Bollinger Re-Delivers Elsa Leigh To Aries Marine
Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, La., has re-delivered the 254-ft. supply boat, Elsa Leigh, to Aries Marine Corp., Lafayette, La. While it looks like a new vessel, Elsa Leigh is the new name for the former Seacor Clipper after an extensive renovation at Bollinger’s Morgan City shipyard. The new name is in honor of Elsa Leigh, the four year-old daughter of Courtney B. Ramsay, vice-president of Aries Marine. “This is the kind of project we love,” said Donald “Boysie” Bollinger, chairman and CEO of Bollinger.

Bollinger Shipyards last month re-delivered the 254-ft. supply boat, Elsa Leigh, to Aries Marine Corp., of Lafayette, La., which is the new name for the former Seacor Clipper following extensive renovation at Bollinger's Morgan City shipyard. Much of the work involved mechanical systems in the hull and replacement of about 30 percent of the boat's steel. The vessel was brought up to ABS DPS 1, FiFi1 and GMDSS Area 3 certification. Her two main EMD engines were removed and rebuilt by NREC in Houma, La., who boosted their power from 1,250 hp each to 1,500 hp each.
ABCO Launches Three New Boats
ABCO Industries Limited, Marine Group — located on the waterfront of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia — manufactures welded aluminum boats to 60 ft. The company has served the marine industry for 57 years, and during the past 15 it has developed a comprehensive line of aluminum boats. Delivered in April, Pointe Caveau is a 48 x 16 ft. Delivered in May, this 26 x 10.5 ft. welded aluminum RIB for Ocean Exploration Whale Cruises is propelled by twin 130 hp outboards. Delivered July 27, 2004, this is a 32 x 10.5 ft. welded aluminum harbor patrol vessel for Halifax Port Authority. It is powered by a pair of 5.9l Cummins driving Ultradynamics 305 waterjets…
Mackay Marine to Outfit RB-M Project
Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC) and Kvichak Marine Industries (KMI) have recently been awarded a $600m contract for the production of up to 250 Response Boat Medium (RB-M) boats for the United States Coast Guard. It has been over three years since the Marinette-Kvichak spec boat underwent testing at the USCG base in Norfolk, VA. Mackay Marine, Inc will be outfitting the 45 ft. RB-M vessels with a state of the art marine electronics package. The main suite of electronics will consist of Furuno’s Navnet Vx2 radar/plotter/sounder system with Ethernet capability so the crew will truly have an integrated electronics package. The autopilot system will be comprised of the Simrad AP25 autopilot, and be fully integrated into their marine electronics platform.
