The United States has for the first time seized a North Korean cargo ship it accused of illicit coal shipments in violation of U.S. and United Nations sanctions, the U.S. Justice Department announced on Thursday.The ship, known as the "Wise Honest," was first detained by Indonesia in April 2018. The port of Hamburg has for the first time introduced two straddle carriers with environmentally friendly hybrid engines.The first two energy saving, low emissions straddle carriers with hybrid engines are being used to transport containers between the ship, the yard, the rail terminal and the truck gate at the HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT).According to a press release frm the company, the two prototypes are expected to use at least 15 percent less diesel than their predecessors. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has announced its targets of cutting greenhouse gas emissions from global shipping in half by the year 2050, and to make ships entirely CO2-neutral before 2100. But long before that, the so-called sulphur cap will take effect: From 2020 all oceangoing ships must run on fuel that contains no more than 0.5 per cent of sulphur. According to estimates by classification society DNV GL, up to 70,000 ships will be subject to this requirement.

Following an extensive test program in the presence of eight classification societies, the latest development in Winterthur Gas & Diesel’s Generation X low-speed diesel engine range, the X52, completed both its Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Type Approval Test (TAT).
