ClassNK Updates PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Software

ClassNK has released the latest version of its design support software PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Ver.4.0.0., developed in response to the IACS Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (CSR BC & OT). The new version incorporates the latest rule amendments to CSR BC & OT and in order to speed up design evaluation, shortens the calculation times in the prescriptive calculation software and offers a new function to preview reports in the direct strength assessment software, improving overall performance and usability. The new version, PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) Ver. 4.0.0., builds on ClassNK’s existing software by enhancing a number of features.

Australian Dual-Fuel Project Nears Completion

MAN Diesel & Turbo Australia’s 33-MW Owen Springs Project, featuring the new 51/60DF dual-fuel engine, has taken a significant step with the arrival of the first of three generator sets at the new power plant. MAN Diesel & Turbo is constructing the Owen Springs plant, located near Alice Springs in Australia’s Northern Territory, for Power and Water Corporation (PWC), a major Australian public utility, with commissioning of the first engine expected in July 2010. The current project phase, covering the construction of the power house, control room, switch room, administration centre, tank farm, pump house and maintenance workshop buildings, is set for completion on schedule in May 2010.

Sanoyas Choses Sener

Japan’s Sanoyas Hishino Meisho Corporation (Sanoyas) signed a contract with Spain’s SENER for the use of FORAN as its new shipbuilding 3D CAD software. The order has been sealed by Takafumi Itoh (Sanoyas Executive Director) and Luis García (SENER Marine Business Unit Vice President). Although Sanoyas have used 3D CAD developed by a major Japanese shipbuilder, it has been seeking its next shipbuilding system in order to achieve further integration of design and production, as well as efficient design with a core focus on a modern 3D CAD system. In the last stage of the selection process, ship hull and outfitting design engineers from Sanoyas analyzed the prospective system by conducting 3-week training and workshop at Tres Cantos.

Sanoyas to Employ FORAN Software

Japan’s Sanoyas Hishino Meisho Corporation (Sanoyas) has signed a contract with Spain’s SENER for the use of FORAN as its new shipbuilding 3D CAD software. The order has been sealed by Takafumi Itoh (Sanoyas Executive Director) and Luis García (SENER Marine Business Unit Vice President) at a special ceremony in Tres Cantos, Spain, on May 31, 2007.
