Maersk Debuts Online Spot Booking System

Danish shipping conglomerate Maersk launched a digital service that is designed to simplify supply chains and provides customers with a cargo loading guarantee at a fixed price.The Maersk Spot platform also helps its clients by addressing some of the fundamental inefficiencies that exist across the industry, said a press release."It is not uncommon to see overbookings to the tune of 30%, and often this leads to rolling of the customers’ cargoes since there is overbooking to compensate for the high downfall," said Silvia Ding, Global Head of Ocean Products at Maersk. "This creates a lot of uncertainty for our customers. With Maersk Spot, we provide full visibility of the price and terms that will ensure cargoes get on board.

Maastricht Maersk Makes Maiden Call to Rotterdam

Maersk's New Americas Company, SeaLand, to Commence in 2015

Ocean transportation company Maersk Line, a unit of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, announced today the formation of a regional, containerized shipping company – SeaLand - dedicated to the intra-Americas market. The new affiliate will have a structure similar to Maersk's other regional carriers such as intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport and intra-Europe carrier Seago Line. SeaLand will feature knowledgeable, local sales and support personnel positioned in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean, to meet the unique needs of customers throughout the region.

L-3 Reports Good 1Q Results

Amid the doom and gloom which has become revenue reporting season, it is refreshing to note that L-3 Communications reports that first quarter of 2002, sales were $696.8 million, an increase of 50.9% over sales of $461.9 million in the first quarter of 2001. 52.0%. Globalstar Partners with OCENS

Globalstar, Inc., will with software and communications company, OCENS, to launch a new suite of data services. OCENS Mail, WeatherNet and GRIB Explorer products are now available to Globalstar subscribers in the United States, providing optimized email transfer speeds and important weather and ocean information services via the Globalstar satellite network. OCENS Mail for Globalstar will provide satellite customers with the capability to transfer emails 20 times faster than when using standard email software. The program is optimized for the Globalstar network, offering virus scanning, filtering and mail forwarding services and works with existing email services such as Outlook Express.
