M/S Zuiderdam Goes Live with Fidelio Cruise
Following inaugural events in Fort Lauderale during December 2002 during where Holland America Line showcased the new vessel to more than 13,000 travel agents, guests and alumni, m/s Zuiderdam has now commenced its year-round Caribbean Cruise program. M/s Zuiderdam, with a capacity of 1848 passengers, is the first of the Vista class vessels to be installed with the latest version of the Fidelio Cruise Ship's Property Management System offering an integrated management system to the vessel. Working closely with Holland America Line's in-house IT department, the team of Fidelio Cruise and Micros POS implementation specialists completed the installation process in time for the vessel's maiden voyage.
QEII Again Stirs Repair Interests
Interest in the European cruise ship repair market is currently focused on which shipyard will win the $31.3 million contract to repair the 1968-built, 70,327-grt cruiseship Queen Elizabeth II, owned by Cunard Line. There are currently three shipyards shortlisted for the work — Bremerhaven’s Lloyd Werft, Hamburg’s Blohm + Voss Repair and the U.K.’s A&P Southampton. The contract is expected to be awarded soon, with the drydocking dates scheduled for between November 12 and December 11.
