GTT Scoops Order for 8 Very Large LNG Carrier Tank Designs

French engineering company GTT has received an order from a Chinese shipyard for the tank design of eight new very large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.GTT will design the tanks for the eight LNG carriers, which will each offer five tanks with a total capacity of 271,000 m3.The tanks will be fitted with the NO96 Super+ membrane containment system developed by GTT.Delivery is scheduled between the second quarter of 2028 and the fourth quarter of 2029.No further details have been disclosed by the company at the time of the announcement.

Gaslog Inks Maintenance Deal with Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä’s Optimized Maintenance Agreement has been selected by Greek shipowner and operator Gaslog to cover 10 of the company’s very large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier vessels. The agreement, signed in June 2021, is designed to ensure certainty of operations with budgeted maintenance costs, Wärtsilä said.The tailored agreement covers the vessels’ twin two-stroke dual-fuel main engines, enabling them to benefit from condition monitoring and asset diagnostic services, including Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight solution and remote operational support capabilities.

Latsco Inks LNG Carrier Maintenance Deal with Wärtsilä

Greece-based Latsco LNG Marine Management has signed a five-year maintenance agreement with Wärtsilä covering the main engines for two large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, the Hellas Diana and the Hellas Athina.The deal signed in March 2021 covers two new vessels built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in South Korea. They are 297 meters in length and have a cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic meters. The Hellas Diana entered service at the end of March this year, and the Hellas Athina is scheduled to enter service in September.

Shipping company FLEX LNG said it has taken delivery of its latest newbuild, Flex Amber, from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea.Flex Amber is a large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with 174,000 cubic meters of cargo space. South Korea's DSME Wins $330M FSRU Order

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine and Engineering (DSME) has received an order for a large liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage regasification unit (FSRU).In a statement on the Korea Exchange, DSME said the contract was worth around 411 billion South Korean Won, or around $330 million.DSME did not say who the client was, except that it was a shipowner based in Central America. The vessel is expected to be delivered in late-June 2023.According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, the deal will become effective after the client makes a final investment decision on the project.Further, citing DSME, Yonhap said that the client would provide compensation for the costs related to the construction of the FSRU, if the final investment decision is not made.

Total’s First LNG Bunker Vessel Launched

Maran Orders 4 LNGCs from DSME

Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) will build four large Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGC) for Maran Gas.   The four LNGCs are expected to be delivered between 2017 and 2019 and will be built with the NO96-GW technology, which allows an optimized boil-off rate of cargo LNG.   Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) reports it has received a design order from DSME for LNG membrane containment systems.

DSME Orders GTT Membranes for 3 Teekay LNGCs

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) membrane containment systems designer GTT has received an order for three large Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs), the company reported.   The three ships, to be built by the Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), will be built with the innovative NO 96 GW technology, which allows an optimized boil-off rate of cargo LNG. All three ships are due for delivery throughout 2018.   Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, said, “DSME and Teekay are two long-term partners. Lloyd’s Register is to class all six of the next series of large liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships ordered by Qatar Gas Transport Co Ltd (NALIKAT) for the fifth train of the Qatargas II project. These ‘Qmax’ ships will be the world’s largest LNG ships. They will be twin-skeg, driven by two diesel engines and fitted with re-liquefaction plant. They will transport gas from Qatar to the US. Three of the ships will be built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), with a cargo capacity of 266,000 cubic metres, and the other three at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) with a cargo capacity of 263,000 cubic metres. Both yards have recently re-organised their production plants to accommodate the construction of these giant ships.
