Gulf Island Sells Excess Property in Houma

Gulf Island Fabrication, a steel fabricator and service provider to the industrial and energy sectors, announced on Tuesday it has completed the sale of excess property that was part of the company’s facilities located in Houma, La.Gulf Island said the sale to an undisclosed buyer generated net cash proceeds of approximately $8.5 million.“A key aspect of our strategic transformation has been to improve our resource and facility utilization and the sale of this property at our Houma facility is consistent with this objective,” said Richard Heo, Gulf Island’s president and CEO.

Dominion Sees Virginia Offshore Wind Farm Complete in Late 2026

U.S. energy company Dominion Energy said on Friday that its roughly $10 billion Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project was on budget and on track for completion in late 2026.The company said in its second quarter earnings presentation that it expected to get a Record of Decision from the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Management (BOEM) in the second half of 2023. The Record of Decision is a step in the process before construction can start.The roughly 2,600-megawatt (MW) project consists of 176 turbines

First US-Built Offshore Wind Substation Sets Sail

Offshore wind developers Ørsted and Eversource marked the sailaway of the first U.S.-built offshore wind substation, which departed a Texas fabrication facility Wednesday. The substation is transiting across the Gulf of Mexico and then up the East Coast for installation at the South Fork Wind project site in a few weeks.Kiewit Offshore Services, Ltd. (Kiewit), the largest offshore fabricator in the U.S., designed and built the substation, which will be deployed at Ørsted and Eversource’s South Fork Wind project serving Long Island

Seaway7 and Saipem Partner in Pursuit of Offshore Wind Work

Subsea 7's renewables-focused offshore installation subsidiary Seaway7 on Thursday announced it has struck a deal with offshore services company Saipem to collaboratively pursue projects in the growing offshore wind industry.Under the commercial collaboration agreement, the companies plan to jointly identify, bid and execute fixed offshore wind projects, seeking those "where the combined utilization of the companies’ complementary world-class assets, technologies, products and competencies will generate significant synergies and improve project economics"

Naming Ceremony Held for Edda Wind's CSOV

Edda Wind, the Norwegian offshore wind vessel owner, held a naming ceremony for its "Edda Boreas" commissioning service operation vessel on Saturday.The traditional ceremony where a bottle of champagne was sacrificed for good luck took place at Gondan Shipbuilders in Spain. “Boreas” comes from the god of northerly wind in Greek mythology.The Edda Boreas is a purpose-built Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), prepared for emission-free operations with a hydrogen-based propulsion system.

Fincantieri's Goal: Net Profit in 2025

Italy's shipbuilder Fincantieri said on Friday it would return to net profit in 2025, focusing on its three core businesses of cruise, defense, and specialized offshore vessels. Under a five-year business plan, Fincantieri forecasts revenues of 8.8 billion euros ($9.38 billion) in 2025 and 9.8 billion euros in 2027 from 6.7 billion euros last year. The ratio between debt and profitability is seen declining to 2.5-3.5 in 2027, while the core profit will be around 8% of revenues.($1 = 0.9382 euros) (Reuters - Reporting by Elisa Anzolin, editing by Alvise Armellini)

Windcat Orders Two Hydrogen-powered CSOVs from Damen Shipyards

Offshore crew transfer company Windcat said Tuesday it had ordered two hydrogen-powered Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (“CSOVs”) from the Dutch company Damen Shipyards, with options for further vessels.The “Elevation Series” CSOVs have been designed by Damen Shipyards in cooperation with Windcat and CMB.TECH. The hydrogen-powered vessels will be 87 m long, 20 m wide, can accommodate 120 people on board. The first delivery is expected in 2025. Financial details were not disclosed.The CSOVs will be built at Ha Long Shipyard

Norwegian offshore vessel company Solstad Offshore has won contracts for three of its subsea construction vessels (CSV).Normand Vision has been awarded a new contract with Havfram AS for a period of 3 years firm plus an option for an extra 2 years. The contract will start in January 2024, in direct continuation of present agreement with Havfram.Normand Ocean has been awarded an extension and a new contract with DeepOcean AS for a total period of 2 years firm from January 2024.

First Foundations Installed at World's Largest Offshore Wind Farm

The first monopile and transition piece have been installed at the Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the U.K. North Sea, marking a key milestone for the construction of the world's largest offshore wind farm.The foundations, designed by Wood Thilsted, are up to 72m in length, weigh on average 1057 tonnes and include the world’s largest 8m offshore wind flange. Singapore's offshore platform constructor Sembcorp Marine has completed the fabrication of two wellhead topsides, one riser topside, and two bridges for deployment at TotalEnergies’ Tyra field redevelopment in the Danish North Sea.The topsides and bridges sailed away from Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard Sunday. Yinson's First FPSO for Brazil Arrives at Second Shipyard

Malaysia's Yinson said its floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO) Anna Nery sailed away from the Cosco Qidong shipyard in Jiangsu, China and has entered drydock at the Cosco Changxing shipyard in Shanghai, marking the next phase of the FPSO construction.FPSO Anna Nery, which is being built from a converted tanker Falcon, is Yinson’s first asset planned for deployment in Brazil and the largest project to date.
