Brazil: New Fortress Energy Charters FSRU Energos Winter

New Fortress Energy said Monday it had executed a definitive agreement to charter the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (ā€œFSRUā€) Energos Winter from Brazil's Petrobras starting in December 2023. The FSRU Energos Winter will be immediately deployed to Terminal Gas Sul (ā€œTGSā€), NFEā€™s newest LNG import terminal in Santa Catarina, Brazil, which will start commercial operations ahead of schedule in January 2024.ā€œWe are extremely pleased to reach this agreement with Petrobras and begin operations at the TGS terminal in Santa Catarina, Brazil ahead of schedule in January 2024.

Excelerate Sequoia FSRU Starts Operations in Brazil

Excelerate Energy has started natural gas deliveries to the Brazilian market at the Bahia Regasification Terminal (TR-BA) in Salvador, Bahia, in Brazil.Excelerate's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Excelerate Sequoia, which has an LNG storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters, is providing regasification services at TR-BA. The terminal has a regasification capacity of up to 700 million cubic feet per day.Excelerate and Petrobras signed the lease contract for TR-BA on September 28, following a competitive international tender process.

Large Offshore Wind Tower Manufacturing Plant to be Built at Port of Nigg, UK

Global Energy Group (ā€œGEGā€), the Scottish-based energy services company has agreed on terms with offshore wind tower manufacturing specialist, Haizea Wind Group (ā€œHaizeaā€), to build a £110m-plus (~$146 million) offshore wind tubular rolling facility at Port of Nigg, located in the Scottish Highlands. GEG said Friday that Nigg Offshore Wind (ā€œNOWā€) would be 450-meter-long, 38,000 m2 factory, capable of rolling steel plate to supply towers which will weigh in excess of 1,000 tonnes each and other productsā€¦

DSME Delivers Excelerate's 10th FSRU

South Korean shipbuilding firm Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has earlier this month delivered a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) to Excelerate Energy.The FSRU, named the Excelerate Sequoia, is Excelerate Energy's tenth FSRU vessel. All ten FSRUs were built by DSME.The vessel has a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters and is capable of operating as both an FSRU and a fully tradable LNG carrier, Excelerate Energy said. In September of last year, Excelerate and Maran Gas Maritime Inc. (MGM) signed a five-year bareboat charter agreement (BBC) for the FSRU.

MSC Enhances Transpacific Service

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced the launch of its sixth service, named SEQUOIA, from Asia to the U.S. West Coast.   The new trade provides a direct connections from South China to Long Beach, as well as a shuttle service from South China and transit time of 12 days from Ningbo to Long Beach.   The service will start operating from Chiwan on Friday, December 9, SAFMARINE MULANJE 649N.   The rotation will be: Chiwan, Yantian, Ningbo, Long Beach.

USCGC Sequoia Visits Saipan, Open for Tours

USCGC Sequoia (WLB-215), homeported in Apra Harbor, Guam, is scheduled to arrive in Saipan today, for a port visit before continuing aids to navigation operations in Western Oceania. The Sequoia will be open to the public for tours Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Port of Saipan in Tanapag Harbor. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not allowed aboard the cutter. Coast Guard crewmembers will be standing by to answer questions about Sequoia. The Sequoia conducted fisheries enforcement patrols, supporting forum fisheries agency operations and conducting aids to navigation within Western Oceania in support of Operation Tui Moana and Island Chief 2016.

Sinking Pacific Cargo Ship Crew Transferred to CG Cutter

Survivors of the sinking cargo ship 'Rich Forest' have been transferred safely from the AMVER rescuing ship 'C.S. Sunshine' to Coast Guard Cutter 'Sequoia'. The 500-foot cargo ship Rich Forest was abandoned by its 24 crew-members after the engine room flooded and were picked up from their liferaft by the AMVER participating vessel, C.S Sunshine. The US Coast Guard report that the C.S. Sunshine has now been released from the case and will continue its voyage to Japan. The Sequoia and the Coast Guard Cutter Assateague conducted a final visual assessment of the Rich Forestā€¦

Crew Rescued from Sinking Bulk Carrier

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) reported that 24 crewmembers are safe after abandoning ship approximately 440 miles west of Guam Monday. At 8 a.m. Sunday, watchstanders at the USCG Sector Guam Command Center received report of flooding from the 500-foot bulk carrier cargo ship Rich Forest. The ship, carrying logs enroute to China, experienced flooding in the engine room and subsequent loss of propulsion. The Chinese crew reported the vessel was taking on 160 tons of water per hour and generators had failed.

