Shipping Tribune Conclave Saw Strong Industry Participation

“The Shipping Tribune Conclave 2014” held yesterday at Holiday Inn, Mumbai saw a significantly large participation of stalwarts and operators of the Shipping Industry. Issues which affecting the employment and employability of Indian Seafarers came into focus. Mr. S. Hajara, one of the wll-known names in the shipping industry while delivering the keynote address highlighted the contribution and achievements of Indian seafarers. Capt. Vinay Singh emphasized the need for more quality officers for seniors ranks while also highlighting that the time taken to pass the competency examinations by our officers and engineers at junior level is far more  as compared to officers appearing for examination overseas.

Royal Australian Navy Chairs Indian Ocean Symposium

The Royal Australian Navy is currently chairing the group of world navies whose nations share boundaries with the Indian Ocean at he biennial Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) which was established in 2008 as a forum to increase maritime cooperation among the littoral states of the Indian Ocean region. Indian Port Claims Single Day Coal Discharge World Record

Krishnapatnam Port claims world record for discharging 122,247 MT's of coal from ship in 24 hrs using conventional cranes. The cargo was discharged from the MV Cohiba which had 161,980 MT of US Coal on account of JSW Steels Limited. The remaining 39,733 MT of coal was due to be dishcarged the following day by the saime mobile harbor cranes. SMM India - CLOSING REPORT

With some 3,000 delegates and visitors from all parts of the world, SMM India, shipbuilding, machinery & marine technology international trade fair, closed after the three scheduled days of the exhibition and accompanying conference, held in Mumbai from 7 to 9 April. This second event established SMM India as one of the most important maritime trade fairs on the subcontinent. The state-of-the-art products and new developments presented there met with a great deal of interest from the trade visitors, among whom there was a delegation of thirteen representatives of German industry.

Krishnapatnam Port Wins Award

Krishnapatnam Port took the top honors for the second time in a row, in the Non-Major Port category at the 2nd South East CEO Conclave & Awards 2010, organized by The Exim Shipping Times and held on 31st July 2010 at Chennai, India. Krishnapatnam Port was felicitated in this category based on the parameters of operational performance, infrastructure development & customer satisfaction. This is further proven by the 100% growth rate in volume throughput achieved by handling 16.1 Mn MT in FY 2009-10 vis-a-vis 8.1 Mn MT in FY 2008-09.
