Fincantieri Scoops $1.27B Deal to Supply Two Patrol Vessels to Indonesia

Fincantieri and the Indonesian Ministry of Defense have signed a contract for the supply of two Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessel (PPA) units.The $1.27 billion (€1.18 billion) deal is part of the framework of collaborative relations initiated by the Italian Ministry of Defense.A PPA is a highly flexible ship with an outstanding technological standard. Maersk to Buy LF Logistics for $3.6B

ZIM Establishes Digital Freight Forwarding Company

Abu Dhabi Ports, Allianz Marine form Offshore Logistics JV

Alibaba Group and Zim Partner on Sea Freight

Alibaba Group Holdings and Israeli shipping group Zim have entered a strategic cooperation agreement for the direct purchase of sea freight, which will improve logistic services to merchants selling on Alibaba, Zim said on Monday.Zim said it will provide sea freight and services through a direct interface with the e-commerce giant’s logistics platform.The companies have been cooperating since earlier this year, the shipper said in a statement.Zim is 32% owned by Kenon Holdings.(Reporting by Ari Rabinovitch; Editing by Tova Cohen)

Fincantieri Acquires Comms Equipment Supplier

Fincantieri said it has acquired a majority share in communications equipment supplier Support Logistic Services (SLS) as the Italian shipbuilding group continues its push to diversify and expand its product and service portfolio.Rome-based SLS, which produces, installs and maintens radar, satellite and radio communications systems for military and civil applications, will be added under Fincantieri's information technology and electronics subsidiary INSIS, part of the group's newborn Electronics, Systems & Software Division.

SeaMar Awarded Agency Contract from CMA CGM

Jeff Bezos Invests in Digital Freight Forwarder Beacon

Farstad Supply Sells PSV Far Swift

Norwegian offshore service and supply ship shipping company Solstad Offshore said that its wholly owned subsidiary Farstad Supply AS has sold the platform supply vessel (PSV) Far Swift.Delivery of the 2003-built vessel to the new owner took place October 31st, 2019, said a press note.The sale of the vessels will have a minor positive accounting effect for 4Q 2019, it said.Farstad Supply AS manufactures and supplies offshore vessels. The company offers anchor handling tug, platform supply, and sub-sea vessels for material transportation, as well as provides logistic services.

ABP, Peterson Sign Pact

Four New Crew Boats for Allianz

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered four new Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2610 to Allianz Middle East Ship Management. Milaha Eyes Global Expansion

Qatar Navigation (Milaha) is planning to expand operations and capabilities in Qatar and overseas as part of its long term plan to improve efficiency and profitability. Gulf Navigation to Acquire Atlantic Navigation

Dubai-based Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (GulfNav) is in discussions to acquire a majority stake in Singapore-based Atlantic Navigation Holdings, a provider of offshore marine logistic services. Atlantic is an integrated offshore supply operation engaged in the provisioning of marine logistic services, ship repair, fabrication and other marine services. It operates out of the UAE serving primarily customers in the Middle East and India. Atlantic is an offshore marine logistic services group listed on the Singapore Stock with total assets of $177m. Gulf Navigation is in discussion with major oil companies in the Gulf Region to provide key project solution and offshore services.

EID Wins Portuguese Navy Communications Contract

Cohort company EID has been awarded a contract by the Portuguese Navy for the supply of Integrated Communications systems to the Tejo class coastal patrol vessels. The €4.6 million contract encompasses the supply of radio equipment, ICCS, integration engineering and logistic services. Maersk, Alibaba Team up to offer Online Booking

Maersk, the world's largest container shipping line, has teamed up with Alibaba to allow customers to reserve space on its vessels through the Chinese company, illustrating growing cooperation between e-commerce and logistics firms. Maersk, a unit of Denmark's A.P. Moller-Maersk, began offering the service to Chinese shippers on Alibaba's OneTouch booking website on Dec. 22, a spokeswoman for the shipping line said on Wednesday. Shippers traditionally go through freight forwarders to book space for goods on container vessels, but lines such as Maersk are allowing cargo owners to book directly via the internet. For their part, e-commerce companies are increasingly venturing into logistics activities to try to gain better control over their supply chain networks.

