Global LNG Bunker Fuel Market to Reach $1.3bln by 2026

The global Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a bunker fuel market was valued around US$ 550 million in 2017, and is expected to register a CAGR of over 8.5%. Tanker Tech: TMC for Roncador Tankers

TMC Compressors of the Seas (TMC) has signed a contract to supply complete marine compressed air systems for two shuttle tankers that Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) is building for Norwegian tank operator Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers (KNOT).The two 153,000 DWT DP2 shuttle tankers will be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries at their shipyard in South Korea and delivered in 2020. Statoil ASA Changes Name to Equinor ASA

Equinor ASA (OSE: EQNR, NYSE: STO), the new name of Statoil ASA, was approved by the annual general meeting yesterday, May 15, 2018, and the new name has now been registered in the Norwegian register of business enterprises (Foretaksregisteret). The company's shares will from May 16, 2018 (inclusive) be quoted on Oslo Børs with the new name and the new ticker EQNR. Implementation date for the new ticker EQNR for the company's American Depository Receipts (ADRs) on New York Stock Exchange is expected to be May 17, 2018 at the earliest. ISIN number is unchanged.

Statoil Name Change Expected in May

Statoil ASA will vote on the proposal to change the company’s name, from Statoil ASA to Equinor ASA, at the company's annual general meeting on May 15.The company said in March it intends to change its name to reflect its move to become a broad energy company.The company expects to implement the name change from (and including) May 16, 2018. BTMU to Refinance Two K-Line Vessels

Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has advised The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (BTMU), Japan’s largest bank, as facility agent for a syndicate of international lenders comprising itself, Development Bank of Japan Inc. and Societe Generale on the $180m refinancing of two K-Line LNG vessels, Arctic Voyager and Arctic Discoverer which are time chartered to Statoil ASA, the world’s largest offshore operator.   The WFW Hong Kong Asset Finance team advising on the transaction was led by Partner and Office Head Madeline Leong, supported by Senior Associate Ryan Tan, Registered Foreign Lawyer Rueben Tan and Legal Assistant Sandrea Mar. London Finance Partner Rob McBride provided advice on the hedging elements of the financing.

ABB to Equip AET's New Shuttle Tankers

ABB said it has won an order from Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries to equip two new 125,000 DWT shuttle tankers contracted to the world's largest offshore operator Statoil ASA. Ordered by petroleum and chemical tanker owner and operator AET and scheduled for delivery in 2019, the vessels will transport oil from the Statoil fields on the Norwegian and U.K. continental shelves to land-based terminals. The two twin-skeg specialist DP2 offshore loading shuttle tankers will feature a range of ABB’s power and automation solutions, including the power distribution system Onboard DC Grid.

SolstadFarstad Bags Statoil Contract

Statoil ASA has awarded SolstadFarstad (SOFF) a contract for Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Normand Fortune (2013, VS 485 MK III Design). The contract for Normand Fortune will commence in May 2018 for a period of 4 months firm with further 3x2 months option. EXMAR’s New VLGCs to Run on LPG

Two very large gas carrier (VLGC) newbuildings being constructed for Belgian owner EXMAR will be equipped with main engines that will use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as fuel.   Both vessels will be constructed by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction at its Subic Bay shipyard in the Philippines for delivery within the third quarter of 2020.   The MAN Diesel & Turbo engines will use part of the onboard LPG cargo for the vessels’ propulsion.   EXMAR has contracted the vessels to serve long-term commitments with Statoil ASA of Norway for worldwide LPG transportation.

SolstadFarstad Bags Contract for Normand Commander

Solstad Farstad ASA (SOFF) has entered a Bareboat contract with Bahia Grande LN S.A for the CSV "Normand Commander” for operation in Argentina.    The contract period is 5 years firm with further 1x3 years option, commencement of the contract is February 2018.    The commercial terms are confidential between the parties.   Last month, Petróleo Brasileiro S.A extended the present contract for RSV “Far Swift” with approximately 1 year, in direct continuation of present contract. Contract is now firm until 4q -2018.   In addition, SolstadFarstad has entered into a contract for the PSV "Normand Skipper” with Statoil ASA for work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for a period of 4 months firm with further 2 months option. Commencement of contract is mid-April 2018.

Dynagas Announces TC for LNG Carrier Pair

Dynagas LNG Partners has announced that a Partnership has entered into a new three year charter agreement with Statoil ASA (Statoil) for the employment of the Arctic Aurora, its 2013-built, 155,000 cubic meter, tri-fuel diesel engine, ice class liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier. The Arctic Aurora is currently, and has been since 2013, on charter to Statoil. The Extended Charter is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2018 in direct continuation of the Current Charter (interrupted only by the vessel’s mandatory statutory class five-year special survey and dry-docking) and will have a firm period of about 3 years +/- 30 days. Statoil will have the option to extend the Extended Charter by two consecutive 12-month periods at escalated rates.