Redwood City Fireboat Unveiling August 10

The Redwood City Fire Department asked community kids to offer their best names for the City's new fireboat - and more than 100 came through with a wonderful variety of entries. The selection committee went through every name entered, and came up with the top 10, and from that top 10 the finalist will be chosen, to be painted on the stern of this new, important piece of firefighting equipment and unveiled at a special ceremony on August 10 at the Port of Redwood City . Along with the 10 finalists and their families, the community is invited to join in the special ceremony unveiling the fireboat's name Saturday, August 10, 2013, 1 pm, at the Port of Redwood City, 675 Seaport Boulevard.

The Supreme Court of the State of New York has dismissed a frivolous legal complaint against FE Partners, LLC, that alleged it tried to improperly wrest control of the former Presidential Yacht, the U.S.S. Sequoia. The Hon. Charles E. Ramos ruled that a complaint filed by the owner of the U.S.S. The judge's order came the day after FE Partners filed its response in the case,ā€¦

MAN Turbocharger Judged an Entire Success

The very first MAN Diesel & Turbo TCA77 turbocharger installed aboard ā€˜Jo Sequoiaā€™ nears 50,000 hours trouble-free operation. The chemical tanker 'Jo Seuoia' is powered by a MAN B&W 7S50MC-C two-stroke engine, having been built about ten years ago for Bergen-based Jo Tankers. During its construction, and with Jo Tankers already having chosen an MAN B&W 7S50MC-C engine as prime mover, MAN Diesel & Turbo approached Jo Tankers in regard to installing its then-new TCA77 turbocharger.

Coast Guard Cutter Brings Aid to Micronesia

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Sequoia is delivering humanitarian aid and supplies to the outer Caroline Islands in the Federated States of Micronesia as part of a joint effort by the Coast Guard, the Department of Defense and civilian partners Monday. More than 25 pallets consisting of textbooks, teaching supplies, toys, clothing, books, paint, generators, appliances, coolers, medical supplies, basic hygiene items and 55-gallon barrels are being delivered to the islands of Ulithi, Nomwin and Murilo Atolls. These supplies will enable the reconstruction of clinics, schools and provide the Pacific Islanders essential supplies they cannot receive on a regular basis.

Burger Boat Contract for Steel Passenger Vessel

Burger Boat Company has received a contract for the construction of Chicagoā€™s Leading Lady, a 98-ft steel passenger vessel, for Chicagoā€™s First Lady Cruises, Chicago, Ill. Chicagoā€™s Leading Lady is styled after the 1920s luxury cruising yachts such as the former Presidential yacht Sequoia. Chicagoā€™s First Lady Cruises will use the vessel for upscale private parties, wedding rehearsal dinners and corporate events, as well as, serve as an official vessel for the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise. The vessel was designed by Seacraft Design LLC, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

Marinette Marine Delivers Sequoia to USCG

On April 21, 2004 the U.S. Coast Guard will officially accept the Coast Guard Cutter SEQUOIA. The cutter was launched into the Menominee River at Marinette Marine Corporation on August 23, 2003 and has since been undergoing outfitting and sea trials. This date marks the first day the ship's crew will take responsibility for the cutter and the cutter will be placed into a temporary ā€œIn-Commission Specialā€ status. The cutter's official commissioning will take place at her homeport of Apra Harbor, Guam. Coast Guard Cutter SEQUOIA is the fifteenth Juniper Class Seagoing Buoy Tender and the tenth ā€œB Classā€ cutter built by Marinette Marine Corporation. Currently the Coast Guard has contracted for eleven ā€œB Classā€ cutters.

Ship Sinks Northwest of Guam

Ten people were rescued and 12 people remain missing as Coast Guard, Navy and Good Samaritan rescue crews search the Pacific Ocean about 375 miles northwest of Guam. An emergency beacon registered to the motor vessel Hai Tong #7 began broadcasting a distress signal at about 11 a.m. July 10. About 20 minutes later the emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) signal ceased broadcasting. The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine broadcast asking mariners in the area to assist. The masters of the motor vessel Ikan Bilis and the Horizon Falcon diverted to the scene. The Horizon Falcon arrived on scene shortly before noon July 11. The master reported an oil slick and debris in position last broadcast by the emergency beacon.
