BP Issues Force Majeure Notice for Golar FLNG Unit

Golar LNG Ltd said on Tuesday that it received a force majeure notice from a BP Plc unit seeking to delay taking delivery of a floating liquefied natural gas facility by a year.The notice is the latest force majeure claim issued in the LNG sector that is struggling with a seasonal plunge in demand as well as the spread of the coronavirus outbreak, which has further hammered the consumption of the super-chilled fuel globally.BP is expecting a one-year delay due to the pandemic and currently sees no possibility in reducing the duration of the new timing…

Keppel Bags $118mln Upgrading Contracts

Keppel to Start Work on Golar's FLNG vessel

Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), has received the Final Notice to Proceed (FNTP) from Gimi MS Corporation, a subsidiary of Golar LNG Limited, to commence full conversion works for the Gimi Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNG) project.The wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) said in a press release that  the total contract is worth US$947million and builds on the issuance of the Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) on 17 December 2018.Keppel Shipyard's scope of work in the conversion of a Moss Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier into an FLNG vessel includes the design, detailed engineering and procurement of the marine systems as well as conversion-related construction services.It will be similar to the work done on the first FLNG vessel…

BP's Tortue/Ahmeyim FLNG Project Pushes Ahead

Golar LNG Limited announced Monday that it has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from BP Mauritania Investments Ltd and BP Senegal Investments Ltd, in their capacity as block operators, in respect of the provision of a Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNG) to support the development of Phase 1 of the Greater Tortue / Ahmeyim field, located offshore Mauritania and Senegal.The LNTP is in furtherance of a Preliminary Agreement and Heads of Terms for a Charter Agreement with BP announced by Golar in April 2018.The vessel conversion would take place at Keppel Shipyard Ltd building on Keppel's delivery of the FLNG Hilli Episeyo, utilizing Black and Veatch Corporation's PRICO technology.Golar said discussions regarding a minority investment in the vessel are also being progressed.

Keppel Secures $130 mln in Projects

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Keppel FELS Brasil S.A. and Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), secured projects from repeat customers, Petrobras and SOFEC Inc. (SOFEC) respectively, worth a combined value of approximately S$130 million. Keppel FELS Brasil's BrasFELS shipyard has secured hull carry over work for the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit P-69 from Tupi BV (a consortium formed by Petrobras Netherlands B.V., operator with 65%; Shell with 25%; and Petrogal Brasil with 10%), which is represented by Petrobras. The additional work scope on P-69 includes the installation of equipment and cables for the hull as well as the commissioning of marine systems.

Premier Oil’s Catcher project remains on pace to achieve first oil before the end of this year with the arrival and hook up of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel BW Catcher last week in the U.K. North Sea. BW Catcher arrived at the Catcher field on October 18, and the hook up of the Submerged Turret Production (STP) buoy mooring system was completed on October 19 with the vessel completing a rotation test around the buoy on October 20, Premier Oil said. Final pull-in of the risers and umbilicals is underway, and commissioning activities have commenced in parallel.

Keppel Wins SBM FPSO Conversion Deal

As energy markets start to rebound, Keppel Shipyard Ltd. secured a Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) conversion contract from  SBM Offshore N.V. (SBM Offshore). The contract calls for a VLCC to be converted into an FPSO, to be deployed to the Liza field, located approximately 193km offshore Guyana in the Stabroek block. The shipyard's work scope includes refurbishment and life extension works, such as the upgrading of living quarters, fabrication and installation of spread mooring systems, as well as the installation and integration of topside modules. The converted FPSO will have a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels of crude oil and is capable of producing up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day.

Keppel to Deliver World's First Converted FLNGV

Keppel Offshore & Marine's (Keppel O&M) wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), will soon deliver the world's first converted Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNGV) owned by Golar Hilli Corporation (Golar), a subsidiary of Golar LNG Ltd. The vessel was named Hilli Episeyo at a ceremony in Keppel Shipyard today. Upon its completion, the FLNGV will be put in operation offshore Kribi, Cameroon for Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures and Perenco Cameroon SA, and will be the first FLNGV project in Africa. Keppel Bags $85 Mln Conversion and Repair Projects

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) has through its wholly owned subsidiary, Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), won four contracts worth a total of $85 million for the conversion, repair and modification of vessels. The first contract is from Dixstone Holdings Ltd, for the conversion of the M/T Tempera into an FPSO. Keppel Shipyard's job scope includes the installation of topside process skids as well as a new accommodation module, amongst others. Work is expected to commence in 3Q 2017 and upon its expected delivery in 3Q 2018, the FPSO will be deployed to the Yombo field operated by Perenco off the Republic of Congo, Africa. It will replace the FPSO Conkouati which has served the field for more than 25 years and was also converted by Keppel Shipyard in 1991.

BW Offshore to get FPSO from Keppe

Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), is on track to deliver a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to BW Catcher Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BW Offshore. When completed BW Catcher will be on a 7-year fixed term and 18 years of options contract with Premier Oil and will be deployed to the Catcher Field located in Central North Sea, UK. Keppel Shipyard's work scope on the FPSO include the installation and integration of topside modules. BW Catcher is scheduled for sailaway from the shipyard in the next few months and is on track to achieve its first oil in 2017. "Having worked together on 11 other projects previously, Keppel has proven to be a reliable partner," said Carl Arnet, CEO, BW Offshore.

Wärtsilä, Shipyards Partner on BWMS Retrofits

The technology group Wärtsilä is in the process of signing agreements with a number of major shipyards, the latest being Keppel Shipyard Ltd (KSL) of Singapore. The agreements are intended to establish cooperation and communication between the parties in relation to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Convention for Ballast Water Management, which is due to enter into force in September of this year. The shared goal of the parties is to provide ship owners and operators with all necessary information and assistance concerning Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS).

Keppel to Deliver First North Sea FPSO

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M)'s wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) is on track to deliver a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to Armada Kraken Pte Ltd (Armada Kraken), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada). The naming ceremony of the FPSO, Armada Kraken, was held at Keppel Shipyard yesterday. Armada Kraken is a harsh-environment FPSO unit that is designed for operations in the North Sea under a stringent regulatory regime. The FPSO vessel, which has a design life of 25 years without dry-docking, will be deployed to produce the heavy oil (API degree 14) found in the Kraken field in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Keppel Secures Marine Projects worth S$120 mln

Totem Inks LNG Conversion Deal with Keppel

Totem Ocean Trailer Express announced that it has signed a contract with Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd for the conversion of  the  Midnight Sun to dual fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion. This is the world’s first major conversion of a large RO/RO vessel to LNG. The work will begin in December and is expected to be completed in 90 days. Once complete, the Midnight Sun will emit fewer air and greenhouse gas emissions, reducing emissions of particulate matter by 91 percent, NOx by 100 percent, SOx by 90 percent and carbon dioxide by 35 percent. Her sister ship, the North Star, is expected to be converted in the 2016/2017 time frame. Totem Ocean will be the first in North America to begin the conversion to natural gas.
