Bosch Rexroth Bags Fugro Contract

Fugro, the global geo-data specialist, has awarded a contract to Bosch Rexroth to fully maintain and further improve Fugro Synergy’s hydraulic equipment.Fugro has worked with Bosch Rexroth for over a decade to ensure it has the best hydraulic systems and software solutions on board its geotechnical drilling vessel, the Fugro Synergy. Now, they are working together again in order to better prepare for the future.The Fugro Synergy vessel has been in operation since 2009, and is primarily used to drill into the seabed in order to analyse whether it can be safely used as a foundation for structures like wind farms or oil rigs. International Maritime Organization (IMO) fuel rules entering force in 2020 mandate a drastic sulfur reduction. By 2050 the mandate is to cut greenhouse gas emissions of shipping by at least 50 percent.Marine fuels, lubricants and additives manufacturers play their part in establishing maritime’s green credentials by introducing new environmentally acceptable technologies and products.The shipping industry is more than ever portrayed in a bad light due to increasing awareness of its contribution to global climate change, according to Dirk Kronmeijer, CEO of GoodFuels Marine.

ExxonMobil Rolls Out New Hydraulic Oils

ExxonMobil said its new Mobil SHC Aware HS (Hydraulic System) Series hydraulic oils are specially formulated to offer excellent protection, even in marine operating environments. Rolls-Royce Extends Service Capability in S.Korea

Rolls-Royce has extended its service capability in South Korea by partnering with Busan-based ship repairer Sunjin Entech. The new service agreement means that Rolls-Royce can now provide customers with a bespoke one-stop service solution at the Gupyung and Youngdo yards, Sunjin’s two main repair hubs. Waterjet-propelled Crewboat Delivered to Petrobras

BS Camburi, a 36-meter Monohull Crewboat built in Brazil by Arpoador Engenharia to the Petrobras type P2 specification has been launched and delivered. Designed by Incat Crowther, the 118-foot (36-meter) aluminum crewboat is powered by triple CAT C32 ACERT diesel engines coupled to three Thrustmaster DOEN DJ290 waterjets. Designed to Petrobras type P2 crew boat spec, this vessel will transport up to 70 passengers and crew as well as carry 50 tons of deck cargo plus fuel and fresh water cargo at a fully loaded service speed of more than 17 knots.

Chevron Introduces New Line: Clarity Synthetic EA Oils

Chevron Products Company, a Chevron U.S.A. Inc. division, unveiled a new line of Clarity Synthetic EA Hydraulic and Gear Oils for the marine industry and other applications where leaks or accidental discharge are a concern. These products meet the new EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs). Clarity Synthetic EA Hydraulic and Gear Oils are designed to give maximum protection and provide seal compatibility in hydraulic equipment and industrial gear applications on vessels and equipment where performance is critical. This includes marine applications such as: stern tubes, thrusters, controllable pitch propellers, stabilizers, rudder bearings and other mechanical equipment subject to immersion.

Fendercare Opens Expanded Great Yarmouth Base

On Friday, June 20, Fendercare Marine opened the doors of its Great Yarmouth base to showcase its expansion of lifting products and services over the last two years. The Fendercare Marine Equipment and Lifting Services Open Day was attended by an array of existing and new customers, as well as members of the local Great Yarmouth community. Fendercare Wins Eastport U.K. Fendering Contract

Norfolk-based Fendercare Marine, a supplier of marine products and services, has secured a contract to supply Yokohama fenders to Eastport U.K. Norfolk port. The contract, won against international competition, is for the supply of 17 Yokohama pneumatic fenders measuring 2 x 3.5 m to be used at the Great Yarmouth port. Fendercare Marine is currently celebrating 25 years of trading, having built their reputation as a supplier of quality marine products – in particular Yokohama fenders.

Sterling Equipment, Inc., an East Coast marine construction rental company based out of Quincy, Mass., has more than 135 pieces of floating equipment in commission, but its newest barge, a 180- x 65- x 12-foot crane dredge, will be among its largest and most technologically advanced. In September 2012, Sterling, a subsidiary of Jay Cashman, Inc., contracted May Shipyard on Staten Island, N.Y.

