Newbuilding Named at Odense Steel Shipyard

Lindø newbuilding No. 214, Mette Maersk at the outfitting quay at the Yard

On October 4, Odense Steel Shipyard named its latest newbuilding, a 7,000 TEU container ship, for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group. Yumiko Arakawa, wife of Shoshi Arakawa, Chairman of the Board, CEO and President, Bridgestone Corporation, honored A.P. Moller – Maersk and the Yard by naming the newbuilding Mette Maersk. Mette Maersk is the fourth ship in a series of six container ships. The ship is designed and built to meet the highest demands for safe, precise, environmentally friendly and economic transportation of goods all over the globe.

Marchen Maersk Named at Odense Steel Shipyard

On May 10, Odense Steel Shipyard presented its latest newbuilding, a 7,000 TEU container ship, for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group. Ingrid Steenstrøm Nielsen, wife of Finn Buus Nielsen, Managing Director, Odense Steel Shipyard, honored A.P. Moller – Maersk and the Yard by naming the newbuilding Marchen Maersk. More than 500 employees and companions from A.P. Moller - Maersk and the Yard were invited to celebrate the event. Marchen Maersk is the second ship in a series of six container ships. The ship is designed and built to meet the highest demands for safe, precise, environmentally friendly and economic transportation of goods all over the globe. Among other things, a waste heat recovery system is installed to optimize the use of the energy produced.

Namegiving of Newbuilding Held at Odense Steel Shipyard

On March 8 Odense Steel Shipyard presented its latest newbuilding, a 7,000 TEU container ship, for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group. Mrs Maud Andersson, married to Mr Bo I. Andersson, Group Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, General Motors Corporation, honored A.P. Moller – Maersk and the Yard by naming the newbuilding MARGRETHE MÆRSK. MARGRETHE MÆRSK is the first ship in a series of six container ships. The ship is designed and built to meet the highest demands for safe, precise, environmentally friendly and economic transportation of goods all over the globe. Among other things, a waste heat recovery system is installed to optimise the use of the energy produced. MARGRETHE MÆRSK is a rational and highly automated ship thoroughly monitored by advanced computer systems.
