Inland Dredging Co Awarded Brownsville Dredging Job

Dyersburg, Tenn. based Inland Dredging Co. has been awarded a contract from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Galveston District for channel pipeline dredging in Brownsville, Texas.The company beat out three other bidders to secure the $10,433,550 firm-fixed-price contract.Work is estimated to be completed by June 19, 2024.

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Secures Dredging Contracts Worth $186.6M

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation, a U.S.-based dredging services giant said Thursday it had secured two major dredging contracts in Texas, worth $186.6 million in total.The contracts are for Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project, Dredging Reaches 1, 2, and 4 ($157.4 million) and Galveston Entrance Channel and Houston Ship Channel Dredging Project ($29.2 million)The Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project entails deepening the channel to authorized depths of 51 to 56 feet, which will make Port of Freeport the deepest port in Texas.

USACE Galveston Taps eTrac for $13M Hydrographic Surveying, Mapping Contract

The shared capacity, indefinite delivery contract will support USACE Civil Works projects to help advance navigation safety, dredging, flood control and hurricane response.The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded eTrac, a Woolpert Company, with an architect-engineer contract to provide hydrographic surveying and mapping services within the Galveston District and potentially the USACE Southwest Division. The five-year, Multiple Award Task Order Contract has a total shared capacity of $13 million.

Army Corps Awards Contract for Corpus Christi Channel Improvement

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) on Friday awarded a $139 million construction contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, LLC. (GLDD), to complete the third phase of the landmark Port of Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project (CIP). The four-phase infrastructure project will increase the Corpus Christi Ship Channel depth from -47 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) to -54 feet MLLW and widen it to 530 feet, with an additional 400 feet of barge shelves.Phase 3 will extend west of the La Quinta Junction through the Chemical Turning Basin in the Port’s Inner Harbor.

Bostick, visited the Port of Houston Authority last week and was given an aerial tour of the Houston Ship Channel as part of a briefing that highlighted economic growth along the federal waterway. He and Corps staff from the Galveston District met with Port Authority officials to review and discuss federal projects currently under way and planned for the Houston area. US Crude Oil Exports at 15-year High

Crude oil exports from the United States were 268,000 barrels per day in April, the highest in 15 years, with almost all of the oil delivered to Canada, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Monday. Exports have increased sharply since the start of 2013 and have exceeded 200,000 bpd in five of the past six months. The EIA, the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Energy, said the increase was largely the result of sharply rising U.S. crude production. Congress banned most U.S. crude oil exports after price shocks from the 1973 Arab oil embargo led to the notion that the United States was running out of oil. For the kinds of exports that are allowed, including sales to Canada and shipments from Alaska's Cook Inlet, U.S.

Texas Dredging Contract Awarded by DofD

US Department of Defense, Army, has awarded a contract to Inland Dredging Co. for dredging of the of the Neches River Channel in Jefferson and Orange Counties, Texas. Inland Dredging Co., LLC, Dyersburg, Tenn., was awarded a firm-fixed-price, non-option, non-multi-year contract of $12,747,180 for the dredging of approximately 3,537,000 cubic yards from the federal channel and approximately 80,000 cubic yards from the non-federal channel of the Neches River Channel in Jefferson and Orange Counties, Texas. Performance location will be Port Arthur, Texas with funding from fiscal 2013 Operations and Maintenance Army funds. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Galveston District, Galveston, Texas is the contracting activity (W9126G-13-C-0042).

Port of Houston Commissioners Approves Dredging Agreements

The Port Commission approved U.S. Army Corps of Engineers MOA’s  for Maintenance Dredging at Barbours Cut and Bayport. Two Memoranda of Agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for maintenance dredging were approved by the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority at its recent meeting, including up to $550,000 for maintenance dredging of Barbours Cut Terminal berths and up to $400,000 for maintenance dredging for Bayport Terminal berths. Executive Director Len Waterworth said that the Port Authority garnered a substantial savings for each contract by combining its requirements with channel maintenance and using the Army Corps of Engineers contracts for these projects.

NAVSEA Continues Hurricane Ike Relief Efforts

Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV), a directorate of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Washington D.C. cleared the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) near Galveston, Texas, for marine vessel traffic Sept. 25. The salvage removal operation directly supports Hurricane Ike relief efforts. "We originally identified five salvage targets, two of which were confirmed to be commercial-size fishing vessels," said Michael Herb, director of salvage operations. "However the work has grown and a total of three deck barges full of debris have been removed." SUPSALV and its east coast salvage contractor, Donjon Marine, commenced salvage removal operations Sept. 17. NAVSEA Responds, Provides Hurricane Ike Relief

Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV), a directorate of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Washington, managed the deployment of salvage equipment Sept. 16 in direct support of Hurricane Ike relief efforts in Galveston, Texas. NAVSEA's SUPSALV received the request from the Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) Sept. 15 for U.S. Navy assistance in removing a number of small vessels sunk in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GICW) along the Bolivar Peninsula northeast of Galveston. "We've identified five salvage targets, two of which have been confirmed to be commercial size fishing vessels," said Michael Herb, director of salvage operations. SUPSALV and its contractor commenced salvage removal operations Sept. 17.

M/V Tanner Christened in Texas

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Galveston District recently christened a unique 48-ft. vessel for use at its moorage facility. M/V Tanner - christened in honor of Sydney H. Tanner who retired from the Galveston District, USACE, after providing exceptional service to the district and the nation for more than 33 years - was christened recently in Texas by the Tanner family. The 48-ft. utilizes the uniquely innovative Stolkraft hull form, and will be put into service surveying the coastal waterways in the Galveston District. Art Anderson Associates assessed the match of the Stolkraft hull to the Gaveston District's specific requirements for a survey launch, and provided the plans and specifications for the Tanner's design.

Trico Marine Services, Inc., has taken delivery on the Northern Canyon, a 279-ft. UT 745 design platform supply vessel (PSV). The state-of-the-art vessel is designed to serve deepwater markets worldwide. Built in Norway, the Northern Canyon is equipped with a DP2 (dynamic positioning) system and is among the largest, most technologically advanced PSVs available in the industry. The vessel, which will be deployed initially in the North Sea, is quipped as a remotely operated vehicle vessel to perform subsea construction work globally. It has been awarded a three-year contract by Canyon-Offshore, Inc. Trico is scheduled to take delivery of a second 279-ft. PSV in September 2002. It also expects to take delivery of three new generation 155-ft.
