US Coast Guard Responds to Another GoM Oil Spill

The U.S. Coast Guard said on Wednesday it was responding to an oil discharge near the Main Pass Oil Gathering (MPOG) Co's pipeline system in the Gulf of Mexico, while the main pipeline and several surrounding ones remained shut in."The reported sheen is being investigated and has not been confirmed to be associated with the November 16 observed initial discharge," the Coast Guard said.The Coast Guard had not yet identified any damage or indication of a leak after surveying the entire length of the pipeline along with 22.16 miles (36 km) of surrounding pipelines.

A “Look Under the Hood”

Students glimpse the U.S. On April 25 2013, my family and I went to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Ship Systems Engineering Station (SSES), for national “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” Most of the people who work there are engineers. Personnel at SSES design and create extremely technological naval ships and submarines, while figuring out new means of power besides oil. Throughout the day, children and parents were put into nine groups, and each group visited nine stations throughout the facility.

New Manufacturing Plant to Open in Malta

The Ministry for Investment, Industry and Information Technology, together with the Italian firm Finultra SpA, recently announced the setting up of a new manufacturing plant in Malta for the production of specialized equipment used by the maritime industry. The new manufacturing plant is expected to commence with operations in January under the Malta registered Maresi Ltd. Finultra, its Italian mother company has been in operation for over 70 years, and registers a turnover of over $54m. The Maltese plant which will be located at the Bulebel Industrial Estate will be manufacturing magnetic compasses and other electronically controlled devices used in the maritime industry. These products will be exported to European and North American markets.

Kronos and U.S. Navy Continue Collaboration

Kronos Air Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kronos Advanced Technologies, Inc., and the United States Navy executed a Small Business Innovation Research Phase II contract to develop and demonstrate an advanced distributive air management system based on the patented Kronos(TM) technology. The 24-month contract is worth $585,000 with an option for an additional $144,000 in funding. This Phase II contract is an extension of the Phase I and Phase I Option work that began last year and represents further validation of the Kronos(TM) technology by the U.S. Department of Defense. The work and funding on Phase II will begin immediately.
