The Quest to Find and Explore USS Indianapolis

Sunk by Japanese torpedoes near the end of World War II, heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis disappeared to the darkest depths of the Philippine Sea, where it remained undiscovered for more than 70 years. Recently a team of civilian researchers led by Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen set out equipped with an arsenal of high-tech search equipment on a mission to locate the historic vessel last seen on July 30, 1945. The story of the USS Indianapolis is one of military might, heroism, tragedy, controversy and mystery.

Elektronix Launches Marine Approved PCs

During 2010 Electronix AS invested resources regarding development, design and quality assurance of a new range of marine approved PCs. The enix2000 and enix3000 are based on a completely fanless design with Core 2 Duo CPU, and with several years of availability for all components. They feature standalone installation, wall mounting, or in 19-in rack (2U och 3U). They also include Industrial Wide-Temp Flash Disk (for a system with no moving parts), or 2.5-in Industrial 24 / 7 hard drive. Spectrum Signal Processing to Support the U.S. Navy Unmanned Surface Vehicles

Spectrum Signal Processing Inc., a subsidiary of Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. announced that the Government Communications Systems Division of Harris Corporation has selected Spectrum's flexComm SDR-4000 rugged software defined radio (SDR) solution to be deployed in field trials of the United States Navy's Multi-Mission Unmanned Surface Vehicles (MMUSV). Under the agreement, Spectrum will supply the signal processing system onboard the MMUSV that communicates with a processing system aboard a Littoral Combat Ship. Field trials for the MMUSV are scheduled to begin in early 2007. The MMUSV, a vessel similar to a rigid inflatable boat, is one of the mission modules that can launch from a Littoral Combat Ship.
