Combination Tug & Dive Support for Peruvian Navy

The Peruvian Navy has recently taken delivery of a well-equipped dive support vessel (DSV) from the shipyard Servicios Industriales de la Marina S.A. (SIMA). Designed in-house by the shipyard, the new 4400 HP vessel has significant towing capabilities and can act as a salvage tug. The 32 by 12-meter vessel has a molded depth of 4.5 meters on a finely-shaped, double chined hull. A four point anchoring system as well as a launch and recovery system for deploying an open diving bell are among the effective salvage and dive-support deck equipmet.

MAN GenSets for Chilean Fishing Vessel

MAN Diesel & Turbo received an order for three MAN 6L21/31 gensets to power a wellboat newbuilding for Patagonia Wellboat, the Chilean fish-farming operator. The order is the latest in a long history of wellboat references for MAN Diesel & Turbo in Chile’s domestic fish-farming industry, the company said. The new wellboat, to be built at Asenav in Valdivia, Chile, will be the first vessel in a new generation of wellboats designed and developed by Asenav in cooperation with Patagonia Wellboat. Engine delivery is scheduled for Q4 2015 with vessel delivery expected May 2016.

MAN Propels Purse Seiners Series

In February, a new propulsion package contract was made between the Peruvian company COPEINCA (Corporacion Pesquera Inca S.A.) and MAN Diesel & Turbo, Frederikshavn. Three newbuildings powered by 6L21/31-VBS propulsion packages are to operate off the coast of Peru – primarily for anchovy fishing for the production of fish meal. When the ships’ annual quota has been utilized (takes between 20 days and three months depending on the capacity and vessel efficiency), the vessels convert to mackerel and horse mackerel fishing for the rest of the year.

Phoenix Energy Nav Joins Aframax Pool

PDV Marina, S.A. (PDVM), the marine transportation subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), the Venezuelan state oil company, and Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. announced that Phoenix Energy Navigation SA (Phoenix) has joined the Aframax International Pool. Phoenix has contributed two double-hulled Aframax tankers to the pool (the Phoenix Alpha and the Phoenix Beta both built in 2003), expanding the number of vessels in the Pool to 34, including committed newbuildings.
