Fourth CTV Launched for WindServe Marine

Senesco Marine held a launch and christening ceremony for WindServe Marine's new Jones-Act-compliant crew transfer vessel (CTV), WindServe Explorer.WindServe Marine, a sister company to the North Kingstown, R.I. shipbuilder—both part of the Reinauer Group—will operate the CTV to serve the U.S. offshore wind industry. The vessel is slated to enter operations at a project in the U.S. Northeast.The BMT-designed aluminum catamaran is 27 meters long with a 9-meter beam and 1.7-meter draft.

Senesco Marine on Wednesday launched a new Jones-Act-compliant crew transfer vessel (CTV), WindServe Journey.WindServe Marine, a sister company to the North Kingstown, R.I. shipbuilder—both part of the Reinauer Group—will operate the CTV to serve the U.S. offshore wind industry. The vessel is slated to enter operations at a project in the U.S. Northeast.The BMT-designed aluminum catamaran is 27 meters long with a 9-meter beam and 1.7-meter draft. It is equipped with Volvo Penta D13 main engines (515kW at 2,300 RPM) and a Volvo Penta IPS 900 propulsion system.

Kohler announced the appointment of Charles Hunsucker to the role of President - Kohler Power Systems reporting to Brian Melka, Group President – Energy.Hunsucker joined Kohler Co. in 2000 and has held several leadership positions of increasing responsibility within the organization. Farra Marine Orders Seven New CTVs

Irish crew transfer vessel (CTV) owner and operator Farra Marine has expanded its fleet of CTVs after ordering another seven vessels from Singapore-based Penguin Shipyard International. The new CTVs are part of the WindFlex-27 series, and when complete will couble Farra Marine CTV fleet servicing the UK and European offshore wind industry. By early 2024, 13 of the 14 CTVs in Farra Marine’s fleet will be Incat Crowther-designed, Penguin-built vessels. Anchorage Launch Gets New Metal Shark-built Crew Boat

Metal Shark delivered a welded-aluminum 45 Defiant crew boat to Anchorage Launch Services Company, an Oregon-based operator providing launch, line, pilotage, and cargo services to vessels on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.Designed in-house by the Metal Shark engineering team and built at the company’s Jeanerette, La., production facility, the 47 x 12 ft. twin-diesel waterjet-powered “Triumph VII” is now in service.“Our captains, crew, and passengers have all been very impressed with the capabilities of our new vessel,” said Alex Scott, COO of Anchorage Launch.

Incat Crowther has announced the launch of Mar de Cies, an Incat Crowther 32 built by Astilleros Armon for Spanish operator Mar De Ons. Designed specifically for the operation, the vessel demonstrates many benefits of a customized design solution.The vessel is designed for a low propeller draft to allow access to shallow docks.The main deck seats 218 passengers at tables, with a large kiosk at the forward end. Two Incat Crowther 37s Delivered to Mexico

Incat Crowther has announced the delivery of a pair of Incat Crowther 37 passenger ferries to Mexico.Built by Wight Shipyard, Lady D and Lady A have been delivered to Mexico’s largest operator Ultramar, where they will join an extensive fleet of Incat Crowther-designed vessels. Incat Crowther announced the launch of Lady Megan, a 19m Catamaran Fisheries Patrol Vessel. Built by Mainstay Marine for the Welsh Government, Lady Megan is designed to be a robust and versatile vessel that packs immense functionality into its modest platform and is designed to operate year round in the Irish Sea.The aft working deck of Lady Megan is the epicenter of this functionality, featuring a hydraulically operated tender launch and recovery system, capable of launching and retrieving a 5m RIB while the vessel is in motion in Sea State 3.

New Research Vessel for Virginia Institute of Marine Science

A new research vessel for the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) has completed sea trials and is transiting to its home port in Virginia.The new vessel, the R/V Virginia, will support the institution’s fisheries research projects and greatly expand VIMS’ capability to perform general oceanographic research in the Chesapeake Bay as well as mid-Atlantic coastal waters. Interest in the new research vessel is already growing rapidly as next season is almost fully booked with science cruises.The 93-foot vessel was built by Meridien Maritime Reparation.

KOHLER Launches New Oils for Generator Applications

A new line of aftermarket genuine oil from KOHLER is engineered specifically for generator applications. The fully-synthetic premium oils are available in three formulations for different fuel types and are optimized for use in industrial, mobile, marine and home generators. “Generators have to run when they’re needed – there’s no room for downtime,” said Patricio Iligaray, Manager of Aftermarket Parts for Kohler Power Systems. “And, the oil you choose makes a real difference. Vigor Begins Building NYPD Response Boat

U.S. shipbuilder Vigor said it has begun constructing a fifth 45’ Response Boat - Medium C (RB-M C) for its long-time customer, the New York Police Department (NYPD) Harbor Unit. New Towboat Delivered to Lorris G. Towing

M/V Cole Guidry, the newly designed Bollinger inland towboat, was delivered to owner Lorris G. Towing on December 16, 2016. The M/V Cole Guidry, designed and built by Bollinger Shipyards, is a 2,000 HP inland towboat measuring 80 feet by 36 feet with a 10-foot draft. The vessel is powered by three Caterpillar C18 Tier 3 engines rated at 670 HP each, supplied by Louisiana Machinery. The reduction gears are Twin Disc Model MGX517ODC with a ratio of 6:1. Electrical power is provided by three Kohler generators, 65 kW each, supplied by Caroline Marine.

The American Club Celebrates Its Centenary

The American P&I Club was founded in New York nearly a century ago. To celebrate its first 100 years, a book entitled The American Club: A Centennial History has just been published. The book tells the story of the Club across ten decades of maritime and marine insurance history both within the United States and across the world. Its author is Richard Blodgett, a former Wall Street Journal reporter whose previous credits include histories of the New York Stock Exchange, Kohler and Co. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. The American Club was founded in February, 1917.

Kvichak Delivers for the NYPD

Kvichak, a Vigor company, delivered a fourth, 45-foot Response Boat - Medium C (RB-M C) to its longtime customer, the New York Police Department Harbor Unit. The Kvichak RB-M C is the commercial variant of the Response Boat - Medium (RB-M), purpose built for the U.S. Coast Guard. To date, 174 RB-Ms have been delivered to the Coast Guard. The vessel was designed by Kvichak in partnership with Camarc Design for high speed and high performance, including tactical handling and specialized mission capabilities, the shipbuilder said.