Seaway Powell Launches Onsite Servicing and Repair

Seaway Powell Marine, a British engineering company specializing in the design and manufacture of marine hydraulic systems, now has a mobile service and repair team for winches, windlasses, hydraulic and conventional sail and rigging controls. The service will initially cover the area from Hamble to Weymouth, with Seaway Powell Marine engineers making regular calls into harbors, marinas and boatyards, as well as responding to individual requests from leisure and commercial boat owners. EnerMech Profits From Investment

Mechanical engineering services company, EnerMech Ltd, doubled turnover in 2011 to £102 million, up from £50.6 million in 2010, according to its latest group accounts. The Aberdeen-based group delivered an £8.4 million profit (EBITDA*) and forecast 2012 profits would almost double to £14 million on expected turnover of £140 million. A recently agreed £25 million funding package from private equity backers, Lime Rock Partners, will underpin five strategic acquisitions in 2013, in addition to the £3 million acquisition of South African business Water Weights International last month.

EnerMech Target US Oil and Gas Market

Mechanical engineering group, EnerMech, has ring fenced more than $65 million (£40 million) to launch a major expansion in to the USA, as it seeks to replicate  growth in Europe and the eastern hemisphere. Up to $15 million (£9.5 million) will be invested in new Process, Pipeline and Umbilical (PPU) equipment with another $50 million (£31.5 million) set aside for strategic acquisitions allied to its other service lines and to build upon the existing USA business, EnerMech announced at OTC in Houston this week.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has signed an agreement with Jiangsu Masada Heavy Industries Co, Ltd., in Jiangsu Province, China, under which MHI is to license production and marketing of steering gears and deck machinery based on company technology to Jiangsu Masada. When the new Mangistau Oblast Boat Yard (MOBY) in Bautino, Kazakhstan ordered a Marine Travelift 600C mobile boat hoist for its marine repair operations, few were to appreciate the logistical challenges this particular placement would bring! However, Marine Travelift’s 50-years experience in dispatching its products globally came to the fore as preparations were made to send 24 open-topped containers to the final destination in Kazakhstan. With the 600C safely delivered one could be forgiven for thinking, job done!

New Towboat Built on Old Hull

Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc., based in Harvey, La., has delivered a towboat, Espiritu Paraguayo, to Asuncion, Paraguay to Navegacion Paraguaya Americana S.A., a company affiliated with the South American barge line ventures of Allen Mott. This is the third towboat purchased by Mott from Stewart & Stevenson, and the fourth towboat powered by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors (EMD) engines by S&S for Mott and Mott's affiliates. Espiritu Paraguayo was completed using the hull of Senator Eastland, previously owned by Brent Towing Co., Inc., Greenville, Miss., which burned in 1989 on the Arkansas River. After the fire, the vessel was towed to Superior Boat Works, Inc., in Greenville, and the machinery and deckhouse was removed and the hull was painted and stored.

MacGREGOR Adds to Offshore Portfolio

MacGREGOR’s expansion into the offshore support sector continues with its latest acquisition, Vestnorsk Hydraulikkservice AS (VNH). The company is a service and turn-key system supplier to the offshore and marine industries, its main focus being offshore hydraulics service and products. VNH has a 1,100m² workshop suitable for service of hydraulic equipment in Ågotnes, west of Bergen, Norway. The company has net sales of €4.5 million and employs 21 people. Vestnorsk Hydraulikkservice AS is today owned by Vestnorsk Holding AS. VNH works fully in the offshore industry and carries out installation, troubleshooting and repairs on and off shore. About 80 per cent of its revenue comes from service, the rest from various hydraulic turn-key projects.

OIS Wins Semi Reactivation Contract

In early 2005, Transocean Inc selected Mobile, Alabama based Offshore-Inland Marine & Oilfield Services Inc (OIS) to perform the re-activations of semis Falcon 100 and Amirante. Transocean has now designated OIS as the prime contractor for the re-activation of the Semi C. Kirk Rhein. The ongoing topside services provided by OIS include steel fabrication and renewals, piping and tubing replacement, electrical repairs, mechanical component replacement and deck crane repairs. In addition to services provided to Transocean in Mobile, OIS has numerous teams offshore providing service for other Transocean rigs as well as for Noble Corporation, Diamond Offshore Drilling, GlobalSantaFe Corporation, and Cal Dive International.