Little Rock Port Authority Reports August Shipping

Total barge tonnage through the Port of Little Rock in August was 57,000 net tons. Dock activities continue to compare favorably to calendar year 2015 as Logistic Services, Inc. has handled 347 barges during the first half of 2016 year and 560,000 net tons of various commodities have moved across the docks at the Port of Little Rock. Break bulk commodities accounted for just over 50% of the total river tonnage for August. Cargoes handled across the docks included potash, rock, wetcake, bauxite, granite fines, wire rod coils, scrap metal, pipe and steel coils. The US Army Corps of Engineers reports that 921,119 tons of commodities moved through the McClellan-Kerr Navigation System in August 2016.

Little Rock Port Authority Reports June Shipping

Total barge tonnage through the Port of Little Rock in May was 66,000 net tons. Dock activities continue to compare favorably to calendar year 2015. Logistic Services, Inc. has handled 274 barges during the first half of 2016 year and 410,000 net tons of various commodities have moved across the docks at the Port of Little Rock. Bulk commodities outpaced break-bulk cargo accounting for 55% of the tonnage handled across the docks. Cargoes handled across the docks included DAP, sulfate, triple phosphate, urea, rock, wetcake, bauxite, granite fines, wire rod coils, scrap, stainless scrap, steel coils and pipe. The US Army Corps of Engineers reports that 979,684 tons of commodities moved through the McClellan-Kerr Navigation System in June 2016.

Morocco Sells 40% Stake in Port Operator in IPO

The Moroccan government raised 1.94 billion dirhams ($197 million) by selling a 40 percent stake in state-owned port operator Marsa Maroc in the country's first initial public offering this year, traders said on Monday. Marsa Maroc was established in 2006 and manages terminals at nine Moroccan ports and provides logistic services. The port operator has said it is seeking funds for expansion as it plans to bid for two other terminals at Casablanca Port and is looking for opportunities elsewhere in North and West Africa. The offering was the first ever for a privatisation and could help to revive Casablanca's stock market, which has suffered from the knock-on effects of the euro zone debt crisis and a lack of foreign investors.

Port of Little Rock Reports Strong May Volumes

The Port of Little Rock has reported 73,000 net tons of total barge tonnage in May. Dock activities compared favorably over the previous year with Logistic Services, Inc. (LSI) handling 228 barges during the first five months of the year. 350,000 net tons of various commodities moved across the docks at the port. Cargoes handled across the docks included potash, sulfate, triple phosphate, urea, rock and sand, wetcake, bauxite, lightweight aggregate, wire rod coils, aluminum ingots, aluminum tee and sows, scrap and steel coils.

Atlantic Navigation Bags Ten Vessel Charters

The Middle-East-focused marine logistics services provider Atlantic Navigation Holdings (Singapore) Limited has won long term charters for 10 OSVs with a combined value of around $236m from a Middle Eastern national oil company. The 10 vessels will go on a firm five-year charter with a two-year extension option to support a Middle Eastern national oil company's operations in the Arabian Gulf. The charters are for five maintenance/work/utility vessels and five anchor-handling tug, supply and safety standby vessels. Seven of these vessels will be newbuilds. The vessels, on a firm five-year charter with a two-year extension option, will support the NOC’s operations in the Arabian Gulf.

Van Heck announced that its patented Fast Oil Recovery (FOR) pump, Sea Trophy, is now available globally. A number of Sea Trophy emergency response kits have been mobilized to strategic locations over the globe, Van Heck said. These sets are suitable for FOR systems on board vessels as well as with the standalone Milk Can solution, making tank access through holes as small as 200 mm diameter possible. Each Sea Trophy emergency response kit consists of a complete set of tools and accessories, including the hydraulically driven Sea Trophy pump, capable of pumping oil with a flow of 70 m3/h.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service: Mastering Complex Logistics

From racing boats to steel pipelines, windmill blades to massive hydraulic hammers, Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) says its personnel in the Middle East can move just about anything, anywhere. Last summer, WSS was contracted to source ocean transportation options for the return of offshore marine equipment from the United Arab Emirates to Germany. The cargo consisted of 10 packages of pile driving accessories for onshore and offshore installation, including 13 meters long, 123 metric ton hydraulic hammer.
