Kongsberg to Design and Equip Sirius Rederi's New Chemical Tanker Pair

Kongsberg Maritime on Monday announced it has won a contract to supply design, engineering, and equipment for two MGO/biofuel and methanol-ready chemical tankers for Swedish tanker operator Sirius Rederi AB. The low emission 15,000dwt tanker vessels will feature a range of Kongsberg Maritime equipment and can operate on battery-powered hybrid propulsion. Options for further vessels are included.This latest contract builds on a current nine-ship program with fellow Swedish owner Terntank, with a similar design and equipment package.

Kongsberg Completes 10,000th AutoChief Propulsion Control System FAT

The 10,000th Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for Kongsberg Maritime’s AutoChief propulsion control system took place at Kongsberg Maritime Korea in Busan on Friday, April 27. The AutoChief 600 system tested will be installed on a new LEG carrier featuring a 2-stroke MAN B&W engine being built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (Hull 8258), for owner Solvang ASA. Kongsberg Launches New Propulsion Control System

The next generation of AutoChief propulsion control systems from Kongsberg Maritime is now officially available. The new AutoChief 600 (AC 600) is suitable for all two and four stroke engines, for both fixed and controllable pitch propeller. It features new touch screen operation based on the Kongsberg Maritime standardized Human Machine Interface (HMI). KMSS Wins 22-Ship Deal

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has been contracted to provide its AutoChief Propulsion Control system for 22 ships currently in production in China and Korea. The orders, worth NOK 7.5m were all taken in November and are further evidence of the massive inroads that KMSS has made into the eastern marine markets throughout 2002. "Since we announced our new focussed direction at SMM this year, KMSS has become firmly established in both the Korean and Chinese shipbuilding markets," said Lars Gorvell-Dahl, President of KMSS. "The latest AutoChief orders mark an excellent period for KMSS and it's subsidiaries in the East," he added.
