Mission ‘Row Around Singapore Island’ 2015

With only 7 days to go to the big Singapore charity row, Row Around Singapore Island (RASI) the intrepid volunteer rowers from the maritime community of Singapore have been undertaking their final practice weekend at the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club. The original concept for this ground-breaking non-stop endurance challenge was conceived and organised by three friends Iain Anderson of RPC, Lewis Hart of Willis and Ian Teare of Norton Rose Fulbright. Navis Builds on Singapore Success

Resolution

Navis Engineering has completed work on its latest project involving fast-growing Singaporean offshore specialist Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO), following the commissioning of the DP2 system on board the 70m ROV and diving support vessel Resolution. After successful sea trials and a christening ceremony at the Keppel Bay Marina, Singapore, the vessel has departed for Indonesia, on a three-year charter to Seascape Surveys. For Navis, the project follows quickly after its supply of the DP2 system onboard MEO Ranger, a 65m length platform supply vessel now operating in the Persian Gulf.

‘Torch of Passion’ Guides Clipper Race Fleet into Keppel Bay

A Singapore welcome greeted the international fleet of 10 in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race as they sailed into Marina at Keppel Bay over the weekend to rousing cheers from Singaporeans, families and residents of Keppel Bay. Dr Lee Boon Yang, Chairman of Keppel Corporation, ignited the ‘Torch of Passion', starting the welcome celebrations for the fleet which had just completed Race 7, a 4,600-mile race from Gold Coast, Australia, to Singapore. At the ceremony, Guest-of-Honor Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, presented the Keppel-sponsored Singapore Cup to the winning team from Gold Coast Australia…

Largest Bunker Tanker Launched

According to a June 17 report from The Business Times, Singapore launched the world's largest purpose-built bunker tanker by Hong Lam Marine. The 22,000 deadweight tonne tanker Spectrum, which was launched at Marina at Keppel Bay on June 16 and immediately put into service, is a collaboration between Hong Lam and Toyota Tsusho Corp (TTC). Asia’s First Two Arctic Icebreakers

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has completed Asia’s first two icebreakers, built for one of the harshest marine frontiers on Earth, the Arctic sea for client, LUKOIL-Kaliningradmorneft (LUKOIL). Mr Charles Foo, Chairman of Keppel Singmarine, said “This is the first time that icebreakers meant for the Arctic region have been built in the tropics. The second vessel was named Varandey by Mrs Lyudmila Velikova, wife of Mr Victor Velikov, Deputy General-Director of LUKOIL at a Russian-themed ceremony at Marina at Keppel Bay today.

Landmark Bridge Opens in Singapore

Singapore’s new landmark bridge at the southern waterfront, Keppel Bay Bridge, was named and opened by His Excellency S R Nathan, President of Singapore.
