefaction systems worth over 20 mln stg and said the deliveries will be made during 2008. Hamworthy said Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co Ltd ordered equipment for seven LNG carriers, while Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd has ordered equipment for one vessel. Source: AFX News

Kawasaki Heavy Industry, Chinese Co. To Set Up Shipyard

As Beijing looks to boost ship exports, Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industry Ltd is likely to join state-run China Ocean Shipping Group to set up a $96.8 million shipyard in east China. The shipyard, a 50-50 joint venture, will design and build vessels of at least 160,000 dwt. There are also reports that South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd is expected to set up a wholly-owned shipyard in China.

KHI, China Ocean Shipping To Set Up Shipyard

As Beijing looks to boost ship exports, Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industry Ltd. and state-run China Ocean Shipping Group have announced intentions to set up a $96.8 million shipyard in east China. The shipyard, to be located in Nantong in Jiangsu province, would be a 50/50 joint venture and would design and build vessels of at least 160,000 dwt. There was also report last week that South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd. is expected to set up a wholly-owned shipyard in Ningbo in Zhejiang province. It said the second phase of the project would require approval from the State Development Planning Commission but gave no further details. China has been trying to boost exports to spur its sluggish economic growth.