Statoil Acquires 25% Stake in Brazil's Roncador

Statoil ASA and Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) have agreed that Statoil will acquire a 25 percent interest in Roncador, a large oil field in the Campos Basin in Brazil. The transaction nearly triples Statoil’s production in Brazil, with attractive break-evens and potential for additional value creation for both parties through the application of Statoil’s expertise in improved oil recovery (IOR). The total consideration comprises an initial payment of $2.35 billion, plus additional contingent payments of up to $550 million. “This transaction adds material and attractive long-term production to our international portfolio, further strengthening the position of Brazil as a core area for Statoil.

ExxonMobil's Canada Offshore Project Produces First Oil

The Hebron oil project off the coast of eastern Canada has produced its first oil, operator Exxon Mobil said on Tuesday, in a boost to Atlantic Canada's output after years of weak crude prices. At its peak Hebron will produce up to 150,000 barrels per day (bpd), Exxon said. It will help Atlantic Canada offshore production climb 44 percent to 307,000 bpd by 2024, according to estimates from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Statoil Charters ULCC to Hold Crude for Asia buyers

Oil storage is feasible with low freight rates, capital costs; backwardation pushes traders to churn oil faster from storage. Norway's Statoil ASA has chartered the last remaining Ultra-Large Crude Carrier (ULCC), the world's largest oil tankers, to store oil off of Malaysia for distribution in smaller parcels to its clients in Asia, company executives said. Statoil has booked the TI Europe, capable of carrying up to 3 million barrels of oil, more than the daily consumption of South Korea, to reduce the time it takes for customers to ship their crude, Stale Endre Berg, senior vice president of crude and refining at Statoil, told Reuters on the sidelines of the APPEC conference.

Hurricane Harvey intensified early on Friday into potentially the most powerful hurricane to hit the U.S. mainland in more than a decade, as authorities warned locals to shelter from what could be life-threatening winds and floods. Harvey is set to make landfall late Friday or early Saturday on the central Texas coast where Corpus Christi and Houston are home to some of the biggest U.S. refineries. Statoil, AET Expand Shuttle Tankers Contract

Statoil ASA and petroleum and chemical tanker owners and operator AET are extending their partnership in the North Sea shuttle tanker sector. Statoil has, awarded a long-term contract to AET, a subsidiary of Malaysian energy shipping group, MISC Berhad, to operate two specialist DP2 offshore loading shuttle tankers (OLSTs) on long-term charter. These new vessels will be in addition to the two AET DP2 ships currently on charter, in the same area, for Statoil. Statoil Aims To Triple Production in Brazil By 2030

Norwegian integrated energy player Statoil ASA intends to more than triple its oil and gas production in Brazil by 2030, reports Reuters. Statoil has also approved the Peregrino phase 2 development, which is expected to add 250 million barrels of reserves at a break-even price of below $45 a barrel, down from an original estimate of $70 a barrel. Statoil invested about $10 billion in Brazil and is currently the largest foreign offshore operator in the country. Changes in Statoil’s Top Deck

Jannicke Nilsson has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) in Statoil ASA. She takes over the role from Anders Opedal, who will lead the development of Statoil’s growing and increasingly important operations in Brazil as new country manager. Jannicke Nilsson will assume her new responsibilities on 1. December this year, Anders Opedal will assume his responsibilities 15 January 2017. Nilsson will report to President and CEO Eldar Sætre with her office location being Stavanger, while Opedal will report to Lars Christian Bacher, executive vice president Development & Production International. Daewoo Shipbuilding: $1.4 bln order Cancelled

Cancelled order part of Statoil's Bressay project. South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd on Friday said a 1.58 trillion won ($1.41 billion) order placed in 2013 for a fixed oil production platform has been cancelled. The shipbuilder said in a regulatory filing that the cancellation would have no effect on its balance sheet as no costs had been incurred. A company spokesman also said the order had not been factored into any earnings forecasts. Daewoo Shipbuilding said a European company placed the order and had cancelled due to deterioration in its global operating environment. Canada May Ask Far-offshore Drillers to Pay Extra

Canada may ask oil companies to contribute to the hundreds of millions of dollars or more the country has to pay to an international body if they drill far offshore, according to an internal government memo. If that happens, it could make the operations more expensive and strain talks that companies will have with provincial governments, which already require them to pay royalties. A United Nations convention, which Canada ratified in 2003, says signatories need to pay the International Seabed Authority (ISA) if companies drill on the "extended continental shelf," the seabed part of a country's landmass, but more than 200 nautical miles (230 miles) offshore. It was never clear from where that money should come.

Statoil Aims for at Least 10% of Coming Brazil Gas Market

Norwegian oil company Statoil ASA hopes to have 10 to 15 percent of Brazil's natural gas market in coming years, Pal Eitrheim, the company's most senior executive in the country, told journalists on Wednesday.   Eitrheim added that major gas production in Brazil is likely to start after 2020.
