Marina Port Vell (MPV), Barcelona, a superyacht destination and home port in the Mediterranean, announced that Nigel Upton has joined MPV as Senior Sales Manager effective March 10, 2014. Upton has a diversified superyacht background with direct experience in sales, management, customer service and time at sea.

“Since January, we have experienced a remarkable upsurge in interest for the berths we are creating here at Marina Port Vell in Barcelona. We are excited that Nigel has agreed to join our sales team,” said Norma Trease, Director of Salamanca Group’s Marine Division. “We met Nigel when he sold us our beautiful Windy tender, so we know first-hand that he understands how to work with clients and close deals. Further, he is remarkably customer service oriented, a top priority for us.”

With curriculum vitae expanding 16 years, Nigel Upton most recently served as director of both Superyacht Tenders—a dedicated yacht tender brokerage service—and MGMT Yacht—an independent advisory consultancy providing counsel on yacht services and concierge. His previous land-based yachting experience included sales for EYOS and serving as Managing Director and RYA Instructor at Ribeye Balearics. At sea, Nigel was bosun aboard a 48m motoryacht and deck hand and dive instructor aboard a 44m motoryacht. His yachting credentials include Commercial Yacht Master Offshore, RYA Motoryacht Instructor, and PADI Diving Instructor. He holds a BA in Hospitality Management and Tourism and an HND in Business and Finance.

As Marina Port Vell’s Senior Sales Manager, Nigel Upton interacts with all clients at all levels from first interest and berth logistics to providing and ensuring Marina Port Vell’s 5-Star customer support and concierge services. Look for Nigel in port and at many of superyachting’s most notable events and exhibitions.
