"Know Your Ship 24 Hours Before You Board" – Damen Delivers Virtual Copy of CSS Den Helder to Dutch Navy

Dutch shipbuilder Damen has delivered a virtual copy of the under-construction Combat Support Ship (CSS) Den Helder, to a branch of the Dutch Ministry of Defense, so the crews can get to know the ship even before it's been delivered to the Royal Netherlands Navy."The new Combat Support Ship (CSS) Den Helder has not yet been delivered, but the crew can already get to know the ship thanks to an extensive Virtual Reality package. First 3D Classification Process for a Significant Vessel Project

Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Extends Interoperability on Large Assets

Digital Transformation for Marine and Offshore Companies

Classification society Bureau Veritas has entered into a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes, the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, company in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, in which Bureau Veritas will use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to enable the continuous assessment throughout the lifetime of ships and offshore platforms, as well as the equipment found on them. Bureau Veritas’ integrated Asset Integrity Management System will help owners and operators in their decision-making and improve maintenance and repair, seeking to reduce cost and downtime. This will rely on a joint development program that will ensure interoperability with third party software and related data standards.

AVEVA E3D Takes Center Stage

HHI to Deploy 3DEXPERIENCE Design Platform

Aveva: New Paper on Integrated Steelwork and 3D Plant Design

Aveva released ‘Bolting it all together,’ the latest in its series of business papers, which discusses how integrating structural steelwork and plant layout design can reduce project cost, risk and delivery time. ÅF AB selects AVEVA for Engineering Design

Significant cost and time savings achieved on projects using AVEVA PDMS. AVEVA, a provider of engineering design and information management solutions for the plant, power and process  industries, announced ÅF AB, one of Sweden’s  leading contractor and industry groups, will use AVEVA Plant as its principal design portfolio. ÅF AB has realised major cost and time savings using AVEVA PDMS for 3D design since it was first deployed in 2000. Under the terms of the new agreement, ÅF AB will now roll out AVEVA Plant across all new large and medium sized design projects.

Intergraph SmartMarine 3D Design Software

Intergraph last month introduced SmartMarine 3D, its next-generation software designed to streamline design processes, resulting in lower costs and faster delivery for the shipbuilding and offshore industries. The announcement was made in conjunction with the 13th International Conference on Computer Applications in Shipbuilding , ICCAS 2007, in Portsmouth, U.K. According to the developer, SmartMarine – previously known as IntelliShip – offers improved modeling, detailing and manufacturing capability for offshore devices and ships for unrivaled productivity and user friendliness…

CSSC Will Implement Autodesk Software

Autodesk, Inc., announced that China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) will purchase 10,000 licenses of the Autodesk Inventor Series over the next three years, primarily for the use of Autodesk Inventor 3D mechanical design software included in the Autodesk Inventor Series. CSSC worked with China Daheng Information Technology Corporation, Autodesk’s Manufacturing channel partner in China, to select the Autodesk software as its standard for digital design. The collaborative capabilities of Autodesk’s software will help CSSC promote digital information exchange among ship design enterprises and ship owners. CSSC also anticipates that improved collaboration will increase competitiveness throughout its shipbuilding supply chain, improving quality and enhancing results.
