TS Lines Adds Pan Asia Service Loop

Yang Ming Launches New China-Malaysia Direct Service

Taiwanese ocean shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (YM) has announced the launch of CMS service (China-Malaysia service) with effect on February 23rd, 2019 (estimated time of berth from Qingdao).The service is jointly operated by Yang Ming, Gold Star Line Ltd.(GSL), T.S. Lines Co., Ltd (TSL) and CNC, a brand of APL Co. Pte Ltd. Each carrier will deploy a container vessel of nominal 4,250 TEU capacity, said a statement from the marine transportation company.The ports of call are Qingdao, Shanghai, Xiamen, Nansha, Port Kelang, Penang, Port Kelang, Pasir Gudang, Shekou, Hong Kong, Qingdao. A round trip will take 28 days.In addition to the Intra-Asia deployment of more than 35 services, YM continues to strengthen its service network.

North Korean Coal Ships Sail Home after China Denies Cargo

A fleet of North Korean cargo ships is heading home to the port of Nampo, the majority of it fully laden, after China ordered its trading companies to return coal from the isolated country, shipping data shows. Following repeated missile tests that drew international criticism, China banned all imports of North Korean coal on Feb. 26, cutting off the country's most important export product. To curb coal traffic between the two countries, China's customs department issued an official order on April 7 telling trading companies to return their North Korean coal cargoes, said three trading sources with direct knowledge of the order. U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping were discussing North Korea at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort on April 7.

Deep Sea Carriers Attracted to Intra-Asia Routes: Analysis

Cargo growth on intra-Asia routes is attracting deep-sea carriers due to the availability of cheap charter vessels and economies of scale between China and SE Asia, but regional players also know how to form defensive alliances, reports Drewry Maritime Research in its latest 'Container Insight Weekly'. Financially troubled deep-sea ocean carriers are increasingly seeking salvation in the intra-Asia market due to higher than usual cargo growth and the availability of cheap vessel charter rates. Seldom does a month pass without the announcement of at least one new regional service, some of which now deploy vessels over 4,000 teu. Evergreen, Wan Hai Lines Enhance Asia Services

Evergreen Line has reached an agreement with Wan Hai Lines to exchange slots on Evergreen's NSA/NSB services, as well as Wan Hai's KSS/KVS services with effect from Feb. 22, 2009. The agreement between the two Taiwanese ocean carriers will enhance Evergreen's service network in the intra-Asia trade. The impacted services have the following port rotations:The NSA service rotation is as follows: Osaka - Kobe - Iwakuni - Moji - Hakata - Taipei - Taichung - Kaohsiung - Nansha - Shekou - Hong Kong. The KSS service rotation is as follows: Penang - Port Klang - Pasir Gudang - Singapore - Hong Kong - Kaohsiung - Keelung - Inchon - Kwangyang - Pusan- Keelung- Kaohsiung- Hong Kong- Singapore- Port Klang-Penang.
